Hey guys! I actually haven't bought anything yet and that's where I believe you guys come in ;) How should I approach this? Should I get a starter pack or build my own? The taste (of e-juice) is the most important thing for me. I'm not sure if the equipment changes that or not but like I said, most important thing. The amount of ehm.. "vape" output I want normal.. Nothing too much or too crazy. The size doesn't matter too much but I'd prefer it on the smaller end.

Before this I was looking at the Triton II vape pen from halo, But it seems more expensive than other pens and I'm not sure if its right for me or not.

Also, sorry if I sound stupid.. like I said I'm new!

This is a fantastic starter kit with a lot of bang for the buck.

Aspire Premium Starter Kit

I had one like this, but I bought all of the elements separately, so it cost me a whole lot more. With this kit you get a battery, a Nautilus Mini tank, a wall adaptor for charging, a usb cord for charging and five coils. The only thing I suggest you buy along with this kit is one extra battery, so one can be charging while you are vaping the other.

Here's another battery that would work with the kit above, or you could just get two of the kits so you'd have two tanks and additional coils as well.

Aspire CF VV+ 1000mAh Battery

Best of luck to you!!

Welcome @Kamnet and I hope you enjoy your stay!

I started with Cig-A-Likes but my first MOD was a "Kit" which was the iStick TC40W and a Nautilus Mini tank. I feel it is a great starter kit with the cigarette like draw and nothing too crazy with the "clouds". For easy of use it is great and does allow for you to move upwards into Temperature Control when you are ready or want to experiment. Although there are many more models available it is a good starter kit that I have helped advise many to start with. Remember it is just my personal opinion.

Hello and welcome! Giving us as much information as you can will help us help you. Do you smoke? How much? Do you direct lung hit or mouth to lung hit. Do you prefer internal, or external batteries? Anything else you can think of to add will help otherwise your going to get a wide range of suggestions that may or may not work for you.

This is actually a wise question. It's very likely it's more expensive and available elsewhere for less money only not with the brand.

I'm sorry to say the e-cig business is multi-layered with too many businesses simply making out they are selling unique products. Very few do. Almost everything comes from the same places so paying $99 for a $29 e-cig is what most of us in the community try to stop people doing. Halo isn't that bad... but the principle is the same.
There are worse brands. I've seen $20 tanks on sale for $59.99 because they can get away with it.

Hi & welcome Kamnet
Most of started with something and ended up gravitating to something, and in many cases many something's, else. A lot will depend on your budget, the availability of vape gear, etc. tell us what country you live in and what you're willing to spend.

There are two broad categories of vapers between the MTL's and the DTL's (mouth to lung vs direct to lung). Generally the MTL's prefer the smaller devices, tighter air flow, smaller clouds, and use lower power. The DTL's more often use the larger devices, freer air flow, bigger clouds, and often a lot more power. Of course there are lots in between.

Doing more reading would help you decide which way you might want to go which would undoubtedly impact which device to start with. Kits are usually a good idea for a beginner as it takes away the concern of whether you are combining the right components in a safe and workable manner. Keep asking questions, we're all here to help. :)

Okay well since a couple people asked in different ways, I'll just make a general reply. Believe it or not this was recommended to get rid of another bad habit..but it's not smoking. I'm a non smoker..I've never smoked. Never vaped either. I hope no one gets mad at me for saying that but I want to make it fun too. I want to know a lot about e-juices and flavors for a reason.. I'm going to stay away from nicotine. So at least all you smokers who are trying to quit can respect me for not starting anything, I plan to use it responsibly ;)
--and from that I also do want to know about any risks from this or ingredients I should stay away from.

Also from Smoke_Too_Much's description I'm guessing I'll be more of a MTL. Oh also, I live in the US and my budget isn't really limited however I don't plan to spend big bucks on this either. I don't need the best gear in the world but I need high enough quality for the gear to last. I don't plan on getting anything more than a backup battery. I don't want to buy anymore than one for a while.

No problem with vaping 0 nic juice. Some people vape because they have a sweet tooth and don't want to eat sweets. There are tons of great juices out there. My favorite juice vendor is Ahlusion and they specialize in fruit juices, but they make great dessert and tobacco juices as well. If I were to suggest only one Ahlusion (AHL) juices for you, I'd recommend Mango Lassi. I don't remember ever hearing anyone say they didn't like it. Some other AHL favorites of mine are Moonlight Serenade, Calypso, Lychee Coconut Smoothie, Sapphire and CocoBerry Cream.

Custom

You might also want to look into getting a sample package of juices from a vendor like Halo or Good Life Vapor. That way you can try several small quantities of juices for not so much money and get a feel for what will satisfy you.

Thank you JustWondering1! You made be feel a bit better because I know doing this for fun isn't always accepted. I do want it to help my sweet tooth though so I hope you're right! Thanks for the recommendations as well, I'll look in to those companies & flavors. If you have any more places to get either juice or pens please share :)

The kit I recommended and the gear Steve recommended are both designed for MTL vaping.

I'm assuming your from the states. For all thats going on with the FDA trying to restrict, ban, tax or all sorts of things to hinder us vapers your best bet is to buy something you can rebuild and learn rebuilding attys. I was rebuilding within the first couple months of discovering vaping and sure have had exceptional vape experience these last 4 years. Within the next year or two some factory coils might disappear. I had nothing but success with the good old protank 1 and 2 with a airflow adapter. They are cheap now and get yourself some 30 gauge kanthal, cotton(100% cotton balls from the drug store), few other simple tools along with plenty of tutorials on YouTube. They are the simplest to learn to rebuild on making 1.5-2.2ohm coils that work the best with the PT. After you learn to build and vape the protanks then start to drift in to other attys.
I do feel sorry for the new vapers who are are realizing that vaping is the cure to quitting smoking and all the grief that both the US and Canadian governments are about to dish out to us. That's why looking into rebuilding your own coils and making your own juice cause if they aren't going to ban it then they will tax it to death to make vaping as expensive as smoking.

Sorry, but I have to disagree. Learning to rebuild is much easier with an RTA than on a Protank. The best would be to go for the middle ground and get a tank that takes prebuilt coil heads and also has an rba deck option. It's a long time since I used clearos so I can't recommend a specific tank though.
