For the past 20 years or so, I've enjoyed a weekly cigar on Friday evenings. Never had an interest in cigarettes or pipes. However, I'm growing tired of the lingering tastes and odors as well as the maintenance of my humidors. I must be fairly sheltered here on my ranch because I just became aware of "vaping" last week after seeing a YouTube video. I've never seen an e-cigarette in person.

So, I watched a few other videos and decided to try an Innokin VV3 and an MVP v2 from Mt Baker Vapor. I'm curious to see how the experience compares with cigars. I liked strong cigars and primarily smoked Fuente OpusX. I never inhaled, so I'm not sure what nicotine levels I was absorbing. I chose some 6mg juices of various "non-tobacco" flavors to try. Hopefully, I won't turn green and embarrass myself the first time I try to inhale!

Anyway, I just found this forum over the weekend and am trying to learn the ropes. I'd appreciate any tips or tricks. I'm a 41yr old rancher with a degree in Electrical Engineering, so these devices are quite interesting to me. I look forward to getting them in hand.

You sound like me brother, occasionaly cigar to vaper - haven't looked back! 6mg juice has worked out for me just fine. I inhaled cigars intermittantly, and will do that with vapor as well. I find the vaper hit much nicer than the burning leaves of a cigar, and the flavor options are far greater with vaping - plus I can do it in the basement without stinking up the house! Will never go back to the analog.

Long time cigar smoker myself and big fan of Opus X and Fuentes in general

I dramatically reduced my cigar smoking since also getting a MVP.

As a cigar smoker, I like tobacco based ejuice and personally love Alien Visions Bobas Bounty and find their Havana Gold as enjoyable as a great cigar. These are complex flavors and probably would soon become favorites

I imagine with your experience in electrical engineering, you will quickly grow tired of the coils in the atomizers you mentioned and be building mico coils in no time.

Thanks for the info. I'm still trying to wrap my head around the terminology and equipment, so I hope I've got enough to get started.

From what I've seen so far, all the systems are simply batteries that heat metal coils to vaporize the juices. From there, it appears the Devil is in the details. Perhaps all the talk of tanks, clearos, cartos, and such will become clearer once I have the devices in hand.

Still, it looks like a fun way to spend money.

Well, my vaporizers arrived today and I'm pleased with them. I prefer the MVP simply because I prefer the iClear30 to the iClear 16 and the 30 is better balanced on the MVP. The VV3 is just a bit too small for my hands (I'm 6'11, 260lbs and my hands aren't very dainty). I think I'd like a larger PV in a "cigar-like" form factor, though. I'll have to do some more research on them.

I have a dozen juices on the way from Mrs. T Bakery, so I hope to have them tomorrow or Saturday. For now, I'll get by with the vanilla flavors I picked out when I got the kits.

welcome! I too went from cigar to vapor, however I was smoking 5 to 9 cigars a day all in the full body range la flor dominicana, fuente opus x, tatuaje, ect. I've had the want2vape alcazar similar but not the same, what I have done is take the cohiba and hang cigar from vapingzone and alcazar take all 3 and blend them it gives a nice throat hit and very similar to the opus x flavor, as we all know nothing is like smoking an opus but this has helped me from smoking for 20 days. Im saving 500 dollars a month! I am excited to try the alien visions juice

Ouch! 150+ premium stogies a month would really hit the wallet hard. I typically went through about 2 boxes a year, so that wasn't too bad...although I did spend $4k on a custom humidor when I first got into the hobby.

I can easily see this habit being more expensive now simply because I'm a gadget freak and there are a LOT of cool gadgets associated with vaping. :)

I went through a phase where I was going through a few hundred a month on Cubans, then larger humidors, and lots of premium cigars like Opus and Padrons.
I still have a full humi of good stuff that I occasionally smoke but sold a lot off to stock up on vape mods.
I've tried Backwoods Brew Casablaca, several RY4s, and others that were not bad, but for me, Bobas, Havana Gold, and Gorilla Juice from Alien Visions get most of my attention and I've recently found Hype to my liking.
I had a chance to try the raved about Halo Tribeca and was less than impressed

I have a couple of nice base cigar flavors but I mix them about 1/3rd with my favorite flavors like mint chocolate which seems to actually heighten the undertones in the cigar taste. I have yet to find a vape replacement to a good Cohiba - anyone out there have any suggestions since we're on the topic?

I went through a big "collector" phase in the late 90's/early 00's and stockpiled thousands of cigars that I'll probably never smoke. Lots of the Fuente limited editions and many boxes of Monte #2/#4 that I picked up in Havana on "educational visa" vacations.

I could probably sell them all and buy a new house. LOL
