Completely agree.

It all depends on the amount of nicotine. Nic in cigarettes is no more harmful than a cup of coffee in the morning.

Pure nicotine is a poison.
The more diluted the more exposure you'll need to have toxic effects but all nicotine is poison

"Diacetyl" may or may not be "bad for the lungs" -- there is no absolute proof of it, period -- only associations. Some of us may abstain from using liquids that contain it, for various reasons -- which may or may not have anything at all to do with its actual effect, or lack thereof.

But to throw diacetyl into the mix, when someone is clearly having quite-characteristic problems with 100% VG, is simply not warranted, and is totally irrelevant. It's like saying that sugar is bad for your teeth, when someone has athlete's foot.

Always heard it said "Where there's Smoke there's Fire."

Just did some research.

Found links to Diacetyl.

Finding links on Wikipedia, the CDC, OSHA. telling of a link between discetyl and a permanent lung condition called popcorn lung. This started at a plant in Missouri that mskes microwave popcorn. And some of the people from that plant are either recommended go on the list for lung transplants or have had it done

Do the Google fu yourself.

When I had posted that comment I did not know he was vaping 100% VG.

There are *associations*... not SCIENTIFIC PROOF. A wikipedia article does not constitute scientific proof. I've read the OSHA material, which is sufficient for me to avoid diketones, but it's still only association, not proof.

But you're still missing the entire point: DIACETYL IS IRRELEVANT HERE. He was vaping too much VG! It has nothing at all to do with diacetyl!

Yeah, the problems with VG are somewhat less common, but there definitely are some of us who just can't handle much of it; there are even more who find PG so irritating that they can't vape it at all -- fortunately, I don't think I've yet seen anyone who can't find some compromise between them, even though there may be a few like me who have to basically balance on a knife edge between irritation and breathing problems.

It's really a perfect illustration of how vaping really isn't, and can't be, a "one size fits all" solution, no matter what stupid ideas our gov't may have in that direction. Just look how many brands of cigarettes there are! And they all do the same thing! Millions and millions of people smoke, probably for many different reasons, and quitting it seems to have just as many reasons, and just as many ways of making it happen -- vaping is just one of those ways, even if it's the most effective -- and maybe it's the most effective because not only does it approximate many of the sensations and behaviors of smoking, but it can be tailored so personally, for each person's comfort and satisfaction.

Our benighted gov't is never going to be able to understand something so personal and so complex.

It's the Wild West I tell you! If they can pare it down to just a few small towns, then they can get it under control.

Well then, that's a relief: they'll never be able to do that, while there are any of us out here with real mods, nicotine in the freezer, and the ability to make our own ejuice. :D

As I said above when I posted the original message about Diacetyl I was not aware he was vaping 100%vg.

I never said that a Wikipedia had scientific proof. Anyone can edit the articles there. I have edited my share of Wiki entries.

I did find articles about Diacetyl at OSHA and the CDC.

I am not going to be using diaceyl either
