I suggest the sigelei Zmax telescopic kit. It is a tubular mod that is VV/VW and telescopes to accommodate various battery sizes without extra attachments. It's made of stainless steel and is quite sturdy. You can get a starter kit for $75 from Varitube and it comes with a 90 day warranty. It comes with a clearo, but I use a ProTank on mine and it looks great. I've been using mine for 10 months with no problems.

Authentic Sigelei Zmax V3 Flat Top Telescope- Body, Batteries, Case, & Charger!

Hi Grid, I am new to vaping also, 3 months. Fortunately/Unfortunately i have taken a different path than you when it comes to ECIGS.
I have in 3 months built a collection, and i am in no means wealthy and can emphathize on your getting back on your feet. Now i have to get back on mine due to the vaping budget being exceeded many times over. But here is the thing.... i have made it a hobby to stay away from cigarrettes. Whatever keeps you away from cigarettes is a good thing!! Out of the options i have that would be considered necessity , i would definately look at the provari.... it is solid ! Remember cigarettes add up and eventually you will break even.. maybe thats my justification. I have found IMO that it really is about the Atomizer you choose also. I have nothing but good expieriance with Squape Atomizer... little pricey, but IMO i would never use a Protank for example knowing that there are these better options out there IMO

I started with ego batteries 3 weeks ago and I already own 6 mods. If you don't want to get into buying and charging separate batteries I would stick with the MVP v2, I use it as my out of the house ecig. in the house I use a SID but you have to get batteries and charge them. one battery can last you up to 3 days depending on how much you vape.

What's better, the i taste SVD, or Sigelei zmax v3? I know it's personal preference, but.... Any opinions, why you'd want one over the other?

They are quite similar with a few differences. The Zmax is shorter than the SVD in both short and long configurations. The Zmax has an OLED screen compared to the SVD's older LCD screen (unless that's changed). Zmax has a 1 button menu compared to the 3 button configuration of the SVD. It's a matter of opinion which configuration you prefer. I've heard the SVD is a bit heavier. I prefer the look of the Zmax, it looks much sleeker IMO. I'm sure you'd be happy with either one as the performance is very similar.

Everything that you said a device needs to do, the MVP 2 does.
I really like mine and I use it every day at work and have had no problem with it.
It's light weight and durable and comes with everything you need to get started except the wall adapter.
5V 2Amp AC to USB Adaptor
The only downside to the MVP 2 is that the tank sits high on it and eventually the battery will die.
If the VTR wasn't so heavy, that would be the one to get.
The tank sits low and it uses 18650's. So when the battery dies you just throw it away and still have the device
Plus the iClear 30(s) is better than the iClear 30

Thayamax, Thanks for breaking it down for me! And I love your quote about insanity. My kids drive me over the edge on a regular basis!

You're welcome. I know what you mean. I have 7 kids, 6 boys and 1 girl, which includes 2 sets of twin boys. They're all grown up now and we all survived! There were times I wasn't sure I'd make it. ;)

To the OP:

Maybe you might want to rethink storing an ecig in your pocket. Or possible change pants for a better pocket? Maybe you can put something else in the pocket to help support the ecig. Or even get a piece of pipe and put the ecig in the pipe. After having three of them break, a better solution is in order.

Ecigs aren't unbreakable, but they are hardly fragile. I've had them in my pockets of jeans, working on cars, and have not broken one yet. And I have a rotation of 7 batteries, including the long Triton VV.

Maybe a lanyard would help. But as you say, if the ecig turns horizontal in your pocket, eventually, given enough times, something will break. They really aren't designed to withstand that stress. Maybe the innoken VTR is an option. It's a box, heavy, but appears to be built like a brick ---- house.

Nobody wants to see someone revert back to analogs. For any reason.

Well I'm not going to convert back this time, safe for the moment do to the weather. Inside coat pocket. Occasionally slip one in my pocket but soon as I realize it I move it. But that also why I'm looking for something solid. Think after spending most of today looking at reviews including video reviews. I'm just going to save for a provari mini. Seems to get nothing but great reviews every where I look. Now the question is what else I need

i could have written the same post...still so overwhelmed by all of it... because my local vapotorium (not sure if that is a correct term but i call it that) carries the EGO line for the units... i am going to be buying this so i have a local place to shop (i am in a small town in illinois)... the juices people talk about here are just as overwhelming and to that i have no advice here as i am still on my first few bottles lol lol so even typing this i am overwhelmed again lol lol lol ... happy vaping and i wish you luck with your new job btw.

Yah, alot of ppl have suggested the mvp 2. And I'm sure it is great machine. Checked it out when I went to a e cig store. All they had was egos and the innoken line. But I seen it and I held it and just didn't like the look and feel. Really like the look of the mini. Might have to grab the extended cap and bigger batteries. I got the Halo triton, so I'm in no danger of switching back to death sticks.just looking for something more durable and better vape. After watching some vids triton just seems weak vape wise.. And by saving up, where talking like a month tops. As long as we don't get anymore ......ed snow and I have to miss work. And I drive a cab so can always put in extra hours for a little more cash. Joy of not having a life lol.

I know that you want a tubular mod, a smaller more compact mod, I would go with the Zmax mini, there are two versions, Thayamax linked you to one. Here is another http://www.vaportekusa.com/smok-zmax-variable-volt-mini-stainless-or-chrome/ this is the mod only, you will need to purchase batteried and a charger as well.

I have used the Vamo, SVD, and both versions of the Zmax, The one that I linked you to is my favorite by far. Compact, not too heavy and easy to use.
SVD great vape, smooth, heavy well built, no complaints
Vamo-not a bad Vape, rattles loudly when vaping (this is the chip set used) does what it's supposed to do
Segelei Zmax mini least weight, good vape, less expensive than the Smok version, has a little rattle, not as bad as the Vamo.
Smok Zmax mini- very good vape, feels a bit more substantial than the Segelei version I do not get a rattle on mine.

Get good batteries, if you upgrade later to a Provari mini, you can use them in both mods. Get extra batteries so you have them ready all the time.

For your money you can't go wrong, You could always sell the Zmax to a friend after you get the Provari mini if you decide to, I don't think you will, you'll prefer it over the Triton to take out and about.

If you're in the market for a mini, Sigelei also makes a mini Zmax that is made of aluminum which makes it much lighter in weight. It comes in different colors. I get no rattle from mine and it's great for out and about. The only drawback in getting a mini instead of a telescopic is that it only takes 18350 batteries which don't last as long as the larger ones you can use in the telescopic. This one comes with free shipping, but it's only the body. You'd have to get batteries and a charger extra.

Lots to choose from and lots to consider. Go with a quality device and you can't go wrong. There is just so much to take in, that taking your time and doing serious comparisons and reviews, can save one frustration and money in the long run. Chose well and you won't have to upgrade in the future, and just need to add to the collection. lol

Welcome and good luck.

Vape long and Prosper!!

I've been vaping about a month, a week totally off the analogs, and I wanted an inexpensive mod. Looked into the vamo and sid (which I think stands for smoktech intelligent device) and decide to go with the sid. A little pricey since it was a brick and mortar store but I got out for $80 with it with 2 18650s and a charger. It is a pulse fire (I think that's the right term) so there is a rattlesnake effect when you vape on it, some hate it, personally I don't. But there are so any options you have some work cut out for ya.

But keep us informed on which one you go with.

And welcome to the family!
