Hiya. I am here because I am trying to bring health back to my family and need some advice doing it!

We ALL smoke and it's going to kill some of us and is already killing some of us.

I want us to go the vaping vs. smoke (I believe you all refer to them as analogs) way because lungs, breathing, etc. are the main issue.

I am trying to figure out all the lingo and such. I'm weeding my way through trying to see what would be good for each of us.

I personally smoke 6-7 smokes/analogs per day, filtered ultra lights. I'll probably go with one of those pre-filled auto ones, or a self-fill low nicotine percentage ones, yes?..

My hubby smokes 1 - 1.5 packs analogs per day, filtered lights. He'd probably be better off with one of those manual ones, higher nicotine percentage, and refilling it himself, yes?

And my mom smokes 3-4 packs of self-rolled analogs, no filter. She'll probably be best off with a manual one, REALLY HIGH nicotine percentage (what's the highest they make? 40 something?), and refilling it herself, yes?

I guess I'm just a little bit lost on where to start..

I've been combing through all of this. And I like the idea of blu's for me maybe a mini/auto 501, and probably the eGo for hubby and an eGo for my mom? Since she likes the filterless tho won't the eGo be a bit too .. big.. for her? Would a 501 be better for her just get her one of those pack chargers? Or something else? I need pointed in the right direction here!

Money is not a concern. I don't want ripped off, but it's not a concern.

I'm new too JME so not one to offer much help. But I will encourage you to keep going forward with this because you will all be much healthier and happier. I switched to e cigs 3 weeks ago yesterday and I feel GREAT! I can't believe how much better I breath and that I just don't get fatigued any more....I just move around much faster and without effort.
Good Luck
Ed

Never welcomed an entire family before but ... Welcome!
I think you might be real close to what you need and you can pick it all up quick at cignot.com The girls there sell the Joye 510 no-box kit and the eGo, and they ship very fast. Going with the 510 and eGos you'll be able to use the same atomizers and carts on either. Should probably stock up on a few extra atomizers and order some extra nic liquid from one of the recommended suppliers here on the forums. Pre-filled carts are not too bad to begin with but it can turn into money, fast. I recommend you all learn to re-fill carts. You'll be money ahead.
You mentioned getting an automatic 510 also. Personally, I would not get automatic. It's very easy for a new user to flood the atomizer with juice and that juice can get down into an automatic battery and kill it. My wife and I went through lots of 510 automatics (and money) before we decided the manual would be better.
Anywho, welcome again. Wife and I wish you all the best!

WillyB's suggestion to get all eGos and different levels of nic strength sounds like an even better idea.

I agree with this advice. Don't spend money twice. If you all get the same thing you can only stock up on the replaceables for one model. I also agree with the manual battery recommendation. Forget the auto's.

Good luck and congratulations on making a healthier decision.

Is there a sticky somewhere about what all supplies I will need to re-fill the carts?

I'm on all these various websites .. cignot, freedomsmokeusa, healthcabin, vsvapornet.. and I'm just like "There is so much STUFF!!!!!" "AHH!"

if you go with cartomizers you need two things.....cartomizers and juice.....keep it simple.....one advantage you have, since you are buying for three, is getting the orders large enough to qualify for free shipping at a lot of sites....

PS I agree with the recommendations about manual bats and everyone getting the same thing.....you will be happier....

And, I'm still concerned the thickness of the eGo, for my mom, might be an issue.

I don't really care. I just want something that actually works to get me to stop smoking before I have severe emphysema like my mom does. I've been trying to quit since I started!! I've done patches, gum, lozenges, prescription medications.. and I'm either allergic to things or they make me sick to my stomach or they make me crazy. And when I just cold turkey it, HA of all things, I get severely depressed (that kind of defeats the purpose of quitting doesn't it??)!!

And my mom is the same way. No, we're not under the same roof but she lives nearby :)

And my DH.. He watched me vomit repeatedly on the prescription pills and lozenges, get horrible rashes and have night terrors with the patches, and go kind of nuts on the gum.

Then one day my DH walked in the door with a disposable e-cig from a truck stop and I tried it and a light bulb went on and I've talked everyone into committing to this.

Thank you guys for all the input already.

Screw automatic, you definitely have to go manual. I would also recommend the cartomizers over the atomizer/cartridge setup. Much less hassle, cheaper, and holds much more juice. I've been vaping for around a year now after being a 2 pack a day smoker for 20 years and I couldn't be happier! And healthier for that matter...I can BREATHE again lol. Stick with it, and spend alot of time cruising these forums and gathering information BEFORE you make your purchases! I would've saved alot of money and experimentation if I'd have taken the time to be more well informed before I started.

For a heavy smoker like your Mom normal 510 batts might last all of one hour. Do you think the 'thickness' offsets the constant battery charging/swapping she may have to put up with using standard batts? She should be able to easily get 4-6 hours with the eGo on one charge/batt, for you maybe 2 days.

510 0r ego both use the same attys and carts. Good choice so you can swap pieces if needed. Lots and Lots and yes lots of juice and lots of attys is important.

Cignot.com is a great and well know supplier of all these things .
For juice tasty vapor or ms ts bakery are well known and a forum favorite.

do not expect to replicate or even come close to the analog you smoke for juice. It wont happen, just pick something you think you might like and go with it.

FYI The Ego looks big in pictures, in reality it is much smaller then a dime in diameter

I’m with the majority here: forget the auto batteries.
And either get a mod that uses batteries that last or get into building mods (see Modder’s section).

And don’t think it’s just for guys. I’m female and have built one.
I do have about ten auto batteries because I figured I’d want something “that looked like a cigarette” at times---I haven’t used one since after the first puff on the NicoStick. The majority of them have never been in the charger.

I'm pretty new--just been vaping for a week and I'm still smoking but a LOT less. I roll my cigarettes with skinny filters, and only fill 'em about half full--they're so little that people laugh at them! LOL!!! But the 510 is just fine for me, no problem with the size at all. And I just switch out which one is charging, so battery life really isn't an issue, either.

One thing I would suggest is getting BLANK cartridges, whether cartridge & atty separate, or cartomizers. The juice that's in the prefilled ones (at least, the ones I got at cignot) is NASTY STUFF!!!! It honestly tastes more like an ashtray than tobacco, and is extremely harsh. After the first one, we're rinsing 'em out and filling with the juice I got.

I ordered the Marlbro 24mg at cignot in both PG and VG, and a bottle of the 80/20 PG/VG. We're mixing 2 parts each of the flavored plus 1 part of the unflavored/no nic and it's working well for us. If I had it to do over, I'd have gotten a fruity or sweet flavor instead of the tobacco flavor. That surprised me! My next order will probably be at Tasty Vapor.

Good luck to all of you!

If I may offer another alternative, you can also get a 2-pc system from V4L, they also have different battery sizes (short, regular and XL) and, until you are into the swing of things, you won't have to worry about learning to refill right away, as they have prefilled cartomizers. Cartomizers are the atomizer and cart in one piece. They are refillable once you get the hang of how it all works. I am happy to answer any questions. I will say, 2 months into vaping, and I have given up the smaller batteries for a mod, but I think baby steps are best, getting OFF the analogs is most important. Why make it more cumbersome and increase a fail rate with something too complicated? Alink to their site: https://store.vapor4life.com/
