Where do I find out about them? I specifically need a trained seizure dog to catch the seizures we miss at night, when we're in the restroom when we can't be there, we can't watch her (my daughter)24/7 like we want to, but I know dogs can be trained to...

These wouldn't work for that :(

I would think there would be some organizations in your area that could point you in the right direction for seizure alert dogs.

You can get them, but at what they cost there's no way I could ever afford one. I've got our regional center almost convinced to buy her one, but since it's not been done before, and there's no real proof these dogs help these kids (yeah right) it will probably not happen... FYI special needs ANYTHING costs more because they can be fleeced and nobody speaks out about it, sigh! One of my biggest pet peeves ever!

Well, keep looking.....these Danes are donated....they do NOT sell them to those that need them. I would think there would be another, like them, out there somewhere for other needs.

It's not just Special Needs Kids...It's also the diabetics that have to eat better foods and they get charged more because the 'Natural" foods have LESS crap in them then the crap we all have to eat ETC.ETC.ETC. Don't get me started on all the different kinds of people that get ripped off. Believe me, you're not the only person who gets shafted by what's needed and what's not. I even had a MAJOR fight with my old mans insurance cuz they weren't going to give him portable oxygen. They said it was a luxury item and he had a machine at home and for me to deal with it.......Well, Lemme tell you THEY DEALT WITH ME ALRIGHT !!!........My husband had his portable oxygen approved after that :D

So I feel for ya babes

That's amazing, I'll look into it and see if there is anything like that for children with seizures, in my area or anywhere else in the USA. With my last 2 puppies I was really hoping one of them would attach themselves to my daughter and alert me, but no such luck, it would help if I knew anything about training a dog like that lol...
