Just got my first e cig. It is the Fifty 0ne Duo kit. Works great and last night had no problems. But today it seems to have an air leak between the cartridge and the battery. Didnt do this last night when i bought it. This sytem has the atomizer built into the cartdrige and as i say seems to work very well, lots of vapor and taste is pretty good but i do get a light plastic taste i hope will go away. Any ideas what caused the air leak ? I can hear it when i puff ..

Possibly you have some cartomizers which are on the old side. Maybe an older batch.

I'm thinking you have a KR808d model e-cig. The official forum for that model is here. You can find all kinds of tips and tricks, plus a listing of suppliers, where to get reasonably priced cartomizers, etc.

The plastic taste might mean that the cartomizer is running low on juice. Do you have some juice to refill it with? You can find lots of refilling tips on the subforum linked above. From dripping a couple drops into the battery end to popping off the white cap, tipping at a 45 degree angle and dripping into that end, to the "spin" method of of SERIOUSLY replenishing the cart.

Hopefully you have an extra battery on hand too.

Try another cart, or refill the one you have, if adjusting the fit between cart and battery doesn't help.

Good luck with your KR808. It's a great smoke!

Might be just a matter of screwing the battery on a little tighter or backing it down a little.

Is it because the cartridge is not screwed all the way? I have smoke 51 duo also. When the battery and the cartridge are not screwed tight, I can hear the air.

I ordered some e-juice to refill these carts. I am looking forward to see how it goes. I read that the plastic taste can be gone when you rinse it and dry it all day and fill it with new juice, but I don't know if it's true or not as I haven't done it yet.

This forum has a lot of info! I am learning about this vaping thing! I've only been doing this for one month!

All up in your grill..
You can certainly drip into a 51 cart. You can read my guide on how to drip into a 51/vapure/e9/ltv9 cart here: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/vapure/48788-how-refill-vapure-catridge.html Be careful that you haven't charred it however, because that funky burnt taste will never go away if you have. 51 carts seem to char at around 11-12 consecutive puffs. A good way to avoid charring your cart is to rotate cartridges any time the cart starts to feel warm (at around 8-9 consecutive puffs.) and let the warm cart cool for about 2 minutes. Also you can simply count puffs.
Remember to keep it under 10 in a row.

If the cart is a tobacco 12 then it must be screwed down airtight onto your duo. (I wouldn't use these for dripping as they are too easy to damage when being taken apart.) All other 51 carts you will want to keep slightly loose. I'd say about a quarter turn back from air tight. If you hear a little bit of air coming through don't be alarmed that's normal. If you screw them down airtight they will be extremely difficult to draw through.

I hope you have found this helpful. please feel free to contact me if you have questions.

I have seen it hundreds of times. It is a manufacturers defect. Your device will need to be replaced. You have a couple of options here. You can exchange it at the store where you bought it. Or you can send it back to 51 in florida and they will replace it. Last I heard they were charging a $13 fee for replacements, but if you just got it I would call them up complaining and ask for a free replacement. They are very slow but they will replace it for you. If you are interested there is a way I can replace it for you. PM me for details.

On an added note:
51 is closed on weekends. You will have to call them mon-fri 10-4 EST The number is on the outside of your starter kit.

I figured this thread is as good as any to post my mini-review fifty-one duo - tried this one out in a mall kiosk the other day....I can easily say it's my favorite so far. I was pretty blown away by it. this is the closest device to a cig that I have tried so far.

Vapor production is consistent and powerful.

The price however absolutely shocked me. The flip side to that though is you can return any part of your kit (including cartos) at anytime with no questions ask to which I laughed at the kiosk rep and then basically asked how long the kiosk has been in the mall to which he replied quickly "2 and half years" I was pretty amazed by that as well.

I will be buying this one when I have the cash as the mall is not too far away from where I live so I won't mind swinging by to purchase more cartos when needed.

Again, I was really impressed by the duo.
