Hey there,
I was in a mall today and the guy at the e-cig kiosk stopped me and my friend to give it a try. I had already tried Blu a few years ago at a different mall in a different state. At the time I couldn't find myself giving it a try. My friend and I asked the kiosk worker many questions and still left a little confused. My friend has a friend that ordered from Vapor4life.com and seems to enjoy it, but after reading the wonderful world of vaping, it looks like the rocky mountain starter kit may be a better choice. That information was written in 2009, so can someone confirm that this is still the best choice for a noob like myself?

Hopefully I'll be able to gather enough information from this forum to help me out.

I really recommend MistressNomads videos: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...-videos-newbies-particular-broke-newbies.html

I am a newbie and I started with the ehealth super mini because I didn't know what to start with. Now that I've been using it for a few weeks, I know it is not the right one for me. I think it would work well for people who were light/social smokers, but I was smoking home rolled using pipe tobacco (to avoid the cigarette tax) about 2 packs worth per day. Now I'm down to under 10 analogs per day, and hoping that when I get my KR808 kit I will be able to switch completely to ecigs. My advice? Do A LOT of research first. Best of luck to you!!!!

Welcome! You may want to go to the ECF general category Library and review the sessions on "welcome to the wonderful world of vaping", very good primer and Elendil's review of e-cig models good luck!

I was looking at the 510 kit JOYE510 Electronic Cigarette Starter Kit Matte Black Purple LED
The JOYE510's were what that article linked me to. I am usually a social/casual smoker, with 2-4 analogs per day, but I can smoke a pack a night if I'm drinking.

Sounds good to me, but you can get it for less here: https://www.cignot.com/product_p/kit-510-nbx.htm plus, Vicki the vendor is awesome and FAST (she ships out twice a day).

Also you'll want a bunch of e-liquid in different flavors and strengths (a range from 12mg-24mg). The best way is to get a bunch of sample sizes for your first order and then make a bigger order after you figure out what you like/don't like.

Good luck! :)

battery life of Blu may be even shorter than 510

But if you have a charged PCC and 2 batteries, you can use one while charging the other - a standard 510 battery lasts 2-3 hours, less if vaped heavily. The PCC can do 3-4 recharges.

510 also has longer mega xl batteries and a longer mega xl PCC available. These make it 138mm long with atty+cart or about 128mm with a standard Boge cartomizer (the way I use it). mega xl batteries should have 3-5 hour life (less if vaped heavily) and mega xl pcc could do 3-4 recharges.

Same life as mega xl 510 but a bit fatter is KR808D-1 which is also sold in colors by Vapor4Life.com

Comparison

And for super-long battery life look at Joye Ego, Ego-T, Riva 510

Dude...you've been thinking about this for over a year...there is no more info to collect....you ask 100 people, you'll get 100 more opinions and the confusion won't clear up.

You're looking at a purchase of less than $100...and I'm betting you've spent (at least) that much in the last couple of weeks on cigarettes.

90% of the people here have said the same thing....either a 510 kit if you want something the size of the cig, or an Ego kit if you want a battery that can hold out through the day.

Either is fine to get you started, and after using it a while you'll know what you want from there depending on your preferences. You can always pass yours on to someone else for a few $$$ if you later choose to upgrade.

Just take the plunge, and welcome to the world of vaping ;-)

That's pretty much what I did. Decided I wanted to quit, did a google search and some research, bought what seemed to have the most recommendations. I figured 50 bucks was nothing and if I hated it, oh well. Good thing I don't hate it!

I started 1 month ago with a very similar 510 starter kit from Ecigsupply.com (manual battery) . I took some good advice from this forum and added to the starter kit order:
2 atomizers
1 battery
1 USB passthrough
1 30ml bottle of 24mg ejuice
1 5 pack of blank carts
(total cost was about $100, discount applied about $90 final)

Since then I have ordered lots of other stuff from other suppliers and I can honestly say that my first order was more than enough to get started EXCEPT for batteries. 510 battery charge is very short lived, I recommend having four 510 batteries to get through a day unless you can use a passthrough plugged into a computer for most of the day (or carry your charger with you).

Currently, my prefered vaping setup is with my original carts and attys with a 510 2AA box mod kit (14500 LI battery) from MadVapes. It was a little frightening how easy it was to spend money on this smoking alternative because of all the choices available.

Knowing what I know now about 510's, I probably would have purchased a 510 PCC kit to get started. something like this from MadVapes https://www.madvapes.com/510-PCC-KIT_c_213.html
There are others available. I should mention that I smoked more than Explicit_Spade, so a standard 510 starter kit might be just fine (1 more battery?).

I hope this was helpful, and not just more confusion.

I started out with a 510 setup and have been relatively happy. Just for kicks I ordered a cheapie kr808 to try out the auto batteries. I dig them so much, the KR's pretty much all I use now.

The thing is, no one's experience will really help you (beyond the cheap ultra mini kits that everyone seems to have a bad experience with). The only way to really find what you like best is try a couple of options - as starters go, any of the gear people on this forum like will probably give you a good feel for what you like and what you'd like more...
