I'm just starting this and I have new gear in the mail hoping to be delivered tomorrow. I know nothing about anything except the few reviews and other things I've found online. Because this 'starter kit' was considered advanced there was a note that no instructions would be sent. So I'm wondering if I need instructions and where I could find any user manuals.

A quick search online netted me nothing, except for the EGO website which had a downloadable file with a file type which looked suspicious to me. (Not trusting anything China these days). So I wonder what to do?

I am receiving 2 EGO Twist batts, a Kanger Protank 2, and a Kanger mini Protank 2.

For example the one thing I'm wondering is at least one of the tanks can be used with a drip tip. Not sure if i need to install that with aftermarket tips or if it comes with one or how to even go about it. I'm curious about this feature so I can easily test all the eliquid flavors and strengths headed my way without having to cleaning the tank over and over...

Everything I own has a manual and I keep all of them for reference.

or maybe I'm making this more difficult than it needs to be.

Look for manuals on the Internet. Also check youtube videos--especially Pbusardo reviews. He's unboxed and reviewed pretty much everything, including proTanks. There are also videos demonstrating how to use the Twist and Spinner batteries. You just charge and set your voltage with the dial--start at 3.6v or so and adjust to your needs.

The ProTanks II come with drip tips--but you can substitute your own if you wish.

The ProTank 2 does accept drip tips and comes with one. However, with both the PT2 and mini PT2 you will have to wash them out whenever you want to change flavors. If you want to sample juices you'd want an atomizer, sealed 510/510 adapter, and drip shield (all of which are pretty cheap). The ego is pretty user friendly. 5 click on/off and dial the volts up/down to taste. Start at the lowest setting and adjust up till it tastes the best to you...
P.S. Little word of advice. Always plug your ego charger into a wall charger (iPhone style) and never directly into the USB port on your computer/devices. I've read many horror stories of how people have fried their computer/Xbox/etc by charging an ecig from the USB.

Is this your first gear?

Smart battery choice. Protank heads are a bit high in resistance. Mine read 2.4ohm
The ability to adjust power will make for a nicer experience.
ProtankII Tips are removable. you can choose most 510 drip tips to exchange on the tank, to your liking. Mini-PT II may or may not have removable Tip. Kanger just started shipping removables.

Well just don't do what I did with my pro-tank2 when I got it this evening -- filled it up with my yummy new Cinnamon Red Hots E-Liquid screwed it right onto my new EGO C battery and proceeded to spill the liquid all over myself. And so did I learn and go read the instructions? NOPE -- filled it up again and did the same thing -

Alas, I was forced to read the instructions! I had not put the coil on the base!!! Live and learn!!

I ordered my EGO-C kit from My Freedom Smokes and they had a great video on how to set it up (probably had one on the Protank as well that I just didn't watch!) So you might look at the site where you got your kit and see if they have any videos. I've also found some videos on You Tube.

My Protank2 did come with a small instruction booklet -- I just didn't read it!

Many egos come turned OFF. They don't tell anyone tho, lol. 5 clicks to turn it on. Usually comes partially charged at least, there may be a manual on how they want you to be doing it a certain way, just at the beginning. If they do, try to follow those instructions so you don't void the warranty.

A common first error is to tighten everything ( charger, clearo). Don't do that. Many heads leak juice at least a little, keep everything clean and dry.

Start off at the Lowest voltage setting with a new head or new juice.

Always have a backup charger and 3 batts are much better than 2.

Have a multimeter to investigate any problems.

Charge them where you can keep an eye on them, use a Lipo charging bag or at least a nonflammable charging try/bowl.

Awesome info everyone, glad to know drip tip is included too, I was just trying to find that out. Looks like another long night of watching videos (and trying to fit them in between game breaks lol) Thanks to all!!!

Most reviews I've seen seem to assume I have even a little experience with this stuff, I'm sure if I watch enough of them I'll find one dumbed down for me

First gear yes, was able to ask someone who had already been in this game for a few months. He also advised me about the coils and I bought replacements at 2.4, 2.2, and 1.8-2.1 (which I assume is 2.0). That way I could fiddle with the adjustable battery to see which I liked best. I am also aware of possibly needing to remove wicks. He is still experimenting with the same setup so i wanted to be prepared if he finds a good match before I do.

Another word of advice, try it out with both flavor wicks first. If you get dry hits, try just taking out 1 wick. If that doesn't work then take out the other. Mini needle nose pliers or tweezers help. Also, when you do take wicks out it helps if they are wet. Drip a drop of juice on the cut end of the wicks on both sides and let it soak in before taking the air post off. The wicks fray and fall apart very easily when dry.

Removing wicks depends on the specific juice you're using. Every juice I get is 30pg/70vg (pretty thick mix). Some juices I have to leave in both wicks or I get flooding, even with that thick of a mix.

Always keep in mind there is no "right way to vape", just what works best for you!

With the above advice and videos, you should be set for a great start vaping!!
My only tidbit - the ProTank is a great device, but MAY take a little fiddling to figure out the most satisfying vape.
Some things you MAY find necessary -
    a) Some Protanks seem to give a "metallic" flavor when new - I rinsed, I soaked with vodka, but nothing got rid of it until I washed the thing (NOT the coil part - just the rest of it) WITH SOAP. I think they have some kind of machine oil coating that won't come off without soap.
    b) I found with the ProTank1 that there was too much "flavor wick" - that not enough juice could get to the heating coil. So now I pull off the little air tube, and with tweezers I pull out a few strands - about half the wick that lays across the top. Then it just works better.

You may not have a metallic taste, and you may find it vapes great out of the box. But if you DO get metal taste, or you DO get "dry hits" - don't worry - it's fixable, and not hard to do.

There is a world of information out there but don't let it become more complicated than what it is. PBusardo and Grimmgreen are my go to review guys for the most part if one of them has not reviewed it then I dont buy it. YouTube and ECF are a new vapers best friend so use them. BTW at first just try to learn about the equipment you have even though you will see videos about other things that look cool try to stay on your equipment until your comfortable with it. Just helps to keep you from getting overwhelmed.

Great advice from everybody. I would highly recommend washing out the Protanks right off the bat. There will be machine oils, etc in them from the Mfg. process. I used Dawn detergent & then followed it with Everclear for a rinse. Or, any vodka will work too.

Don't forget to ask questions on ECF. That's what we're here for. To help you get the most out of your vaping experience.

Good luck & good choice on the equipment.
