New here and seeking advice on Aspire BDC

Hi all,

I have only been vaping for about 1 week and am 3 days now without a cigarette. I currently have an EVOD Twist and went out today and bought an Aspire BDC hoping that the dual coil would give me a better "cloud"... It gives a cloud but it tastes HORRIBLE. What in the world am I doing wrong here? I turned my twist down to 3.2 V thinking that maybe I have it too high at 4.0v and it still tastes like.. well... it tastes like I am vaping burnt paper or something. The mix I am using is a 16mg blackberry 50/50.

Has anyone else had issues with the Aspire right out the box?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Yes. I never bought it, as a celebrity vaper in the UK reported dry hits and burnt coils continuously from out the box.
If someone who started vaping in 2009 and has built coils on youtube can't make the BDC work, then there is little hope.

HOWEVER - you can use the BVC coils, they are compatible. It's called "Nautilus re-born". Many UK vapers are reporting saving their "big" Nautilus from the trash bin.

Thanks for responding...can you please repeat ^^^^^ that in baby vaper speak for me? :) BVC coil? Are you saying I could just change the coil on my Aspire? (not that I know how to do any of that yet).

I can appreciate your problem... It was about a month into vaping that I learned never
to use an Aspire BDC until I made sure the wicks were soaked and primed.
Soaking first for about 10 minutes... and then without firing up the unit...
I inhale at least 2-3 (dry hitting) times without hitting the button... just to reassure the wicks are primed.
Since the time I learned that lesson... never have I suffered (dry) any burnt taste.
Wheather a BDC or any other type of coils... this is a lesson to learn and share.

Do you have the Nautilus tank first off. Or do you have the smaller tank that says "Aspire BDC" on it.

I have the smaller tank that says "Aspire BDC". You would not believe how many I have accumulated in a week just trying to get started! Its ridiculous, and I wish I had found this forum first. I want to get the right set up for me though because my mind has already told me..."see smoking cigarettes took nothing but to take one out of the pack and light it"... I will be actively participating in these threads. Anything to not go back to smokes!

I have filled and had it sitting for well over 10 minutes now..and "dry hitting"? Won't that bring juice up into my mouth?

Thanks for the response.

I put down cigarettes a month ago this past friday. I know what you mean. Stay strong. It will get easier. If you want awesome vape production a Nautilus is the way to go. However..."Clouds" are also produced by the amount of VG in your liquid. I use a 50/50 mixture with some 40/60 pg/vg on the way (18nic). If you want higher powered setup....I wouod suggest going with a Vamo V5 and a full size Nautilus tank (not the mini). Its affordable and maxes at 6 volts. The BVC will take all 6 volts and laugh at it. I have the exact same setup.

The Mod will run you somewhere between 30 and 40...the tank around 25-30 depending on where you get it...and the bvc's around 13-20 depending on where you buy for a pack of 5. I have been buying from Fluid Vapes and have had great experiences with them.

I also bought the Hollowed tank for the nautilus which was 12 bucks. Its sturdier than the stocj tank and eliminates seperation of the upper hardware as its all one piece.

This is my setup for the moment. Its easy and simple. If you search on ebay you can find people selling vamo/nautilus/bvc kits for around 80 or 90.

Hope this helps and if you need more help I am here to help.

Yea, that looks to be the ce5s. I have the same exact setup but in red and black. The problem is the BDC doesn't wick thicker juices very sell and and just tastes gross. I cant go above 3.8 on my ego with bdc tank.

It works ok if I add a little distilled water to it but the flavor isnt there.

Hey Lisa
About two weeks ago Aspire started selling a new coil to use in it's Nautilus and Nautilus Mini. The new coils are designated BVC. There are many threads about them but, in short, you can see what they look like and read about them here: Atomizer head for Aspire Nautilus BVC (V2)

If you want to delve into the details of the Aspire Nautiluses (Nautili?) you can browse thru some of the threads here: Clearomizers

The BVC are generally getting good reviews. Keep in mind when you get it they require a little breaking in period before the flavor and vapor become fully realized. So don't do like me and expect the Hallelujah Chorus on your first drag. It took a little while to get good and soaked and woken up.

Try that tank out with your twist. I can guarentee you, you will never look back. And once you get use to it you can upgrade to the setup I previously stated or something similar. The full size nautilus ships with bdc coils...so you still have to buy the bvc coils seperate. The link is the Nautilus Mini and ships with BVC coils and will work nicely with your twist battery.

I actually went with the intention of buying the Nautilus today and changed my mind. Wish I hadn't... Do you think the mini will work as well as the bigger one for me?
