Hi there,

I am new here and to the vaping world. I just bought a starter kit from Volt yesterday(hope this was a good choice). I have decided to do this cause of my kids buggin me to stop smoking. I have tired to stop but just cant seem to. So I thought this would be the next best thing, and they seem happy with this to. I do have some questions tho, and hope you don't mind me asking. My first is does pass through mean?? I have seen the term on here many times and have no idea what it is. My second question is....how many of you were ex tobacco smokers and do u still smoke cigs or just vap only? Are there withdraw symptoms from cigarettes when switching to e-cigs??

Well that all for now. I hope I didn't ask to many questions here. I will be looking foward to hearing from here. Thanks

I've never used a volt but have heard good things about them.

A passthru is a great thing to have, it will keep you from having to charge your batteries all the time. Hits harder because of the higher voltage, you will get a stronger flavor from your cartos. I would recommend you get a manual passthru with a button so you can learn to drip. You will learn what this is sooner then later. :)

I quit cigs gradually after vaping, took about a month without any withdrawal.

Really you should learn about dripping you will save allot of $$$ buy using less cartos. :)

Welcome to ECF!!! It feels good to be cig free, dont get discouraged if you slip up from time to time. Just vape more, and get some stronger nic cartos and juice if you still are craving them. Good luck and GOD bless.

everyone else explained the pass-through pretty well, the thing they are best for is trying out high voltage vaping if you are not sure if you will like it as they tend to be less expensive than getting a battery powered mod.

I was an ex-smoker and have been vaping almost exclusively since Febuary. I had a pretty easy time quitting as I was only about a PAD smoker before and only for about 2 years before I switched and I didn't really experience any side effects but others have stated some "fuzziness" for a few days among other things while you withdraw from the thousands of other chemicals in analogs that are not nicotine. The primary cause of this is usually attributed to carbon monoxide withdrawl and should be far less intense than quitting entirely. There is a sub-forum dedicated to switching that you should read over if you have any more concerns about it.

oh and good luck and welcome!

Great choice on the Volt. I have one and it works really well. About as "cigarette-y" a vaping experience as you can get.

Never used a passthrough, so I can't speak to that.

As far as withdrawal, I didn't experience much. I only smoke cigs when they are offered as a social gesture...a few a week. You will laugh when you realize how gross smokes taste after you get vaping for a while.

congrats on the choice and welcome to ECF:) I was a 25yr 1.5PAD smoker and stopped after my batteries charged up. The cool thing about "Vaping" for me is that it is an active method to get off analogs. You are still using a device to inhale "vapor" and exhale "vapor". You still get the nicotine and throat hit TH without all the harmful byproducts. No more bad smells on clothing and hair. More energy and better general health.

What is not to love:)

I think you'll like the Volt starter kit...very close to the look and feel of an analog and performs well

A pass-through is a good product and has already been explained pretty well by everyone else, so I have nothing to add on that :)

Otherwise, congratulations and good luck with your decision and welcome to ECF!

I quit smoking as soon as I learned how to use my ecig. I was smoking between 1-1.5ppd for 12 years. 1 month has gone by and the very LAST thing I want is an analog. About 1 week in to vaping, I made that mistake in which I will NEVER let happen again. I forgot to load up a spare carto before going out for drinks with friends. After a couple hours of drinking and vaping I was burning up my carto...and I collapsed into taking one of my buddies analogs. I lit it up, took 2 drags...and thew it out. It was absolutely disgusting. Now even the smell if a cigarette bothers me. Stay with it, and ALWAYS be prepared! Good luck!
Oh and as far as the withdrawal symptoms, I personally had none. I started off with 24mg NIC level and have stayed with that. However I did find out that if I vape juice that is high in VG, I seem to get some sinus congestion.

First off I want to thank all you for the welcomes and well wishes:). I am both excited and nervous about doing this:unsure:. I am a 1 pack to 1 1/2 pack a day smoker and have been smoking for about 25 years. Just the thought of not having my smokes just about sends me into a panic8-o lol, but I think with the e-cig around I will do ok. Once I get it in the mail I am not going to buy anymore packs(hopefully). My kids will keep me inline to lol.
This site has been so helpful in making this decision. The amount of info here is great!!! It is alot to take in, but I will hopefully be able to fine an e-cig that works for me!!!

mtv0987- yes, that is another reason i wanted to try this route.

Stosh- the routine at work has me a bit worried. While at work I go out with some friends that smoke, its like our social time while there for the long hours during weekend(we work 16 hr shifts). Most of them are supportive, but the non-smokers will be happy that I won't be gone from the department lol.

Watch how many of your smoking friends at work switch over to vaping... It won't take long once they see it working for you. I always carried an extra starter kit with me to sell. And. Became an affiliate with my favorite ecig vendor. I got a lot of free carto packs in the beginning. :) I was up front with them, they new I would get a little kickback on their first purchase.
