Hello everyone...new from the Bronx, NY. Some very interesting reading here but I think I'm even more confused on which E-Cigarette to buy. I smoke about 2 packs of Marlboro a day and I'm looking for something good to hopefully quit. I really don't mind spending more money but I really want something comparable in size to a regular Marlboro. Any suggestions for the newline?

Hello and welcome! You will find a LOT of great info here, so read up as much as you can.

There are many e-cig vets here (with a lot more knowledge than me) who can help you choose a good starter model that hopefully will meet your needs, at least until you gain experience and get a clearer view of exactly what you want. Don't hesitate to ask!

One suggestion I can make: Don't get too hung up on getting an e-cig that looks just like a real cig. I did that and, although the one I got works, it is not quite to my liking in things like vapor generated or "throat hit", so I'll be getting another one soon. I thought it would help simulate real smoking but the appearance actually has little to do with how well it will help you quit (at least for me).

Again, welcome, and good luck!

Hi! Congratulations on the decision to quit! I have to agree with azdave. I quit analogs about 8 days ago when I started vaping. My only requirement was pretty much same as yours. I wanted an e cig that would mimic my Marlboro Lights. I ended up with all KR808D-1 models, two of which are the Bloog MaxxFusion that are loved by many on this forum. They did indeed get me to quit analogs. After only my first drag on an e cig I haven't touched an analog since. That said, 4 days after starting to vape I placed an order for a GoGo (it arrived today and is absolutely awesome btw), which couldn't be more different then an analog if you tried. The Bloog and the other 808's are okay, and I will probably continue to use them in social situations because of their similarity to analogs, but there was just something missing for me. Since I'm such a newbie, I'm not going to try to steer you one way or another, but I would really encourage you to do as much reading here as you can about all the different models so you can get a feel for what people like and don't like about each of them. Hopefully you will settle on just the right model for you first try if you are armed with as much knowledge as you can cram before you make your final decision. The people here are pretty great and everyone seems so happy to help, so if you have specific questions you should definitely ask. Get your 5 posts in so you can ask what you need outside the newbie threads.

Good luck!

Don't get hung up on the whole 'gotta look like a cigarette thing'. First, cigarettes aren't the greatest looking things anyway- plus people hate cigarettes so who wants to look like they're smoking one? If you're a 2 pad smoker, you're priority will probably be TH, vapor production and length of battery life.

The mini (looks like a cig) need to be charged every couple of hours. Cartridges don't hold as much juice.

Larger pvs that produce more vapor, give more TH and have longer battery life don't look like a cigarette.

If you feel you need a pv that looks like a cig for you to get started, by all means select one like that. It might just get you into the world of vaping! I just wouldn't buy an expensive one because you'll probably want to get a different pv once you know you like vaping.

Whatever you get I recommend manual batteries.

And really - if you get something exactly the diameter and length of a marlboro then you will be replacing it within 2 weeks.

You need to go to at least 9mm diameter and 100-130mm long like a Joye 510, Joye 510 mega xl or a KR808D-1 (standard battery size) and I recommend manual. You will be charging a battery every 2-3 hours if you smoke 2PAD, probably more often with a standard 510. But with cartomizers they hold as much juice as a bigger model with cartomizers. Of those the KR808D-1 has the warmer hit - see Vapor4Life.com or LiteCigUSA.net - they both have manual kits.

If you want a lot more battery charge or the bigger hotter hits, then you need to go to the fat battery models like Ego and Riva 510

...about 3 months in here.

I took MistressNomad's advice on starter equipment...Kr808D-1. I've not regretted it. I now have a Mod and have built my another Variable Voltage Mod. Still, I find the Kr808D-1 satisfying and simple. As well I've noted it is much more convenient while behind the wheel...easy to stash in my shirt pocket if need be.

I'm now on to the (808-style) Vortex Cartomizers. They do show a lot of promise.

While my Mod can provide a full day of battey power at consistant voltage, I still like the lightness and simplicity of the Kr808D-1/Vortex at times. I probably lay it aside more frequently than I do the Mod.

A month ago I was in your shoes. After smoking analogs for 33yrs. I needed a cigarette like e-cig to make the transition. I got a KR808D-1 starter kit from V4L to get started. After a couple of weeks of making the transition I graduated to the Go-go. I took my time and didn't pressure myself and I'm doing great.

Welcome!! I recommend a "fat battery" 510 like the ego/riva/tornado/inferno to anyone new to vaping... ~$80 will you a wonderful starter kit that will keep you satisfied for quite a while. It will accept any 510 style atomizer/cartomizer and will even allow you to explore dripping, low-resistance, tank mods, etc. Also, the battery should last you close to a day... and if 1 battery doesnt last you a day, then the 2nd battery thats included with the kit surely will. The only regret I have is that I should've switched to vaping sooner... good luck!

I would recommend the Riva SE 750 kit for 30.00 at Liberty Flights if you want something small but if you want something that lasts all day without recharging or refilling buy a Go-Go for 60.00 at Cigars or Nhaler when they get them back in stock. They go pretty fast when they have them as they are becoming very popular with both newbies and old timers that have searched a long time trying all different kinds of PVs to find one that works as good as the Go-Go!

Last night I stopped in 7-Eleven and saw they had the Njoy for 20 bucks. I bought it just to see how these things are and strike 1. I didn't like the taste and it hit me in the throat harshly. First 20 down the toilet. I know for sure I don't like the Njoy. So, where do I go next? Thanks for all the replies so far......nice group.
