Well, I finally understand why all you 510 guys insist on the manual batteries...

I just got my replacement 510 kit from TheVaporPro and was not happy when both batteries were as fluky as the original two I got. These are supposed to be the "New & Improved Automatic batteries" but they seem defective to me.

All 4 of the batteries I received have random cutoff times between 1.5 and 3.8 seconds. To be sure I used an online stopwatch program (http://www.online-stopwatch.com/full-screen-stopwatch/).

I clicked the mouse when I started to draw, and again when the light went off. Here are the results (in seconds):

1.8, 3.7, 2.7, 3.2, 3.5, 3.5, 1.8, 1.7, 2.5, 2.9, 2.5, 1.9, 1.7, 2.3, 2.5, 2.0, 2.1, 1.9, 3.1, 3.0, 2.8, 2.2, 1.8, 2.6, 1.8, 3.8, 1.8, 3.1, 1.9, 1.5, 1.5

I am used to taking long, slow draws on my 901 (4-5 seconds). With the 510 I am forced to take two 2-second draws or I get a random result and just waste liquid. I will definatley be purchasing some manual batteries.

Is anyone else having this issue with 510 auto batteries or is it just these so-called "New & Improved" ones from TheVaporPro?

I Had That Same Issue Until They Died A Few Days Later (a few months ago).

I would Suggest To Try The Newer 510 Manual Batts, They Are Definetly Improved. I Already Got A Good Couple Weeks Out of Them and Their Still Going Strong!

All My Older (1st Came Out) 510 Auto Batts Had An Early Death, All (4) Of Them.

Rob @ Altsmoke Hooked Me Up On The Newer 510 Manual Batts. Thats What Happened With Mine...

Believe it or not, we 510 users just might use an automatic battery if the damn things worked! :)

But they are all junk and what you are experiencing is normal. I had one automatic battery that didn't have a cutoff at all. I was thinking...great, they have fixed these things. Then 5 minutes later I couldn't get any more than a 3 second drag out of it and it stayed that way even after a recharge. So I then exchanged it for a manual battery. I'll never try an automatic battery again, no matter how many times a supplier says they are new and improved!

I have a great automatic 510 battery. Just lucky, I guess. It performs like a champ. No random cutoff whatsoever. I actually prefer it to the manual. But given all the problems people have had with them in the past I'm unlikely to take a chance on another one. I'll stock up on switched batteries and just enjoy this working automatic until it dies of old age.

Judging from my limited sample size (4 old + 6 new auto batteries), the short cutoff problem is indicative for the faulty, old batch. It might be important differ between the various 510/Dura product generations. I had two original sets (4 x matte black, blue LED) of the first Dura batch, sold by Janty-Europe in January 2009. The original automatic batteries had a huge problem (short cutoff kick-in, exceptionally quick degeneration and early death). All of my old batteries had since been replaced on warranty, and I have had no issues, what so ever, with the new and improved batch of automatic batteries (in constant use for up to now 6 weeks).

The new generation automatic batteries have been redesigned and can be told apart as follows: New batch auto battery is slightly shorter, steel tube length (tube without thread and cap) is about ~ 6.3 cm as opposed to ~ 6.4 cm for the old batch. The central hole diameter, where the battery connects to the atomizer, is slightly smaller for the new batch (~ 1.5 mm), as opposed to ~ 2.0 mm for the old batch. Old batch is blank at the inside of the battery-to-atomizer connection. New batch of batteries (as sold by Janty-Europe) carries a laser stamp, reading ‘0309’ (probably the production date). Finishing of new batch shows a better match to the matte black colour of the plastic cartridges. So, yes, there are distinctive product generations, and I have experienced much improvement.

I only have one auto batt that came with my titan. It is stamped 0409. When I first got it the auto cutoff seemed very reasonable and predictable. But, now it has become very inconsistant. Time will tell if the situation gets better or worse. I really prefer the manuals.

Kevin

FYI: Sorry, It Will Get Worse & Never Better... The 0409 Stamp Is Usually The Month & Year Of Production On That One. The Fact Is Auto's Always Last Less Then Manual Batts. Further Note That The E-Cig Batteries Are Too Small To Do What Their Doing. They Just All Burn Up In Time. Some Differences You May Find Is Some May Last Longer Then Others, But Thats How It Is At This Point In Time..

Howdy - stupid question from a noobie... what is the best way to use the "manual" battery? I have the Titan 510. Is on the charger as I type... figured I would leave it on for 4-5 hours... although the light was green when I put it on. How do I use it best when it is done with the 4-5 hour charge? The manual really says nothing about how to use the button. I mean, do you press the button, keep it pressed while you drag. Then release when you are at the end of the drag? That "seems" to be the way??? Again, sorry for the stupid question. Thanks to any and all for replies.

Hi,

Charging: 1st Charge 4 to 8 Hours, 2 to 4 Hours After That.

Try This But Also Read The Other Threads, Everyone has Different Views, But Try This Basic Technique Out:

Put 2 Drops On Top Of Your New Atom & Let In Soak in A Few Minutes. Get A New Cart, Make Sure its Wet Or Full and Push It All The Way. Depress Button a Second Or So Before Taking Some Small Puffs (I Assume It's New) and Let Go Of Button. Do That Several Times Over A Minute (Rest It 10 Secs or So In Between). Now The Atom Should Be Ready To Go. Depress Button for 2 to 4 Seconds and Puff / Inhale at The Same Time. Play With It Until You Get Used To It And Figure Out How You Like it. Just One Warning, I Would Not Depress The Button Longer Then 5 to 7 Seconds, It Will Get Too Hot & Wear Out Faster. You Should Fine Your Pace Probably Around or Between 2 to 5 Seconds Estimate For Vaping.

The 510's Burn A Lot Of Juice, Thats Were The Throat Hit Is So Keep An Eye On The Cart Maybe After 15 Puffs or So, You Will Need To Top It Off With A Few Drops Between 5 to 25 Puffs Depending On How You Vape. If It Taste Burnt and / or Not Much Vape Time To Top It Off. Do Not Run It Dry Or You Will Cook The Atom Up..

Try Something like That Until You Fine Your Groove. :D

There is no laser etching inside of my batteries.

I made another "odd discovery" in that it works much better (the battery that is) if it is pointed sharply downward. The cutoff times are shorter as you bring it up to level. If pointed straight down it will draw for a full 5 seconds.

Why do I have a sinking feeling that these batteries won't last long... Any suggestions for a US supplier that has good manual batteries with LED's in stock? I see the no LED versions all over the place but I would prefer one with the light.

Thanks CellMeister, I appreciate the feedback and advice. Will give it a shot. It's kind of funny though... took the manual off the charger after 4 hours... and have been using it... as of right this minute... does not quite seem to produce the amount of vapor as my Npro... but does "seem" to be getting better over time. (-;

We'll see... thanks again for the advice. Love Vapin!

Thats good to hear. :D

I would try another atom in another day if your not getting more vape then that.

Every atom is different (yes even brand new), I have had some 510 & Dura's that sucked brand new, even after a long breakin.

Hope that helps! ;)

i got a auto dura and original Yeti from rob back in feb. and im still useing both dura batts with no problems and only one of yeti batteries died and that was like a week ago. i just ordered a couple more auto batteries from TW and i hope these work as well as the ones that i got months ago. i read about all these problems people have had with the 510 and my experience has been totaly different. the only battery issue i have had was when a maual battery that came with the kit i got from electronicstix had a bad switch and jason replaced it for me.

I'm rapidly reaching the conclusion that supplied batteries for, at least, the 510 are a waste of money. If nothing else for the constant changing of them, which does get frustrating and old.

I looked at the screwdriver and others of that ilk and figured they were too expensive, but after fighting with the batteries one gets with these PVs (any of them) I no longer think so. I've spent enough on batteries to have a couple SDs or equivalent at this point.

Or maybe build something like the SD or Janty Stick, goddess knows we should certainly have enough dead or worn out batteries to have a GOOD collection of connectors :).

I'm surprised you are still using your 510 with that shiny, custom Janty-Stick you have.

Actually I Am A Very Heavy Vaper I Believe. I Have (3) Pipes, (2) 801's, (2) Dura's and (1) Yeti All Fired Up Where Ever I Go. Now Add The Stick To The Mix!

If I Use (1) Device I Will Kill It Fast, I Am Constantly Vaping...

FYI Noobie/ DigDreams, On Your Post After This That The 510 Kills The Flavor Shows How Green You Are, Its A Fact That The 510 / Dura's Produce The Most Flavor!

So Go Back To Your Little 510 & 901 Or What Ever You May Have and Go Vape Yourself Away!
