Hey everybody. New member here. I love to smoke. Actually, I probably love to smoke more than I love anything in this world, be it drinking, sex, eating a good meal. Nothing on earth "does it" for me like a cig.

Like everyone, I'm concerned about my health. I decided to switch to vaping a couple of years ago. Bought an njoy 510 kit. I probably didn't give it a fair shake. I couldn't deal with the 3 piece setup, ended up tossing it away, thinking it was outdated anyway.

Moved on to the SafeCig. I was doing pretty well for awhile. I had cut my analogs down to about 5 per day. I don't know what happened after that. I ended up going right back to half a pack or more a day with analogs, and just using the SafeCig when indoors/otherwise unable to smoke.

When SafeCig came out with the Micro, I just had to try it. I was sure that the smaller size and weight would look and feel so much like the real thing that it had to work. They even come in cig-like packs! They also have batteries that you must recharge several times a day, and about half the vapor draw of the original. And the Turkish flavor....well, it tastes like every other ecig flavor that I've had...some sort of fruity plastic taste.

Is the problem with me or the products that I'm using? I've known 2 or 3 pack a day smokers who switched seamlessly and never looked back. I just can't find anything that satisfies me, either in taste, texture, or just general pleasure, and I'm racking up some pretty big costs on equipment that I never use, not to mention I'm still spending 20 a week on analogs.

I'm thinking of getting some cartomizers for my safe cig battery, which is apparently an RN4081? Or maybe an adapter to convert it to a 510? These seem to be the cheapest routes, based on my research.

Why must I love tobacco so much? I fear my last breath will be a drag on a cig, and probably come sooner than I want :( I do realize that ecigs aren't a cessation product, but I've known so many people that have had good results in switching.

Advice on both the technological and psychological side of this is welcome.

I totally understand. I loved to smoke too but I didn't like how it made me feel. I went the super mini route, hated atty's too, so I went with the KR808D-1 from Halo, G6. Closer to a real cig with easy draw and great throat hit, plus Halo tobacco flavor e liquid is the best I have ever used. I also love tobacco taste. Down side to all the slim style e cigs is battery life, lots of charging. I charge two at time a couple times a day. I now have 7 batteries! LOL But hey it works. The best thing for me was trying out flavors, Halo tobaccos I love. I also like other flavors now too, but tobaccos are my faves. Good luck in your adventure of vaping. bnrk

Eliquid flavor and the heat of the vapor make a huge difference to me. I have to feel the warmth going in and like the taste whether it is tobaccos, coffees, or desserts. I quickly (a few months anyway) didn't care about whether it was cigarette size and I got really sick of cleaning cartomizers and changing batteries all the time.

It is expensive finding the right combo, especially if you are still smoking and buying both.

So do you think it is just the flavor not doing it for you? Are you only using prefilled cartomizers? What level of nicotine are you using?

Yeah I've only used the prefilled safecig cartridges. I'm currently using 18mg cartridges. I'm really not sure if it's the flavor only, or the texture. Nothing is like smoke except, well, smoke. Smoke has a certain "thickness" to it, but also a certain "smoothness" that just feels.....natural. That's why I only smoke full flavors. The SafeCig Turkish cartridges give plenty of throat hit. Heck, they're almost too harsh and tend to make me cough. But it's nothing like "smoke", and isn't satisfying. I just feel like I'm going to spend a grand going through every possible ecig product when the problem may be me.

E-cigs will never taste like cigarette smoke because they don't burn. The coughing at first has more to do with the built up tar on your lungs when the vapor hits it. After a few days of going slow it usual gets better and then you can fill your lungs without coughing.

Sounds like you need a more powerful ecig. I don't know the SafeCig per say, but it looks kind of light weight/whimpy from the website. Others may know more.

I wish I lived in Georgia because I'd let you try a LR 306 1.5 resistance atty on my REO grand bottom feeder. The vapor is cigarette warm and the BackwoodsBrew.net Casablanca eliquid I am using leaves a nice tobacco aftertaste that I find satisfying. It really comes down to personal taste though and what works for me might not work for you.

Go to the Georgia section in the forum when you get 5 posts and maybe someone there knows of a local place where you can sample different ecigs or flavors. It gets very expensive sorting it all out and with time as you get off cigarettes your needs even change.

Prefilled ejuice cartomizers never taste all that great. The forum has a lot of eliquid sellers with great stuff and everyone has their own favorites. It's a process and unfortunately unless you have a friend with stuff to try it's hit or miss.

I think you would be happier with some good tobacco e juice to fill your cartos once they get a bit dry. For me nothing tasted good until I started using e juice. Then even better when I started making my own e juice. A whole new world of flavor- and it makes a difference! I was getting bored with only a few flavors, I like to have lots of flavor. You could see if anyone has some Halo tobacco flavors for sale on the list so you could try them. Favorites are Tribeca, Torque 56, Prime and Freedom Juice. They have a better tobacco taste and very smooth. When I first got Tribeca I could not put it down! ha ha Now Freedom Juice I like mixed with Prime 15, has that dry tobacco-y taste to it, I like :) You could try their sample pack of tobacco flavors, they get good reviews. bnrk

Well, i am new- 2 days & i am amazed with vaping! Haif-Heartedly checked out, bought & tried Colibri, dissapointed. Went to KGO from Hoosier e cig supply & i am doing really well, no cigs. I started smoking 40 yrs. ago- very tired of the trauma of quitting-starting, over & over, so resigned myself to smoke. I accidently found vaping on utube, then again ran into this forum, i am not great with this laptop newbe with it as well. I am happy!

I think you would be MUCH happier with a better model than the ones you have tried.

Rule of Thumb: the more it looks like the real thing, the worse the performance.

If you want warm vapor and more consistency, you just won't find that with mini models, with small auto batteries.

A good "beginner" model that comes with manual batteries (warmer vapor, more control, safer) is the E-Power 510 or the Riva 510. There are many models even better than these two (5 volt and variable volt models) but this two will definitely out perform what you have. And you can use the atomizers/cartomizers you already may have with either of these two:

e-Power

Nhaler

E Liquid - Original - E Liquid 5ML - PG - Tobaccos

Good Luck

Hello & welcome Justin,

Completely agrees with wv2win, I'm sure you would be a lot happier with a better model as they have suggested.

Plus as others have suggested, forget about the prefilled cartridges/cartos & get some e-liquid.

The RN4081 was the very first e-cig I bought over 3 years ago - these days there are so many better e-cigs out there :D

Give this one a shot, it has 3 different voltages you can choose from to find that sweet spot. I would pair it up with a CE2, Sapphire or one of the mant tank type cartomizers out there. Also I would buy a few differnt types of juice in sample sizes to find one that works for you. As I'm sure you already know this is something that you are gonna have to really want in order to become a full convert.

Ecblend has 5ml bottles for 2 bucks

Oh and I am only a 3 month old vaper so vets pls correct any bad info I may have put out.

I haven't seen one of these, yet. Good to see that they are progressing. Although they should have gotten rid of the 3.2 volt option and instead have the three power levels: 3.7v, 4.5v and 5v. It's a good suggestion, however.

I agree with that, my guess would be that the EGO batts can't go that high

Thanks for the input so far. It will take me some time to digest it and do the research. A lot of the language is way over my head.

I'm sorry to hear that dripping seems to be the way to go. I have always been averse to it, not being technically savvy, and being a sucker for convenience. But I've got to find something that works. But what's this about dripping being potentially dangerous? It's kind of important that I be able to vape while rather drunk without OD'ing on nicotine. Maybe I should hang on to my SafeCig stuff just for those occasions? (sounds snarky but is an actual legitimate concern)

As for the cost, I suppose it's worth it once I find something that works. Plus, I spend money on much dumber things.

Learning to drip is part of the learning curve to appreciate eliquid flavor without the cartomizer influence and to get a feel for the different attys. It's also always good for sampling flavors a few drops at a time. Plenty of ways to avoid it with similar good results.

If you think you'd absolutely hate carrying bottles around and dripping, read up on bottom feeders. There is a new one called a Vmod from Vapage.com (a few current threads talking about it) that has 20% off everything special going until 10/10 and of course the tried and true more expensive REOs which are not often in stock.

There are also a whole bunch of tank type mods that feed eliquid from a tank at the top. Some are more fiddly that others.

One more post and waiting until the system updates at 25 after the hour then you can go ask questions in other threads that are more specific to what you might want.

Good luck. Just keep reading and asking questions.

I really tried to like dripping but, personally, other than for testing new flavs, to save loading a carto, I have absolutely no use for dripping...it is messy, way to fiddly and inconvenient for my tastes...heck, I really don't even like the way it tastes to drip...cartos rule!!!!!!!!
madjack:2cool:

p.s. ain't it grand the way we are all different...sure makes the world go round and round...with so many ways to vape, it's just a matter of finding the one that's right for you!!!!!!!.........mj
