Hey everyone, first post here. I am 28, pack a day + smoker for about 15 years, I am smoke free for 1 year now and happier than ever! I quit using a combo of vaping and Swedish snus(google it) I just wanted to say hi and to ask a quick question.

I started out like so many with a Kanger EVOD, it was ok and got my by, I got some 24mg juice and was ok for about 10 months with that, but then the chance came up and I got myself a Kanger Ego T and started with that, I realized then that 24mg was too much so I got myself some zero and mixed 50/50 to make 12mg and again all was well, but what I did not realize was that the EgoT tank is disposable and the coils cannot be replaced, I learned this when I went into the new local vape shop and asked about it. I opted to purchase a better clearomizer than the Ego and ended up with an Aspire clear ET with the BDC set up, from the first use I have loved this tank and think I made a pretty good call on this one. I am using a standard Ego battery, I have 2 from the EVOD starter kit and 1 from the EgoT I bought. My question is this, the does anyone know what resitance coil the aspire tank comes with? I bought a pack of replacement coils and I know for a fact they are 1.8ohm, but there is a 2.3ohm option out there, I ask this question because since the first coil replacement I am not having nearly as good of an experience, I am now getting less flavor, less throat hit, and when I take more than a couple of puffs I get a massive headache that lasts for about 10mins and then goes away until I hit the vape again. I will typically Light the coil and draw for 3 seconds.

I am wondering if going with a lower resitance coil could cause these issues? I did not look at the coil that came out the first time to see what it was, I just assumed it would have been 1.8 but it may have been 2.3. I am using the same juice in the same mix of 24/0, the same battery, and the same tecnique but for whatever reason I am just having issues since I changed the coil, it's almost got me where I don't want to vape because of the headaches and I am in a spot where if I lower the nic it does not give me the throat hit I want but vaping it like it is is well, quite painful.. Anyone think this sounds like an issue with a lower resistance coil?

It could be the coil, or maybe even that your ego just doesnt have the power that it once did. They too end up dieing. If you know you are going to continue to vape, go ahead and get you a five pack of both ohms and swap them out to see if it helps. The only time I've ever experienced a headache is if I'm getting too much nic. I noticed you're using a 50/50 ratio juice. More PG would give you more of a throat hit. You may could lower your nic a little but go to a 70/30 ratio and still be able to get the throat hit you're used to. Is really hard to say for sure what the problem is. It could be a number of things. All thats for sure is it isnt working for you the way it is now. Get you some coils and if that doesn't work try a new ratio on juice. If vaping is something youd like to do long term, I'd suggest getting a better battery.for less than forty bucks you can get an mvp2 that lasts for days in between chargers, gives you control of voltage and wattage and it will also read the ohms of your coils. Hope this helps. Try not to get discouraged. It may take you some time but you can vape and get good throat hit without having headaches. Just have to find the right mix of variables

Welcome to ECF. As Stacy1 said, it could be a number of things. You may have gotten a bad 'batch' of coils. Not sure what's causing the headaches. It's possible that your 1.8 ohm coils are lower resistance than the ones that came with your tank. Try the 2.3 ohm coils if you can find them and see if they make a difference.

Good luck and again, welcome!

The Nautilus kit usually comes with a 1.6 ohm and a 1.8 ohm head. The Aspire ET clearo comes with a 1.8 ohm head. The resistance is laser etched on the barrel of the BVC and BDC heads.

Headaches are a common complaint from people who ditched the cigs and switched to vaping without tapering off the cigs. It's one of the side effects of quitting smoking that nicotine alone doesn't prevent. Since you are smoke free that wouldn't be an issue. Sinus allergies?

When you change a BDC or BVC coil you need to put 2 or three drops of liquid in the top of the coil head to prime it and saturate the blanket and wicking before installing. If you don't prime, you need to wait about 15 minutes for the juice to soak in once you install the head. If you don't do one or the other, you may burn some juice on the coil before the wicking gets primed up.

Update: I went back to the vape shop today and she didn't have any 2.3 coils, says she doesn't carry anything above 1.8, so I went ahead and got a new clearo, it's an aspire vivi nova with a 1.8 coil, I am hoping this will make the difference but so far I am getting the headache again. As far as the above posters question about sinuses I do have sinus issues and get headaches from time to time, but these headaches only happen when I vape and when I stop for a while they go away. I am still epicly confused because again, through the first week or so of using the ET tank I had no problems and was in love with it, but as soon as I changed the coil it all went bad, seems to be the same issue with the new aspire tank I got. I am almost wondering if it's the juice? I also bought a 12mg bottle today in the same flavor as the zero juice that I was cutting with before, I don't know if that would be the issue as I was using it the entire first week when I had no issues, I am truly stumped but I am close to the verge of giving up vaping and just sticking with my snus, I won't be going back to analogs since I have been off of them for a year now.

Ant other suggestions? I have no idea what else to do.. Although I think I will be ordering some 2.3 coils online to see what happens.

Ok, so the past couple of days I have been experimenting a bit, it occurred to me that the issues I have been having came with a new juice, I used this juice to cut my other juice for about a week and a half before all this started and so I thought maybe I'm having trouble with it and it took a while to set in, so I took my aspire et clear and filled it with my old vape dojo juice and did not cut it, this stuff is 24mg even with that the headache was not as bad, granted I did still get one but I expected that using straight 24 juice. In addition to that I also took the 12mg juice and cut it down to 6mg and it seems ok, still gives me the headache but maybe not quite as bad. I'm really still confused on this issue, I think my next 2 steps are going to be 1. Get some 2.1ohm coils, and 2. Get some juice other than the halo southern classic that I have now, I'm thinking of sticking with a 50/50 ratio.

I'll post again if anything changes.

Hi chili and welcome! Something else you might consider is getting a small sample bottle of 100% VG juice and see if you can vape it without a headache. PG allergies will creep up on ya and one of the first symptoms is headache and itchy eyes (in my experience). People can have sensitivities and allergies to both PG and VG and it's trial and error. Be mindful that a lot of supposedly all VG juice is actually in reality what they call "max VG" because the flavors and nicotine have a PG base. Good luck and keep checking in. Many here can help trouble shoot these issues for you. And again ... welcome!
