Whew - what a night..............

Computer shut itself down this morning after a quick "Computer shutting down due to a virus" warning.

Ran everything I can imagine on it and it seems to finally be working.

Going to bed now!

XOXO

Laura,

Whenever you get this, I'd like to suggest STOPzilla for your Virus situation. You can go to STOPzilla – Security Software by STOPzilla, to DL and install the Trial. I guarantee it will find something - it's just a matter of how bad it might be after your efforts already. I'm a Computer Tech, and SZ is the absolute best I've found. It finds things that most others miss, especially the Free programs like AVG, SpyBot, etc., but Norton and McAfee too. It's full AntiMalware - AntiVirus, AntiSpyware, AntiBadStuff, but it's very user friendly, without a bunch of Paranoid Warnings, and has a very small footprint, so it's great on older systems, too (just in case). IDK how well it would run with other AntiMalware programs installed, so you might have to uninstall anything else. I think the Trial might run OK, but you'd definitely have to uninstall them if you wanted to keep SZ. It's really that good, and you wouldn't NEED anything else. I put it on all my customer's PCs, and have it on all of mine.

The new version is called STOPzilla AVM 2013. If it finds bad stuff, you'll have to purchase it to get it off (unless you're a Guru), but the Trial will find and report everything. You can buy it Annually for about $40/year, or a Lifetime License, for the life of the version (5 years expected) is about $100. If it doesn't find anything, then uninstall it. But I have to say that it's well worth the money. Norton and McAfee go for around $50/year, so $100 for 5 years is a really good deal, especially for how Good it is. Version 5 lasted from 2006 (if not 2005) until just recent. The only real downside is that a License is only good for one (1) computer.

If you wanted to try it, you could create a System Restore Point, Disable your other AntiMalware from Automatically Running, and install SZ. If you had to, then uninstall the old AntiMalware Programs, create another System Restore Point, install AVM 2013, and run it. If you don't need to keep it, then going back to what you had would be easier with the Restore Points.

If you need help with it, you can PM me. I could give you my Phone Number, and even walk you through it over the phone (No Charge!!!).

I would venture to say that if you Googled ANY product, software, hardware, or whatever, you'd find strings of people complaining about it. There were some issues with an Overseas Support crew that have been resolved, and I was instrumental in reporting that to SZ Corp (iS3). I work with the Sales Managers and Engineers directly, and yes, even Corp when necessary, as I am a Reseller of STOPzilla, and have been for years. I do not work for them, or get anything from recommending it. I was not trying to sell it to Laura, only recommending it, and offered my help for free. But if you study those posts (or at least the ones I've seen), the people were mostly complaining that SZ was not Free. They complained that the Trial would Find problems, but not Remove them. Look at the other posts on that same page that say SZ found 100s of infections, when Norton only found one.

I'm not going to argue about it. I was only trying to help Laura. Love it or Hate it. That's your choice, but I really don't think you should Flame something, like those Scam Alert people did, w/o having tried it yourself. All I can tell you is that it's the absolute best I've found. And I'll say this, too. Just because a program doesn't find a problem, and the computer runs, that doesn't necessarily mean that there aren't any.
