Yea, there's a lot of extra features that are useful but not a necessity. There's a comparison chart to better help you decide if it's worth it. There's not a huge difference between the Pro and free version but there is with the Ultimate version. The Ultimate version has a built in virus scanner which is powered by one the best virus scanning engines, BitDefender. Their prices aren't bad either.
So for the 30 bucks with the ultimate, I don't need my other internet security anymore cuz that has it built into it ? Is that what I'm reading there ?

(I ask cuz I'll have to renew mine pretty soon)

Yep. The price is pretty good for Ultimate as well. Covers 3 PC's for, basically, $10/ea.

I have another year on mine :(

lol AVG is a resource hog. Avast is a little better and ZoneAlarm free (what I'm using now) is even better. Never bogs me down while scanning and playing.

Mod, let me ask this then.....years ago, one of my son's friends who worked on computers had a mat to discharge static from his fingers and he would touch that before he touched anything on or in the computer so he didn't mess up the computer. I need to either clean mine, or have someone clean it. How important is a mat like that, and is there anything you have around the house that will do the same thing if it is important, or should I get one before I consider cleaning it myself?

They make static bracelets as well. Fairly inexpensive and can be found at most places that sell PC stuff. Tho for cleaning, you mostly use canned air. A simple way to prevent static is the same way you get shocked. Touch something metal before touching your PC. After that just keep a hand on the metal of the PC chassis while cleaning to prevent yourself from building up more static. The main reason for using the mats/bracelets is for when you actually touch the PC parts. Something as simple as metal bracelet, bare copper wire or even tin foil on your wrist will have the same effect.
