I doubt they would take your stuff. I had no issues getting on the plane with my stuff in my carry on. I had everything broken down and in separate plastic bags (juice, batteries, pv). Just don't try to bring mouthwash or sunscreen. Apparently they don't like clean breath or care about your skin.

Note to self, brush teeth and gargle REALLY well before leaving
