I'm pretty sure everyone felt like that when they started, most places will have some starter kits with everything you need to get started, might have to pick the juice you want. Something like an ego starter kit and some juice would be all you needed to get going, should just be a battery, tank, charging cable, and your juice.

Yes, to get started get a basic kit containing battery (like an Ego style battery) and a tank (I recommend a Kanger type, either EVOD or ProTank) and some juice. If you have a vape shop near you go by and talk to them, try some juices and give it a shot!

No, you are not alone in feeling overwhelmed! I started with what I just described then read as much as I could here to learn more. I also watched a bunch of videos on YouTube ( I am a very visual learner) and expanded from there. If you have questions, ask, somebody on here will have answer or point you in the right direction

Ans welcome to the site!

Hello, it does'nt have to be complicated to start, you can just get a kit and off you go, so to speak. Actually, that's what i would suggest, start with something cheap that'll work, then you can figure out if you want to change anything, and go from there. Personally though, i would'nt recomend the cigalikes, something like this EVOD 650mAh Variable Voltage Blister Pack Starter Kit - MyFreedomSmokes.com and some juice, and you can give vaping a try. Get two, they're cheap.

Hi it does seem overwhelming in the beginning but I assure you it is not as complicated as it seems. Start out simple and their is always room to grow as you learn more. You don't have too dive right in to the complicated things. Just take baby steps. That's what I did. I started out very simple and as I learned more I began to try new things but only when I felt ready. I was a two pack a day smoker for over 25 years and was able to completely quit due to vaping. I suggest you start out with something like a vision spinner 2 or similar then as you grow you can progress if you wish into more complex devices. The spinner 2 gives you the options to change your voltage to your taste depending on what your vaping and the flavor. It has a long lasting 1600mah battery and is a very good device. You can Google vision spinner 2 and see if you like it. I think you will really love vaping as I find it far more satisfying than smoking was. Don't be intemidated and I think you will very much enjoy it. Hope this helps and best wishes

I think you are seeing a lot of folks on here who have turned vaping into a hobby. So they are always buying and trying bigger and better. You can do fine with just a starter kit as folks here have mentioned, but don't go the cig-a-like route because it is expensive and you will definitely want to get something different rather quickly (I switched in 2 weeks, so a lot of $$ down the tubes). IF you have ya little extra $$, I would start with an Evod Twist, a Joytech Spinner, or an Itaste vv3 because you can adjust the voltage until you find the best taste for you and you will stick with that kit for a good long time. So it is actually more cost effective. Google for the best price.

If you are not near a vape store, then you will need to order juice online. Check out the Forum Supplier part of the forum and the e-liquid discussion to get some recommendations for suppliers and then go to their sites, read the descriptions, and see what appeals to your taste buds. Buy samples or small bottles until you find what tickles your fancy.

Most importantly, enjoy vaping and toss those cigs!!

It might seem complicated or overwhelming at first but once you learn the basics it is pretty simple and easy to use.

There are a lot of great starter kits around, you can start with an ego/evod style starter kit or a spinner with variable voltage. If there is a local vape shop near you with a flavor bar you can sample flavors and find the one you like.

Am I the only one that felt overwhelmed when they first started?

Not at all. I am still overwhelmed and have been doing this for 2+ months.

But eventually you will learn and hopefully choose hardware that suits you. If you are a cigarette smoker you might want to get a Cig-A Like product like the Halo G6 to satisfy the Cigarette physical actions, IE putting something in your hand and mouth that feels and look similar to a real cigarette. I started that way and still use them. And then progress to something in the eGo style battery and clearomizer tank based units. I have them also but still use the Cig-A-Like Halo G6 along with other devices

I've been vaping for about 1 1/2 years so I don't consider myself a "NOOB" anymore, but I've not taken this as far as some have either. Spent a considerable amount of $$ trying a lot of different devices.
The kits and equipment have gotten a lot better and less expensive than when I started, so I agree with the poster above. $30-$40 will get you a high quality kit, add a couple of bottles of ejuice, and you should be able to make a smooth and trouble free transition (= success!).
Get familiar with that for a start, then you can take this as far and wide as you like.

And definitely visit all the other sections of this forum for valuable information from friendly informed and experienced vapors.

Good luck!

You're definitely not the only one to feel overwhelmed!

Look for an ego or evod starter kit. If you don't like the tanks that come with it, you can upgrade later as many other tanks will fit on these batteries.

Vaping can help you save a significant amount of money compared to smoking, but it will take a little while to find the right kit that suits you. So don't worry if it takes you a few weeks, you will find something suitable in the end.

There's nothing at all wrong with the basic starter kits, go ahead and get one. It's a starting point, and the important thing is to get off the cigarettes. Find a juice you like and go from there. Yes there is a bewildering array of hardware and a lot of terminology to learn, but you will be surprised at how fast you pick it up. Think of it as an adventure and a learning experience. Nothing worthwhile comes of staying in our comfort zone and never venturing out.

Hi
I really want to try vaping. Have been reading a lot of threads and I just can't wrap my head around it. Seems so complicated with all the choices and all the different parts you need. I guess I thought you just go out and get a kit and off you go. Am I the only one that felt overwhelmed when they first started?

I felt the same before I started vaping. It took a few months of researching the subject before I decided to start vaping. For the longest time, it was something I wanted to get into. Like you, I didn't know where to begin. I was overwhelmed quite a bit. When the time came, I decided to check out a local vape shop that opened in my city. The guys at the shop were very supportive and informative. They helped me decide where to start, and what I could look forward to. I strongly suggest you stop by a your local vape shop, and ask a million and one questions, like I have.

Most shops allow you to test out the devices and flavors, so that's a bonus if your unsure of what to get.

There are so many health benefits, and it's a lot easier on your wallet than smoking cigarettes. I'm glad I started when I did.

My best advice to you is; take it one step at a time.

Hey, I'm new to vaping, from my limited experience vapor zone juice is my favorite. I've tried gremlin (excellent customer service) highbrow (nice taste, no throat hit) some local stuff. But vapor zone juice has great vapor and throat hit and excellent flavor. You can do it man! Just start with a little twist battery and my favorite tank is a pro tank 2 mini. Good luck

Go. For. It. It's really hard to make a bad choice when jumping into e-cigarettes because making the switch from cigarettes to e-cigs will be the best thing you ever did for yourself. You really and truly have nothing to lose and everything to gain! I started with an EVOD from a local shop. They charged me $70, which is twice what you can get it online for, but also spent about an hour explaining things to me. No regrets there whatsoever. Two weeks later I got a G6 and tobacco sample pack from Halo. So I spent almost $150 in the first two weeks. Yes my husband and I were both freaked out! But now it's been almost nine months smoke free for me! Considering everything I'd spent in the past on cigarettes, nicotine patches, gum, acupuncture, hypnosis and books to help me quit, $150 seems like a great investment in my physical and mental health. I hope this is helpful. All the best to you!

I am new here too and all the terminology will intimidate you as it has me but I just got a 30 dollar starter kit until I learn more and can make an intelligent decision on what to upgrade to. I am loving my new ecig and wouldn't go back to analogs for anything.
My local vape shop set me up. If you have one close by go in and talk to them for starters....Good Luck.

to ecf and that is why you have all of us. :) I'll agree it is not as convenient as grabbing a pack out of the carton and heading out the door but it is so worth it. If you think about it.......it is a pretty simple process. I think everyone is overwhelmed by all the information and terminology at the beginning. And then something just clicks and you actually understand what you are reading. I still get a bit amazed everyday at what vaping has done for me. Just have fun with it. Happy vaping to ya and I look forward to reading more of your posts about your success. :)
