Hey all from kelowna BC here. I'm new to vaping on my new mod that I just bought which is a Joytech Evic VTC. I used to smoke cigs occasionally mostly after a couple of drinks and usually a only one max two. So I wanted to vape instead for healthier living and smoke tricks.
Here's my issue. I've used the thing off and on for three days and I'm so bloody winded even from the smallest thing it's ridiculous. I've never had this before even after cigarettes. I'm no nicotine running 0mg's even. Is this coincidence or wtf is going on?

What blend of e juice are you using? Majority of people I've known that have had this problem was due to having a high pg (propylene glycol ) e juice. Propylene glycol has known to cause mild dehydration. So if this is the case the best advice I can give you is to drink plenty of water. Stay hydrated it may just make a tremendous amount of difference in the way you feel.

And welcome to ecf :)

Actually, being "winded" is usually a symptom of too much *VG*, not PG -- too much PG usually causes irritation, a burning feeling in the throat/sinuses. VG is very thick, very gluey, and as it condenses in the airways, will cause a pretty significant narrowing of the airways -- e.g., thick paint vs. thin paint -- thick paint covers much more thickly, than thin paint. PG is quite thin, and the lungs can eliminate it pretty quickly, but VG is so thick, it takes longer for the lungs to eliminate it, and you'll notice it being there, because of the airways being narrowed. Not everyone has a problem with it, in fact more people have trouble with PG, because of its irritating effects, but a significant number of us do have problems with VG -- I have to vape 85% PG or I really can't breathe.

The fact that you're not a regular smoker may have something to do with it, too -- you're not used to always inhaling *stuff* into your lungs.

Your correct about vg being thicker thus taking longer for the lungs to eliminate it.
But,
Propylene glycol is known as ahygroscopic substance, a substance that absorbs and holds in water molecules, preventing them from being absorbed by the body. This is the reason vapers complain of being thirsty all the time, or of having dry mouth, and even the cause of dark circles under the eyes.

That's excellent info. I'm going to try something with a much higher PG than and see what happens.
Thanks again

You might also try not inhaling into the lungs, but doing it more like a pipe or cigar -- less bother to the lungs that way. A lot of vapers that use nicotine do it this way too, because vaporized nicotine absorbs better in the mouth and throat and sinuses than in the lungs, unlike smoke. I think it also provides better "clouds" that way too.

Oh ya and crazy phlegm too was the other thing that started.

Also very often a problem with high VG -- the stuff is just ungodly thick. With me, it just feels like I have a hairball in my lungs I *can't* cough up -- and since I already have asthma, that's a big problem! Some people can handle 50/50; other go to 70PG/30VG, or as I said, I have to use 85% PG or I just can't breathe. I know there are one or two running around here at 90% or 100% PG, for the same reason. I tried 90% Pg once, but at that level, it starts to burn my throat and sinuses pretty badly. At 85%, if my sinuses start feeling irritated, I drop to 84%, but after a week at 84%, I start having a lot of mucus in my chest and throat.

Well I'm not really a beginner per say. I have had vape pens in the past. I'm an ex cigarette smoker. Ex pot smoker. My lungs have had a fair amount of smoke over the years.
When I bought it they set it up for me. 430 temp, 45 watts. I'm going to turn it down once I get some new e juice that isn't straight VG too.

So I got some different e juice a 50/50 PG VG blend and turned my watts down a bit. So far it's night and day difference. Way smoother. No coughing and so far not winded at all.
There ya go! I have the same problem. If I vape anything over 50% VG it feels like I can't breathe. Like I can't inhale fully. It sucks!
