I think I'm going to just jump in and go Provari!

I think it's around $225 for the kit with batteries. I bought one of their blemished ones for $140 and spent another $40 for two 18490 batteries and the 18650 end cap since I have a bunch of them already.

Back on topic...

I love mine, but I wouldn't recommend it to someone that's totally new to vaping. Start out with something basic and cheap for a little while to get the hang of it. You don't jump into the deep end to learn how to swim.

The Provari is an awesome device (I love mine), but all options it has can just make vaping seem that much more intimidating, especially since beginners will screw up.
It's not that difficult to operate a multi menu single button device. It's only an ecig, not a rocket ship.

My 2 cents - I have a Provari Mini; top quality product with a year warranty! Because it is made so well it is a heavy piece of vaping equipment. While the provari mini is the best PV I have owned including well known wood and metal box mods, it is a hindrance to carry around at work in your pocket, go hiking and keep it in a pack back all due to the weight of the unit.

So I started with an EGO B setup a few years past and then the EGO Twist came out recently. Given I am went on vac in a few months ago with scuba, hiking, and other physical activities I could not fathom lugging the provari with me on all these outings. My answer was/is buy an EGO twist, use it with a tank and see if that will fit the bill.

Wow - I am impressed when the EGO twist is compared to the Provari mini for amount of vapor, vape time on a bat (not down to the minute) the EGO twist and Provari are not far apart.

Summary - think about portability of your PV, assure you will get good Variable Voltage Vaping, good battery life (1000 mah for EGO twist), and decent quality. Both will give you very good vape EGO twist wins in portability, Provari wins in quality. Buy the Provari mini and spend the bucks if you want just be aware that the quality dictates some weight issues when you’re doing physical activities.

I don't know about 1000mAh twist being more portable than a ProVari. They're the same length as a standard ProVari + extension.

As much as I can't wait for my provari to get to me in the mail, I still suggest getting a cheap eGo battery with some LR cartos first, this way you can decide if you even like to vape at all. I have a couple of guys on my ship that started vaping when they found out about it from me, out of the three of them, only one still vapes without smoking. I would hate to spend upwards of 250 bucks or so then decide you just can't get into it.

Seems a lot of the more "hardcore" ex-smokers go with the Provari. They really feel it gives the ultimate kick in the .... to quit analogs completely. Personally, I'm happy with my eGo Twist, but then again I was a 3/4 pack a day smoker, so this does me fine. I actually don't know much about the Provari, but I hear lots of good things, and lots of great things from ex-1+ pack a day smokers. It seems to work wonders for them.

Good luck kparks. I would suggest when you start with the provari, get rid of your lighters, ashtrays, cigs. Don't be one of those occasional smokers, one of the points of becoming a vapor is to reap all the benefits, including the health benefits. Keep it strait, you will not regret it, and will not go back.

There's different ways to quit the stinkies. Whatever works for you.

I allowed myself a few cigs a day when I started vaping. Over a week's time, I gradually disliked the cig's taste more and more, and enjoyed the vaping even more than that. When the cigs start tasting nasty, and they will, that onlly reinforces quitting the habit.

The Provari isn't a bad choice but it is a very expensive one. There are other options you should be aware of.

The Vario by Vaporbeast is coming soon, and it looks like it will outperform the Provari on several different levels at 1/3 the price ($80).
Also, the Lavatube 1.0 isn't a bad option either and they are on sale right now to make way for the 2.0 which is coming soon. I think they are $60 for the base unit. The Lavatube is inferior to the Provari in durability and function but for such a low price it's close enough.

i feel the provari is the best VV device. i think it opened my eyes to ohms resistnance, and wattage. understanding these things allowed me to dial in exactly what i wanted for a vape. it allowed me to succesfully put cigarettes down without amy relapse or anything. and the best part is thr knowledge the provari gave me can transfer to the rest of my vaping. i know know a kick cannot satisfy me. i learned to buy an extra battery to keep with me when and if volatage drops off. i learned alot of devices cannot handle the amperage drAW my vape requires.

bottom line

get onen

I started out with a standard 510, then an eGo, then an eGo-T, then a type 2 tank, and quite a few others before buying a Silver Bullet about 8 months after I started vaping. That was a year ago, and I haven't felt the need to buy any devices since. My advice would be to get the ProVari if that's what you want and have the money for it, but also get a good selection of different atomisers, cartomisers etc so you can try a few different options out.

As much as I want a Provari, I couldn't afford it at this time as a first vape battery along with the addtions to start. I just received my Vtube SS (30% off from Apollo) yesterday along with extra cartomizers and some juice. A smoker for 20+ years trying to quit several times I'm on my first 24 hours without a cigarette and vaping! If you can afford the Provari with a other stuff to start then I'd say go for it. If not, something like the Apollo Vtube will work as well. :)

I was speaking about the weight difference between the two.

The weight difference is significant, and a plausible reason. Different strokes for different folks, as they say. When I first started vaping, the Provari was a joke to me, as was the Saber Touch, the silver bullet, and every other enormous freaky mod on the market... Once I entered the world of mods though, I ended up liking the weight. Kindof a mental reinforcement that it's strong. But that's me.
