Hello everyone. I made the decision to switch from normal cigarettes to e-cigarettes to help me quit that habit. I ended up getting some from my local mall kiosk (should have done better research online first) and now after doing research after the fact, I found out that I over paid quite a bit.

They charge $30 for 5 pre-filled cartomizers which seems excessive compared to what I've been seeing online for different brands.

So my question is, can I salvage anything from what I've currently bought? Maybe find out what cartomizer is the same as what I have so I can continue to use the battery and charger I already have? I have attached pictures so hopefully some of the more experience people here and point me in the right direction.

This is a elight elite. Got it from an outfit called innovative smoking.

Don't sweat it -- most of us wasted money on poor devices from the mall/gas station before we wised up. Do NOT pay $30 for 5 cartos -- it's highway robbery. I just spent $30 on 25 cartos yesterday.

Impossible to say what the size is. I'm guessing RN4081. The threading looks too spaced out to be a 510.

My advice to you is to not throw good money after bad. Start fresh with an eGo or a Riva 510 and write off what you've already spent. I started with a RN4081 as well. I wasted about $150 on batts, chargers, and the overpriced carts before finding this forum. Then I wasted another $50 buying non-OEM cartos, adapters, etc. trying to make it work for me before giving up. I spent more money in 1 week with the RN4081 than I have in 5 weeks with my eGo/Riva kits.

Wowsers, 30 bucks, eh? The Njoy carto replacements are only 20 bucks for 5. How many cartos did you get with your original purchase? For now, you can buy some juice and refill them. That's what I did with the Njoy, until I just didn't want to use it anymore, so I bought something completely different.

In other news. I'm not saying that this is your deal, but my friend at work has some threading that some other things will fit on, but the connection between the battery and carto is never made. They're getting slick with being proprietary, some of these companies.

Thanks for the quick responses! The kit was $60. Came with 1 cartomizer, 1 batter, a usb charger and a case. I'll try to see if I can refill the original carto a few times, and definitely won't be buying any cartos from them.

I found out that cignot.com has a retail store near by me so I'm going to go check them out. Their prices are far nicer than what I initially paid for kits and replacement parts. They seem to have pretty good reviews on these forums here, so I'm looking forward to visiting their store.

Oh wow, sorry to hear that. Some things are just way over priced, as opposed to just being over priced. They sell the njoy kits for 20 bucks with 1 bat and three carts. Thing with the carts is, they say you need to keep them topped off all the time. If you used half the juice in one, then you used too much, and may start getting a burnt taste. I guess this is probably where I went wrong with my Njoy, and why I hate cartos so much now.

Try RN4081 cartomizers and see if they fit. Njoy's Npro (aka 2-n-1 at some 7-11 shops) and Smokestik's Hendu are RN4081. Or AZSmokeFree has some possibly Chinese prefilled RN4081 cartos. See if those work.

If those do not work then try 510 cartomizers - most are blank but LiquidXpress has a small poorly stocked supply of prefilled 510 cartos and Vaporkings.com has som Chinese juice prefilled Boge 510 cartomizers (good cartos, eh juice)

And if you signed up for any kind of subscription, cancel. And also check if they have a moneyback return policy on the hardware.

We use cartomizers that can be refilled. The most popular model with prefilled cartomizers is KR808D-1 (Vapor4Life and a different style at SmokelessImage, Bloogplanet, Halocigs G6). And I highly recommend manual batteries (harder to damage or kill with juice leaks, easier to get a good hit).

When you finish one of your cartomizers, see if the mouth-end cap can be easily popped out. Ripoff rebranders sometimes use hard caps or glue on caps and inner seals to thwart refilling.

Same here donesmokin.

I ended up wasting money on that mall contraption that seemed great at the kiosk but failed to deliver for very long. I went right to a Joye 510 and that was fine for a while. Made the decision to go eGo an never looked back. I can't believe how awful the mall pencils tasted in comparison.

OP; Use it up, buy no more carts and write it off... In the meantime follow the advice on this board for a good model that satisfies what you think you will miss in the analogs. For me it was throat hit, and I get all I need with the fat-batt and low resistance (LR) atomizers. Mostly drip but sometimes I use tank cartridges/attys for longer periods of need (driving etc).

Good luck!

I will probably end up going with something similar. I happen to like the small size of it, and for me it's the act of smoking that's hard to break. I feel it when I inhale and I see smoke when I blow it out. It stops the craving of the analogs which is great. After 17 years of smoking I think I may have found my solution to stop!

Judging from what I read here, I would be better off with a Joye 510 as some of you also suggested. Prices are much more reasonable and I'm really curious on trying out some different flavored juices. Right now I'm just using the OEM tobacco flavor. I have a feeling I will enjoy trying new flavors and filling them myself. Doesn't seem to hard to do.

dormouse, I found a local 510 dealer by me with great prices. I'm gonna stop over there tonight and see if they'll help me out to see if the 510 carto will fit and/or work with the battery I have now and also if the charger I have now can be reused.

I'm not opposed to tossing it all out and starting from scratch. But it would be nice to salvage at least some of the initial monies.

Thanks everyone for the quick help. I think I'm gonna like this forum.

You'll probably do just fine with the standard 510 ("pencil- cig sized). I smoked for 30 years and have gave it up for vapor some time ago (9mo or so). The worst part was deciding when *not* to buy my last pack. Once I decided not to I never looked back. No withdraw, no real cravings- nothing. Had one more about a week later "just to see" and it tasted just like a full ashtray smells (ugh!) Threw the entire pack in the fire (beer cookout hehe) Have no desire to taste that again.

Mark my words, the more you get into this the less you'll care about tobacco flavors. I would suggest first trying some "tobacco" flavors that have a hint of vanilla. That's what did it for me, such a pleasure to "smoke". I still don't care for the overly sweet or fruit liquids. Find your flavor and you'll forget all about analogs. :)

I should clarify that by "..the less you'll care about tobacco flavors.." I mean the less you'll be looking for something that tastes like a regular cigarette (we all did it). I don't think that vapor flavor producers "tobaccos" taste anything like analogs and that's a good thing IMO. It wasn't until I actually tasted something good that I decided I didn't need the analogs.

Get some sampler packs from some of the recommended vendors here and when you find that flavor that makes you stop and say- "Oh man, that's like the first bite of a good steak" you'll know you've hit paydirt.

Love Cignot - please let us know what you think of their brick & mortar location!

I know you want to salvage from your first purchase but Cignot sells Joye hardware and I don't believe anything in your original purchase will be compatible. If they are selling at the same prices as their on line site you would get a charger, 2 batteries, 2 atomizers and 5 filled cartridges for nearly half what you originally paid at the mall. The cartridges can be refilled at $9.00 for a bottle of liquid that lasts an average user 2 weeks.

Joye makes 2 different chargers, depending on the capacity of the batteries. Using a 510 battery on a higher capacity charger can kill the battery. Even if the first charger you purchased is thread compatible it isn't worth that type risk.

You can't beat Cignot for customer service either. I hope you have a good experience there. Let us know how you make out!

hold on to it for when your family/friends get curious about an ecig ,,
I completely agree. I started with the much hated Blu starter kit. However, it got me interested in vaping, and has now gotten my Aunt interested in her next step. They are what they are, but at least they are a first step off the stinkies!
Welcome to the group! Keep reading and asking questions!

Went there last night. The guy working there, Dennis, was super helpful and not pushy at all. He let me try some non tobacco flavors and WOW, what a surprise. So much better than straight tobacco! I was sold on the spot.

He helped me to pick out a kit that was best for me, instead of being a typical pushy salesman like at the other place I went to, simply trying to get me into the more expensive kits.

Ended up leaving there with a charger, 2 510 batteries, 2 attys, 5 carts, 2 different bottles of juices. All for way less than what I paid for less than half that the first time.

After the sale he even through in 5 prefilled marlboro flavored cartos for the 510 and an extra bottle (20ml) of tobacco flavor juice that I can use to refill the carto for other brand ecig so that it's not a complete waste, for free.

Best customer service in a long time. Prices same as on their website.

Just my two cents worth, after my experience of overpaying for my first re-branded kit from the internet. After you move on to a bigger and better device, pass yours on! I had an eSmoke kit first, and bought more cartos than i could stand after three weeks.

When I moved up to the eGo, I gave it to my mom, and she used it for two weeks till her eGo came in. Now a coworker has it, and she'll be buying a better kit with her next paycheck. I think at that point she's planning on giving whatever's left to another coworker!

At this point that one kit may eventually help up to four people quit smoking analogs, which to me makes it not so overpriced in the long run :)

So long story short, move on quickly to better stuff, but pass your stuff on so that you can get others on the same track you're on! and Best of luck in ditching the ciggys!

He's in luck if it was the "Elite" model. The threads are indeed different than a 501.

And to those saying to pass it on... em- I don't know... Mine actually turned me off to vaping for a while. The experience just wasn't what I hoped it would be.

What *I* would do is, wash out those old carts if possible, replace the batting and refill with with the smoothest "tobacco" flavor you can find and THEN pass it on.

Come to think of it.. I might dig mine back up and do just that :)
