I recently purchased a new GGTS+AVS after doing a lot of research. I have a few questions that I'm hoping to receive some help with. First a bit of my vaping history:

I started almost 2 years ago with a Blu cig. After 15 minutes I knew I needed something better. Since then I tried many varieties, 510's, eGo, Janty Stick, 801s, 901s, etc. Finally I settled on 808s because of the cartomizers.

At first I didn't mind refilling carts and managing atomizers. I did this for both my wife and I, so it required constant work. The problem came when I discovered Johnson Creek smoke juice.

I love JC juice, particularly the VG Wisconson Frost. My wife will vape nothing else. At first I wasn't sure, but I'm pretty much convinced that it was the cause of many dead atomizers. I could barely get 3 days out of one.

That's when I finally had to go to cartomizers. I was spending more money in atomizers every week than analogs. Plus I would inevitably get caught with bad atomizers while away from home.

Cartomizers just didn't produce the same vapor as good working 510 atties. So I kept looking.

Then I saw the Juicebox, kept researching, learned about high voltage vaping, and discovered the ultimate... GGTS+AVS, 7.4 volts with an autofeeding mechanism.

When it first arrived I carefully set everything up, charged the batteries, installed the i7 atomizer, and filled the tank. After the first puff I sucked up juice, filled and over flowed the overflow tank, and got juice everywhere! (my fault, I sucked too hard and had the control ring closed!)

So I took everything apart, cleaned it, and started over. Ok... now I got this right... The first puff was amazing... As I continued to vape away I realized this is what I've been missing since I started down the ecig path almost 2 years ago... PERFECT!

I still had a little leakage. Realizing there is a learning curve to this device I wasn't discouraged, it still vaped amazingly and I was very happy.

After less then 24 hours bad things happened. I went to take a puff and tasted something burnt. This didn't startle me at first, because the high voltage seemed to do that every once in a while. Next puff resulting in nothing... tried again... nothing... the atomizer was completely dead.

I figured, ah well, this happens. I put in my spare, fired it up, and got a very small whiff of vapor. Next hit... nothing... the atomizer lasted about 2 seconds.

Ok, now I have no atomizers and find myself in a very familiar and uncomfortable situation. Only the i7 atomizers have no warranty and cost $15 a pop. In a matter of minutes I spent $30 and don't know why or how that happened.

I can think a few possibilities and I was hoping that someone could help me clarify the situation to figure it out:

1) The Johnson Creek juice viscosity is too thin or too thick, and it caused the problem. Given my history with JC juice and atomizers, I have to think of this as a possibility. If I must, I'll switch to something that is proven in the GGTS+AVS.

2) I was using the device improperly. Maybe the juice level in the AVS must be at a certain level and it got too low and burnt out the iatty. Maybe I should have primed the new iatty before firing it up. I never over vape and have been very careful to let the iatty "rest". Not sure how to prime iatties though.

3) The holes in the iatty may be problematic and weren't "feeding" the atomizer quickly enough, this could be related to #1. Do people still use drills to make these holes bigger? I heard of someone doing that...

4) I genuinely got bad iatties, they normally last much longer, and I should have better luck with my next iatty.

I'm concerned because I spent a lot of money for this setup. I even spent the extra $$ for the magnetic switch and fuse kit. I've read about people using the same iatties for 3 weeks or more. That's where I want to be! If I'm doing something wrong I need help to figure it out. If the JC juice is causing a problem I'd be willing to try something else that someone can recommend. If another brand atty works better I'll get it. If I have to drill holes in the iatty, I'll do it...

I really want that strong vape back... nothing compares now that I've had it. I just don't want to have to buy $15 atties every 3 days.

Thanks for all your help. I know I'll love my GG once I work past these issues!

Hi, I vape at 6.4V, been lovely and the attys are lasting a lot longer than the previous GGTS-AFS set-up. One thing I noticed with this set-up is let it flood a bit prior to applying power. Let that juice flow down into the collection tank a bit. I then pull the AVS off and use a needle to empty then good for the day.

Dryness at 7.4V will means quick deaths as the GGTS being totally mechanical is probably applying 8.4V. Keep it wet, have I said that :)

If it keeps stuffing you around give 2x17340 Batts a go, 6.4V vaping is damn fine and I have not lost a normal atty even (except when failed my own get it wet at the start message).

it's basically a 5.2 ohm atomizer, very high voltage, or xhv, or whatever they're calling them...look around and get them for half the price.

EMonty, I read your thread up to post #131... very interesting. What has changed since June? Are there 901 cartomizers that can handle 7.4 volts? Can the Turbo Cartos handle 7.4?
I ask because I can only do 7.4 right now. Daz7401 in post #120 talked about doing it. Do 901 cartomizers have the hole that's needed? I don't have the tools to drill one myself, but your thread certainly seems to hold the answer to my problems!

HopeFuLLL, thanks, I'll make sure to prime the atties as you described. I just broke down and ordered 2 more i7's. I couldn't wait... :)

Urbanite, definately good to know, thank you. I don't know if I over tightened, but I'll be careful not to now that you mentioned it.

So basically with no drill and only 7.4 volts as an option, is there a cartomizer that would work for me?
Otherwise, EMonty, what cartomizer do you recommend and where can I get them?
I suppose I could bring a bunch with me next time I visit my parents... my Dad has a dremmel.

Thanks for the suggestion VPDownunder. I will check into the eastmall site, but right now it seems like it's down...
I'm starting to wonder if I let the iatties get too dry... I didn't really prime the second one, and maybe there wasn't enough juice in the tank to flow into the hole during the time it burnt out for the first... can they really burn out in a matter of seconds without being wet enough?
I'm definately interested in trying EMonty's suggestion, I'm just not quite sure what to get and from where. Can someone point me in the right direction?
As to the juice, does anyone have experience with Johnson Creek VG juice in the GG?

I just wanted to post an update since I think I've figured out what I was going on.

First, Rob from Vapor Kings mentioned that the atomizers he shipped weren't primed with any juice, so they were arriving very dry. This caused the potential for them to burn out quickly if they weren't wet when being fired up for the first time. He graciously sent me new ones.

Second, I think I was letting the atty get too dry. I seem to have solved this problem by closing the control ring and pulling the juice up into the atty by inhaling. (tough with no air flow) I've unscrewed the mouth piece to look into the atty a few times and could see that this was getting it nice and wet. I usually do this every 3-5 puffs.

I've been running off the same atty for over a week now. I still think that the AVS should be able to feed the juice into the atty a little better without having to "prime" it every 3-5 puffs, but I'm just happy that I haven't burnt one out lately.

I'm going to try Vapor4Life's Wow juice, 555 and Wowboy, next. I'm still not convinced that the viscosity of the JC juice isn't contributing to the problem.

I still didn't get any turbo carts yet, but I did get a couple sets of 3.0 volt batteries for 6v vaping. Right now I still prefer the 7.4v on the i7 atty over 6v.

Dano, when we say that we have to inhale with CR closed we dont mean totally closed but let it a very little open. You will feel juice coming inside atomizer. That way you will not need to take primary inhales every 5 puffs but every much more puffs.:):)
