New Ego-T user. lots of issues

Hello all,
I just got my Ego-T about a week ago. My friend has an Ego-T he bought from the same spot. Mine is different in the atomizer. His looks like a needle but mine has like some metal filler covering it. I don't know if that's supposed to be there or not. I am very confused. My ego-t produces very harsh, no flavor vapor, and isn't producing much even with the tank full. None of my tanks have caps either like his, they're just exposed filler. I have attached pics. His on the other hand has a cap and produces wonderful flavorful smoke. He has a clear tank. We use the same liquid, flavor and strength, but mine tastes like crap compared to his! Any ideas or help!? Mine also leaks out the front of the atty onto the battery

Hello, I have'nt really kept up with all variations, but that's not what I would consider an Ego-T. Your friend has what I would call the Ego -T. Maybe someone else more familiar can help you to get yours working better. If you can't get what you have to work to your satisfaction you could buy some tankomizers and blank tanks, then you'd have the same as your friend. I did'nt get great performance out of those either , when I used them. I'd suggest getting a vivi nova kit( or mini kit). Low ohms if you have a choice.
