Ok so i want to quit smoking and have just brought myself an e-lite cigarette and i'm finding it more than satisfies my craving for an actual cigarette. The only problem is that every time i take a pull i have a massive coughing fit. I have heard that 100% vg e-tips are the best for not making you cough but I cannot find any where I live.

My question is do e-lites have e-tips that you can use with their "cigarette" that are 100% vg ? and if so where can i get them in the uk ? If e-lites do not do 100% vg then i guess i will have to switch to another brand. It will be a shame since I spent quite a bit of money on my e-light ciggarette, the charger and some e-tips but still, anything to get off tobacco. :)

Hello & welcome Tobacno from another UK ECF member :)

The e-lite isn't really a very good e-cig & their cartomisers "tips" are so overpriced. However, you can refill the "tips" with e-liquid of your choice from any of the good UK suppliers -

ALL ABOUT E-CIGARETTES UK - Recommended & new suppliers (e-cig/juice sellers)

As for them making you cough, it may be due to how you are inhaling on it. Try taking a drag, holding the vapour in your mouth for a couple of seconds (you will still absorb the nicotine this way) then exhaling. After a while, you can try taking the vapour into your throat when you have adjusted to the differnce between vapour & smoke :)

Hi, thanks for the advice and the link. Actually I have been doing what you suggested and holding the vapour in my mouth before inhaling. I found this mad me cough less but I am still coughing a little. I will look into what you said about refilling the liquid, i didn't know e-lights could be refilled.

what brand would you recommend ?

Hi, I had the same problem when i tried an e-lite style cig, upgraded to an eGo 1300 with clearomizer and it is a world of difference, much smoother even with the larger amount of vapour it produces, as for filling the e-lite there are quite a few vids on you-tube showing how to do it, but my thoughts are..is it worth the bother?, when a tank can be re-filled in seconds, rather than washing carts, leaving them overnight to dry, re-filling etc, seems like a lot of hassle to go through for a vape :)

LOl, I'm going to sound like an old record with the needle stuck & recommend his Riva kit as I know of so many people that have been been more than happy with it (including my next door neighbours)- use discount code ECF10 for 10% off -

The VE Riva 1100 Deluxe Kit £34.95 - Deluxe Vaping Kits - Riva 1100 Kit Electronic Cigarettes | Vaping Devices | Accessories | E-Liquid

Above vendors e-liquids, especially his Grizwald range, are excellent. But do also look at some of the other sellers in the list I've linked to. Bear in mind though That any e-cig that is the same size as a real cig will have very limited battery life. On the other hand a Riva or ego that is about the same size as a cigar will make all the difference in the world, especially if used with either something like Boge cartomisers or a vision ego :)

Wal1970, there is no need to wash cartomisers between refills, unless you are filling them with really strong flavour juices like menthol :)

i believe coughing when switching is a normal thing. i coughed for about a week. my hubbie is a part time vapor and does it to and thats part of the reason he wont switch full time. recently converted a friend when she did nothing but cough she was like i dont know if i can do this. i told her keep at it and let me know how its going in about a week. she called 6 days later and was like your right, im not coughing anymore, glad u told me to stick with it. she's now hooked! :)

When my friend finally decided (after seeing the former hard core smoker *me* be totally off cigarettes) to try vaping, she had been smoking for many many years, albeit Menthol Lites. She had begun her mornings for years hacking her lungs up.

After a few weeks vaping, with no coughing, she started coughing hard again. Turned out her lungs had woken up and were clearing out the crud. She has not coughed now in 9 months, she vapes steadily all day and her juices are 70PG/30VG mixes.

My conclusion is that we are all different, and our bodies react in different ways to the changes and the mixes.
