You may be getting a wondermous present! I've driven a number of Jags w/ Chevy engines. Properly converted, they're way more reliable than the original boat anchor engine. Faster too.
The last one I was in had an LS1 aluminum v8 which was about the same weight as the original, but way more HP... and decent economy as long as you didn't keep mashing the skinny pedal. It kept the balance & handling more in line with it's original design parameters, than iron block 350 conversions.
Really hope you're happy with it. If I didn't have kids and a need to haul stuff, I'd be on the lookout for one.
