So, I was out at the bar the other night and this guy was smoking what looked kinda like a cigarette, but obviously wasn't. Long story short, he filled me in on e-cigarettes and let me try his. I freaking loved it. After doing a quick Google, I found ECF. I believe he mentioned that his was a V4L. Judging by the "Seriously" thread, I have no doubt this is the right forum to be at, so I've got a couple questions (I'm sure they've been answered, but I've spent a couple hours on here just browsing and haven't found them yet :p). Much obliged!

Current Status:
-1 pack of Camel Ultra-Lights every day
-Quitting isn't a problem, it's the staying quit that's hard for me, I have a mental connection to the motion :p

What I need to figure out:
-What do I want to buy to last me a month (to start)?
-What will I need to continue this every month (liquids, atomizers, etc)?

I smoke about a pack a day so I'm trying to figure out specifically for the V4L what I need to do. Thanks a lot for the help in advance!

I would start out with Vapor4Life:: Because it's your life :: Electronic Cigarettes & Alternatives to Smoking if you can afford it, myself I started off small and poor. I honestly do not recommend buying a full months supply right away, you are going to need to discover the nicotine strength and flavors that will work for you and that will take a bit of experimenting. I'd just order an extra box of cartomizers and a few small bottles of juice (if you plan to refill to save money) with the big kit.

My personal recommendation for nicotine strength would be either 18 or 24mgs but you can always call up the guys on Monday at V4L, they are the true experts on finding what will fit you. 773-456-0116. The fantastic thing about ecigs is you do get a similar motion so you don't have to withdraw from that, it's not exactly like smoking, it's even better!

Monthly replacements will depend on if you decide to refill or just buy new cartomizers. I spend less than half on my ecig than I did on cigarettes. Some spend more because they love to try all the new flavors and get every new toy that comes out. Whatever makes you happy!

If you want to start off with a smaller kit you can certainly do that too, the kit I showed you just comes with all the gadgets right away!

OMG I am afraid to even post this up in fear that it might scare you away. I was about a pack a day for 30 years. I have been smoke free now for a month! I was like you wondering how much to buy and what to buy etc. the kit I got was this one Vapor4Life- Electronic Cigarette: Vapor King Ultimate Starter Kit
after a month my total spending has come to $445.00 however part of that is me buying more batteries, another pass through, and unfortunately 2 of my favorite flavors don't come in juices yet so I have to buy the carts.

the plus side though is that now I am truly on my way to saving big! I have lots of carts that I can refill and so now all I buy is juice which is real cheap. then buy 1 or 2 packs of carts of my flavors that are not in juice form yet.

if I had known I would be spending all that upfront money in the first month would I have still done it probably not. but am I glad that I did spend it ABSOLUTELY cause I can now say that I have been smoke free for a month now!

Good luck on your choices and on your kicking the habit! :)

--You want to start with at least 2 batteries (whatever you do), so you can always vape especially when the cravings strike.

--If you smoked ultra-lights, you might go between 11mg-18mg. But I agree, start small until you find your strength and flavors.

--Be patient. This is the hard part because it's easy to get anxious and excited about never smoking another cancer stick. However, it is that anxiousness that can lead to large, ineffective purchases.

+1

Also get a pass-thru - they are terrific and give you a great alternative to using a battery when you are sitting at a computer or have other access to a USB port.

The wild card in all of this is the pending FDA court case decision (see the sticked thread in the News section if you haven't already). Once I sorted out the flavors I like and nicotine strengths that worked for me, I have stocked up far beyond what I would normally have. The up-front money doesn't bother me as the Vapor King is working fantastic for us, and I figure it is money we would have spent on cigarettes down the road, anyway. I do know that aside from feeling better, etc. it sure is nice to stop at the gas station and have it cost $35 instead of $90.

Best of luck!

Well, having tried 2 e-cigs and spending EASILY $600 on stuff that I ended up giving away, figure you got off cheap finding the best one first lol!

Did you try the auto battery? Or the manual (push button) style. I myself prefer the manual, but there are many here who prefer the auto so it is definately a matter of choice. If you liked what you tried, I would stick with that.

If I were just starting out, this is definately the one I would go with, perhaps with an extra battery or two, and a few extra packs of cartos. The extra longs are just awesome! And the kit includes a passthrough which is a must if you spend any time at all on the computer (and you probably will now that you found us! lol)

Vapor4Life- Electronic Cigarette: Vapor King Ultimate Starter Kit

You can get this kit in either auto or manual and full logos or just single logos on the batteries.

As for cartos, that is such a personal thing. What works well for some, does not work out well for others. Did you happen to get the name of the flavor you tried? I myself do not care for the tobacco flavors - my favorites are coffee, cappuccino, banana cream, coconut cream, chocolate, and ice cream sundae. I vape the 18 mg during the day, and at night when I am vaping a lot, I tend to vape the 4 to 8 mg. If throat hit is important to you, you probably would do well to start with 18 mg and move up or down from there.

Good luck with your purchase, I am sure you are going to love it! ;)

Refilling will definately save you money, so order some juice to go with the cartos you order (There are a few videos on refilling stickied at the top of this page.)

I smoked 1 1/2 packs of Marlboro Menthol Light 100s a day. I ordered 8mg and 4mg cartos. I had planned on vaping on the 8mg to ween myself off nicotine and switch to the 4mg. I've only been vaping for 6 days, but haven't felt any cravings for nicotine while on the 8mg cartos.

My buddy started same time I did and order 18mg. He smoked 1 1/2 packs of Kools a day. He says the 18mg does fine for him, and isn't planning on dropping the nicotine strength. He has yet to feel any nicotine overdose symptoms.

I've tried a few of his cartos, and there's a slight difference in throat hit and flavor. The 18s give a better throat hit, but the 8s give a better flavor. We got some of the same flavors so it's easy to compare side by side.

Hope this helps in choosing a strength.
