The nice thing is that you have plenty of "comfort food" to soften the blow.That particular brisket was inedible when we cut it - super tough and chewy. Nasty, frankly. By the time the judges got it we scored 26th out of 47. (The ribs were not so lucky - our first last place, no idea why. "Too dark" was one comment.. stupid judges.) Ended up 42nd overall. One of those write-off contests; we'll be back, but we can't take those scores personally. (We did much better at Salisbury, where the first pics were from. 72nd out of 113 overall but that was a screwed up chicken entry. 17th in brisket
)
Hard to get too down when chopin on some tasty ribs
What you need is practice. Lots and lots of practice. And since I like you so much I'm willing to give up as much of my time as needed to be a practice judge until you perfect all four categories. This could take weeks of daily BBQ, I'm sure. Just let me know when and I'll be willing to make that sacrifice.

OMG Max!!! Outside of my late hubby........you is the shoppingest man I eber did see !! 
Just got back from shopping. Picked up BLT fixin's and the store had the big pork loins buy one get one free. So I have two pork loins in my freezer for future use.
Sounds like me a roasts. I picked up some and found four others in the freezer.
DH isn't crazy about it either but it's an easy fix when the kids come over.

I'm that way with whole chickens when they go on sale too. I have four of those in the freezer as well.

I just can't help myself, you never know when you'll find something new or you think you can't live with out.
I really try not to buy to much stuff I can't eat, drink or get rid of when I'm done with it!

Wanting to get some replacement coils for my T3's. I'll survive a bit longer. Hopefully they have even more coming in soon.
