I haven't done that yet, but I've heard it's great for taking rust and gunk off and bring it right down to new again. Let me know how it goes. I have a couple that are a bit rusty from storage.

It works great. But mostly it just gets gunk off. If you're looking at rust, you are still going to have to either use brillo and/or soak in diluted vinegar. But, you dont want to use this method if it is a piece you consider irreplaceable. Sometimes they break. Not usually, but it is possible. Electrolysis is much safer if you can do it.

Just a piece of helpful advice though. Get on the rust ASAP. A couple of these pieces were actually so pitted from the rust they were not salvageable. Oddly enough it wasn't the ones my mom was using as outdoor cat food bowls. But those actually turned out to be vintage lodge. The pitted ones were obviously poorer quality to start with. All in all I came away pretty well as more than half came out fine. One I thought was going to be fine, but turned out to have, or I created by using the oven method, a crack all the way through. I actually used my new-to-me wagon wheel to make biscuits and sausage and eggs. (I like my stacking foods to all be EXACTLY the same size and shape)

Nice. These aren't too bad as far as rust goes. Just a little discoloration from it. Not big rust spots. And they're just cheap stuff. No family heirlooms.

That's just about me right there. I miss living in the country where we got fresh cured bacon. As our neighbor has started keeping goats, I'm trying to figure out how to convince hubby a pig would be ok.
