Hi. I smoked strong, non-filtered cigarettes for many years, but switched to Swedish snus 3 years ago, and haven't smoked since Oct. 2009. I like snus OK, but a couple of close friends recommended e-cigarettes as another, better & cleaner alternative delivery system, so I decided to try it.

I just ordered what my sister suggested: A Tornado Ego-C kit from Totally Wicked, and three 30ml bottles of juice. (I got tobacco flavored at 30mg strength). When it came in the mail today I watched a couple of YouTube videos on how to assemble it and read the informational stuff at the Totally Wicked website.

Wow! Love at first puff! I don't have anything else to compare it to, but the Ego-C seems quite well-made, and the nicotine hit is extremely effective and pleasurable...

... So I joined these forums as I will no doubt have questions... Mainly I want to get a sense of required daily maintenance: How long do batteries last? How often will I have to replace components such as atomizers, batteries, cartridges etc.? Can I set up a 2nd, fully charged unit from the kit and have it at the ready? Or if I do will the battery just drain and the nicotine juice dry out? What's the best way to keep it when not in use? Horizontal? Battery down? Mouthpiece end down?... What are the best styles, brands and retail outlets et al...

In short, I want to educate myself as to what's happening in the world of vaporized nicotine intake in all of its aspects.

I'm also interested in the broader societal implications of the demonization of tobacco in general, though I'm not going to get into that now.

Thanks for reading this. And any opinions on the Ego-C compared to other models people are using would be appreciated.

Welcome to ECF Ansah,

The Ego's are pretty good ecigs, they should go for about 300 charges (guesses a year). Atomizers are going to vary. I have run V3 stardust's for over a month each, but let my brother try it out and he gave it back to me with ruined atties. He didn't have the head to maintain them. I usually clean them out after every other tank.

You can have another setup ready to go, lot's of people do. They won't drain unless they are used, Just turn them off if not used for long periods (5 clicks on/off). Try to keep them standing if you have tanks on them, so they wont leak, but otherwise you can toss 'em in a drawer if you want.

Your going to find lot's of options for vendors in the ECF main page (scroll down), but a few of my fav's are Gotvapes, ecigcharleston, discountvapers and myfreedomsmokes.

As for the education part, read up and ask your questions when you have them, many people here are happy to help you.

Here's some of the best advice you will ever get.

You will want back-ups. Get 2 of everything.

Then get back-ups for your back-ups.

lol I wish I had seen this before I ordered when I started. When I started, I got 3 510 batteries and a pack of carto's. Long story short the charger I got was faulty and it killed two out of the three batteries. That was just under a year ago but it still wasn't the last time I didn't have a backup. Don't do what did, Get a backup, then get a backup for your backup.
