Hi! I'm new to this forum and semi new to vaping. I attempted this a looong time ago but got so obsessed with it looking and feeling like a real cigarette that I ended up with a cigalike and it was disappointing to say the least. Last night I bought the Kanger Evod Starter Kit and so far, I love it. Eventually my plan is to get off of traditional cigarettes altogether but I'm taking it nice and slow. Any advice on my journey is not only welcomed but encouraged and in the meantime HI!

One piece of advice--pat yourself on the back for every cig you don't smoke during the day instead of beating yourself up for them. One day (soon, I'll bet) you will light up a cig and it will taste so bad you will never want another.

Also, make sure you have backups for everything--something to use to vape while one battery is charging, extra toppers, a couple of e-juices that you love.

Come here often--in addition to getting info (some of which will likely get you in trouble using your credit card:) ), many people here will provide support as you try to get off the smokes full time.

You will do great and your body will thank you! :vapor:

All of this and get backup gear and maybe a back up for the backup! :vapor:

I found that the worst thing you can do is stress over the cigarettes. It's kind of like the forbidden fruit...... once you decide you can't have it, you want it more. We've all been there where you decide you're going to quit smoking and seems great until you're looking regretfully at the last one in your pack. My advice is to try to knock off some of the triggers and vape where you'd usually smoke. Other than that, have a smoke if you want one. Just by having them available, you've knocked off a lot of the attraction.

For me, I just leave them in my desk at work and don't even bring them home. If I want one badly, I have the comfort of knowing I can have one when I get to work. Now I don't really even think about it at home anymore. At work, I avoid smoking at the times I usually smoke, like at lunch and smoke between those times when the urge hits me. I'm finding that I'll notice it's been hours since I had a smoke, or even thought of it. I'm down from a pack a day to a pack a week. My next step is to start lowering the nic content in my juice.

Hello Princess! Welcome to the forum. When I started out I intended to skip all of the cigs. I could by vaping. I just vaped when I had the urge to smoke. The next thing I knew I had went a whole day without a cig. I just kept vaping to satisfy the smoking urge. Now I'm over 90 days without a cig. You can do it too. Good luck.

I smoked a pack a day of Camel 99s. I never really intended to quit smoking. I enjoyed smoking. I only started vaping to use it as a supplement for times where it was inconvenient or not possible to smoke.

As I found a good ecig and began to experiment with non-tobacco flavors I found myself enjoying vaping more than smoking. I never hit a point where I said "today I quit smoking". Quit the opposite, I walked around with a half pack of cigarettes for 2 months "just in case I want one". I just found that I smoked less and less until I wasn't smoking anymore, it was never an intentional or deliberate decision.

You're off to a great start with the Evod. It's a really good starter kit. Now the only hard part is finding that special flavor that you enjoy. Once you do that then quitting the stinkies will be really easy, they won't taste as good and they won't smell as good.

I have found 2 flavors I love. I went to a B&M to get everything and they had a sample bar set up so I could try their juices and I grabbed 2 that I really enjoyed. Neither one of them even remotely cigarette flavored.

I love the samples, I'm sure I'm using up way to much of the staffs time, but they seem willing. I also avoided the the tabacco flavors, but I found I was missing it with my morning coffee so I picked up one yesterday. Now I need a new tank so I can change it out before I leave for work.

Hello! My name is Indigo Montoya...you killed my father...prepare to die!

Haha...sorry...I love that movie ;)

Anyway...as you wish...congratulations on the smart decision to make the switch to vaping. I've been at it almost a year (after smoking for 17 years!...bleh!) and as time goes on it's only gotten easier and easier to not want cigs any more. Once you are accustomed to vaping and begin learning some of the ins and outs (preferred juices, devices, etc.), you will likely realize what a superior experience vaping is to smoking. It's so much cleaner, refreshing, tastes better, you will no longer stink or burn your clothes, and you'll smell "that smell" on a smoker and wonder how the heck you ever allowed yourself to be so disgusting!

welcome the ECF. sounds like you are off to a wonderful start.. in my opinion the key to success in stopping smoking is wanting to quit. if you don't really want it (deep down inside) you will find it easy to go back to the convenience of firin' one of those bad boys up. if you stick with it you start to notice the health improvements and the enjoyment of taste and smell.personally i have also noticed a definete improvement in attitude on my part... seems another un-looked for benefit is simply enjoying life without cigs, and life in general. hang in there and best of luck....any support you need is as close as your keyboard..:D

Best advice I can give is just don't rush into anything.... take things at your own pace. Also when you do give up the analogs, make sure you keep some higher nic juice for those days that find you wanting a smoke. That will curb your cravings. :toast:

Then you're WAY ahead of the curve here. Most of us take weeks or even months to find the right flavor for us.

So, you've got a good kit and flavors you like. The hard part is done. Nothing to do now but enjoy vaping and begin to enjoy routine things like eating a meal as your sense of taste and smell returns. (Seriously, about a month after my last cigarette my wife and I went out to our favorite restaurant and it was like a whole new experience. EVERYTHING tasted so much better! Our glasses of water had a single thin slice of cucumber in it and my wife was amazed at how strong the cucumber taste and smell was.)

Welcome, Princess (and hello to TeePee, too)! I think the Evod kit is great for beginners, because that's what I started with, and I didn't smoke another cigarette after I got mine. I had the Blu starter kit for a few days, and it let me know that the e cigarette concept might work for me, but I knew immediately that I needed something better.

I wish both of you newcomers continued success in this great adventure called vaping.:)

I am still pretty new to vaping as well but I have to say - the smoking cessation happened sooo naturally for me. My plan was to do both while gradually cutting back on the baddies. I know everyone is different but it didn't happen that way at all for me. After only just a few days of vaping, I was preferring to vape rather than smoke and I didn't even realize it! After a couple of days of only vaping, I lit up a baddie and it tasted so gross that I put it out after the second puff. Haven't smoked since.

I hope it is as easy and natural for you as it was for me! Good Luck!!
