Do new headphones need time to break in like new speakers do?

    Thanks! :D

@T0mmy1977, yes they can take some time to break in.

What did you treat yourself to?
Nothing too special, but they are way better than the ear buds that come with an iPhone. Actually I really am quite happy with these JVC headphones.

I may upgrade to these in the future if I feel the audiophile in me starting to nudge me. Maybe a B-Day present to myself. ;)

It will be dependent on the headphone. Some react better to break in than others. This objective study claims there is no break in but has also stated their findings is limited to just these test subjects. I have seen other objective measurements that do display a change over time. If I find them I will post.

If willing to accept a little extra baggage, a dedicated headphone amplifier does wonders especially those that employ a DAC. Use to run the AudioQuest Dragon Fly on my Samsung phones for music until I made the switch to LG which house the excellent ESS DAC/HP Amp
