@Gomtuu: Honestly the money comes way second to the health. I want to see my kids grow up and meet my grandkids (when I have some - hopefully that will be a while). I really didn't want to quit smoking, truth is I liked it. Just hated what it was doing to me. The real kicker for me was one day watching TV with my 12 year old son a Safecig commercial came on. I thought I was hiding my smoking pretty well, but he looked at me and said, "Dad, you should try that. They told us about it in health class and it would be way better for you." Damn near broke my heart... I ordered the Ultimate V2 kit that night, got started immediately once it got here, and never looked back...

@sailorman: Your signature about not using the term "e-cig" is wonderful, it actually made me stop using the term in my own journalistic ramblings on 750words.com. That is not an advert for that site, it's just an acknowledgement of your subtlety. Thanks.

Thanks for taking the time to think about the issue. It's an overlooked issue in the PR fight against the foes of vaping.

I figure if gays can turn around public opinion by co-opting the word "gay"...

If polls show people in favor of "single payer healthcare" turn around 180 degrees if it's called "government run healthcare".....

And people who would never be subject to the estate tax can be made to vehemently oppose it, just by re-naming it the "death tax"...

And forests can be destroyed without opposition if you name timber giveways "Healthy Forests Initiative"....

Then vapers have to divorce themselves from one of the most demonized legal activities anyone can do.

Nobody hates vaporizers. Everybody hates cigarettes.

Who could be against vaporizers?

Never underestimate the power of language to sway public opinion and the role words have in demonization.

The government will use the word cigarette as much as they can to turn the public against us.

Frank Luntz is a millionaire for recognizing and taking advantage of that simple fact in the political realm.

We vapers need to wise up and use the same tactic. Beat them at their own game.

I'm new to the forum, but semi-experienced vaping?(lol) I'm considering making one of thepuks box mods. I've not seen anything about anyone having one blow up in there face yet anyways.

Can't argue with that battery life. I've not experimented much with pg/vg mixes. Found PG not to my liking, and went 100% VG. Haven't looked back since!

Plenty of vapor from the VG, but negligible TH. TH is good using my 5v passthrough though. So I'm thinking if I put together one of his mods that the 4.8V on my 100% VG would be heaven!

@Cloud Wizard: Oh man, I got a little misty when I read that bit about you and your son.

I have a 4-year-old daughter, so I know what you mean. I thought I'd hidden my original analog habit from her, too, but kids are really just little people (as you know quite well), and she caught on. She's too young to fully understand the difference between a PV and a cigarette, so I've actually taken greater lengths to hide my new habit from her, strange as it seems. One day she saw a little cloud of vapor in my room and asked "where did that smoke come from, dad?" Why do kids have to be so smart?!

And both my dad and maternal grandfather died from lung cancer. Neither time was enough to get me to quit, though. I'm sure you understand.

Parent to parent, let me say: I hope like hell that this vapor revolution is all it's cracked up to be, because it's helping me to feel like less of a jerk.

@MirrorImige: Great to hear that someone is into the 100% VG, as well as the passthrough-related TH and your future mod. So many options...

Do you remember when all we did was take a cigarette out of the pack (or roll one from a bag, holding the bag on either side with pinky and ring-finger), light it, and stub it out when finished? You remember how easy it was? You remember how awful it was?

Apparently you should be careful with those mods, though!

@Gomtuu: Yep, never thought I'd be raising three of them. My kids are older, youngest is 11 oldest is 17, so they "get it". My wife wanted to tell them when I made it a week but I was so terrified of failing once again (I tried to quit at least 10 times with the patch, gum, lozenges, Chantix...) and failing is just really humiliating to me. I felt so confident about this vaping stuff that I did tell them at my one month anniversary and they cheered. Good side is that my wife is so thrilled she doesn't give me hard time about packages showing up every other day with more cool vaping stuff :toast:

3yo and a 1yo daughter myself. Definitely not wanting either of them to start smoking as they get older because they saw daddy do it. Also wanting to have the lung capacity to semi keep up with them lol. Hard enough as is.

My 3yo would already start her overly dramatic coughing routine anytime I came in from having a smoke. "COUGH, COUGH, COUGH! BLEH! Daddy you stink like cigarettes!!!"

I kept thinking, "what a show", but... she was right. I really did reak like a raunchy ashtray. Been back to vaping for a month or so now, and having a hard time getting my wife to drop the smokes. She smells just like an ashtray after a smoke, and it is awful.

I just upgraded to the fluxomizers from Gotvapes, and am enjoying not having to top-off the cartos all the time. Amazes me that when I go out on break at work to vape for a bit, all the criticism I hear from all the smokers I work with lol.

"That's too much work!" "I'd rather just keep smoking, and not bother with all that!" "You can't even do anything on break for messing with those!(As if I'd be playing patty-cake if my hands were free...)"

@Cloud Wizard: You're into the dreaded teenage years! But it sounds like your kids have a firm grasp on reality, so you're ahead of the game. :)

I feel you on the humiliation thing: I have quit so many damn times, mostly with the patch, a couple times cold turkey. Every time I went back it was embarrassing as hell. When my daughter's mama was pregnant (and when my daughter was an infant), I actually quit for a whole year. But I got really sick and couldn't stop thinking "man, I can't wait to have a cigarette when this tuberculosis is over." ("A touch of the TB," as the doctor at the free clinic called it.) Seriously. And I started smoking as soon as I was healthy again.

No one in my house smokes regularly, so I don't have to experience that stinky-person-in-my-home thing, but there is the occasional whiff of tobacco smoke outside our front door. And it's always a bummer. I live with my daughter and her mother and a close friend, and all the adults are or have been smokers. So it gets complicated. But I have turned both grown-ups onto vaping, and they've both taken to it...gradually. And thankfully.

Life is complicated, yeah?

I get a little shy about packages arriving for me with cartridges (I've yet to make the full e-juice plunge, but I'm days away!), but no one gives me any hassle about it. Whew.

@Gomtuu: Best advice I can give there is to try a bunch of different samples. Everyones tastes are so different. I was really hoping to find one of the Vapefests in Philly to try a bunch of different flavors, but haven't seen anything posted anywhere. I've found that even some of the samples I didn't like in carts tasted pretty good dripping in an atty. Or some others that where so-so tasted really good mixed. It's all a crap shoot till you find what you like. One for me for sure, I don't like pure PG anymore and strangely I've moved away from tobacco flavors (really grooving on coffee flavors mixed with chocolate - yuuuuum)

@Cloud Wizard: I like the coffee flavors, too. Okay, I've only had one, and it was pre-mixed in a Blu cartomizer, but it was delicious and fulfilling. I will definitely be exploring that branch of e-juice.

Thanks for all your help and camaraderie, Cloud Wizard. People like you are the reason forums like this have personal impact on people.

Cheers. :toast:

Get a Provari V2 from Provapes, IKV io6 atty or if you don't want to drip everytime use Boge Cartos or Vision Clearos, and any ejuice that has at least 50%VG(e.g. 50VG/50PG, 60VG/640PG, etc)...Follow these and you'll be in Vape Heaven Full of Clouds of Vapor and Flavor :p

Hi all!

(This is my first post. It took me several minutes to get here.)

I've been vaping for about a month, and I have not had a craving for an analog in that whole time.

What I've learned is that I want massive vapor, just tons and tons of it, and a medium amount of throat hit.

I've been using Green Smoke and Blu...I know, I know... but it's what I was hipped to (by myself) when I first starting researching all this lovely e-cig stuff, before I discovered this wonderful forum. I find that the Green Smoke is better, especially when it comes to battery life. But now I want to get into more involved vaping...

And what I want is voluminous vapor and a bit of a throat hit. In the month I've been experimenting with vaping, I've found that I need a little throat hit, but not so much that I'm all dried out and itchy down there. ;) I've also found that I want a lot of vapor, and I mean a lot. It seems that I should mix my own e-juice, and that I should use more VG than PG, if I want more vapor than throat hit (if one can quantify such things, and I bet that one can). I've done a lot of reading on this site, but there are thousands of posts on every vaping topic imaginable, so I've gotten a little lost here and there....and I don't even know if I'm in the right place to post this question. (And this question has turned into a rambling monologue).

Can someone give me the magical formula for this massive vapor and medium throat hit need? I'm talking about hardware (batteries, atomizers, etc.) as well as software (juice). Dude, I'm afraid that I'll spend too much money before I figure it out on my own.

If anyone responds to this, I thank you in advance. Vaping has kept me from smoking, and I'm so excited about it that...I don't know what. My 4-year-old daughter is excited, too. She's never seen me vape, as I don't want to confuse her, but I'm sure a bunch of you have kids and you know exactly what I'm talking about.

Whew. What a long-winded newbie.

@sailorman: Amen, brother.

Also, nice Frank Luntz reference. What a ....head that guy is. (Am I allowed to swear here?)

When, in my dreams, I open a vaping shop to spread the anti-cancer word -- when and if that happens, I will think of your vehemence. And I will think of Cloud Wizard, and people will be converted by the dozens (because I'm being realistic).

How many new(ish) vapers have wanted to open a store selling the very products that delivered them from the evils of tobacco? Nearly every single one, I'd wager.

I applaud your focused anger.
