If you buy the colored, rubberized 'skin' for the eGrip, it adds enough clearance from the actual bottom of the unit that the screw-in base won't protrude when you're vaping on BVC coils - this allows the unit to sit upright and perfectly level.

I actually have one of the rubberized cases already which does indeed help. I don't use it all the time though and the little bump from the base doesn't even really wobble that much without it so it doesn't bother me anymore.

Hi guys, I bought the egrip a few days ago and I am having some issues with it. It seems to fire fine for the first couple of hits but after that it only fires for a second or two and the light on the button starts flashing. That would seem to indicate a short but I tried both of the factory heads and I get the same result. I tried a BVC coil head and it does that as well. Lastly, I tried the RBA base with the factory build and my own build. Everything seems to result in the same thing with the button blinking after a second or two of pressing it. I've also turned the device on and off, recharged and did everything I could possibly think of. Anyone else experience similar issues?

I've been having this issue on and off since the beginning with my device if you refer back to some of my previous posts. I initially thought this was caused by water damage by accidently getting water into the USB charge port, but I'm starting to think that had nothing to do with it as I'm not even 100% sure if I even got water into it (just assumed that was the cause). As far as I can tell when this happens to my device, nothing I do to it will correct this problem but somehow it eventually starts working if I leave it alone for a while. I usually keep messing with it here and there to see if anything has changed and it seems pretty random when it 'decides' to start working again. I've tried everything from varying degrees of the base being screwed in, charging, using it in passthrough, trying different coils/bases, etc, and whatever the problem is, none of those things seemed to fix it. So when it randomly starts working again, I can only assume it was... just random? I mean I'm sure its something else but I can't tell what it is. I say if the device is still fairly new, try returning it for a different one. I wish I could with mine but sadly I think I may have missed that window. For the time being, it is working great. It usually seems to happen after I change the coil or remove the base and clean it. I really don't think cleaning it has anything to do with it and it could be coincidence that it happens after I remove the base but yea... I have literally tried almost everything including removing the bottom panel and digging around in the internals.

Just buy some bottles with plastic needle ends, that have regular ejuice caps. That's all I use now. Vicki at Cignot has them and they are GREAT:
https://www.cignot.com/product_p/msc-drp-bot.htm

you get TWO bottles for $2.00, can't beat that. Pick up some supplies for your egrip there while yer at it, cuz you don't wnt to pay shipping just for a $2.00 bottle order.

MSC-DRP-BOT-2T.jpg
Awesome! They look good. Unfortunately I'm from the UK, need to start digging around or hit up fast tech and see what they have. Nothing really in the UK regards to that.

I was at my grandsons birthday party yesterday and played just a little basketball with my daughter. While attempting a layup (that I missed by the way) in a game of HORSE, my eGrip bounced out of my shirt pocket and landed solidly on the concrete floor  After a quick assessment everything seemed find and I thought to myself, wow its pretty durable :D So A few minutes later I tried a jump shot from 3 point land, my Egrip again bounced out from my shirt pocket and landed solidly again on the concrete floor  :censored: After another quick assessment everything again seemed fine and I went on playing :D only this time I put it in my pants pocket, not wanting to tempt fate.

After the game, I went for a few long draws on my eGrip. I pulled it from my pocket and quickly noticed too my hand was wet with juice :?: I examined the unit closely and noticed I cracked the glass on both sides so severely that I could feel the cracks when I rubbed my finger across the breaks :censored::censored: Then I thought, oh well there's still half a tank there that I could still vape from, but no, the fire button was gone to and only the turn dial was left  After getting home last night I ordered a replacement. I only had this unit for 1 week too.

I've now reverted back to my backup spinner and kanger clearo system and man don't this system suck when compared to my eGrip. The taste is now nasty, the throat hits are gone and the satisfaction after getting a great draw is no longer there. The Joyetech kayfun system in the eGrip is an amazing device. I can't and won't go back to the clearo atty system. It's going to be a looong week at work and at home until my eGrip arrives :(

Man that really sucks! I'm sorry to hear that. On the brighter side, at least you'll have some spare parts for your new one.
I've been on the hunt for a spare glass tank for fear of mine cracking someday.....haven't found one yet, hopefully they'll start selling them.

I think I'm the only person who never had issues with the 510 connector on the IStick. Then again I always use the EGO adaptor (the clearos in the picture are Kanger EMOWs which are the bee's knees).

One thing to note about the Mini that I didn't realize until I got it: it's a variable-voltage device, not variable-wattage like the normal IStick. And of course, the battery life is less than half that of the normal IStick.
Still, cute as a button, much less conspicuous to my mind than an EGO battery, and only $18.13 plus shipping at the excellent Chinese site CVapor.

I had a good run with the RBA base but i think i’m throwing in the towel. Poor attempts at building my own coils, finding the perfect amount of cotton to use, going Sherlock on why my egrip wasn’t firing, preventing leaks, and investing ridiculous amount of time just maintaining the little devil was all a great learning experience in the world of RBAs. i have gotten so consumed with the thing and have been tempted to order things like a coil jig, ohm reader, extra mod to dry burn and stuff, and different wires and cotton. Kind of funny because i got the RBA to save money since the cs coils are pricey.

I just ordered a pack of BVC coils and GS-air coils since both are compatible and half the price and see which one i prefer and stick with it.

Definitely have to thank this thread for solutions and info, gotta say i enjoyed the process with this community.

I know how you feel. When I first gotten into vaping I found myself chasing that all elusive perfect vaping experience. In the end I had to just go with what worked best for me. I kept with that one device for almost 2 years and stayed off the messaging boards. There will always be modders looking for a perfect vape, don't get lost in the fog of modding. Find something you enjoy and comfortable with and get back on with your life.

Ha, I can totally relate.. think most of us probably went that route at some point, but for me personally, it is just too much work for me and I want to keep my vaping simple. I think you will be pretty happy with the BVC coils, I've put my RBA base aside for now, maybe mess with it some more in the future but I'll most likely keep using the BVCs since they give me a great vape. You can keep the BVC coils going for a while if you clean them when they start getting a little blah. I usually take out the bottom pin and rinse it under hot water and soak them for a bit. If you keep your finger over the hole where the bottom pin was, the water will come out of the wick holes and push out some of the juice for a better cleaning. I like to also blow through the top of the BVC hole with my finger over the bottom so the air pushes some of the juice out of the holes after I'm done to help it dry faster. You might get some juice in your mouth but I just do this several times while rinsing until I don't really taste any juice coming out so I know it's cleaned well. Might be too much trouble for some but that's what I do if I feel like keeping my BVCs running for a bit longer, especially if I get a really good coil.

Hello I got a quick question. What material is used to cover the wooden egrip? I belive it is not a real wood or paint. So when it wears of or gets damaged is there a silver metal surface under there? Is it possible to remove the wooden finish? Im about to buy one and inbetween wooden and silver.
Thanks.

I got my "wood" Egrip today. The surface appears to be some kind of matte hard plastic that is not textured (just in appearance). Doesn't feel cheap and it's smooth just like the silver, but I feel like my silver one has a better finish. It's definitely less metal feeling obviously and there are some imperfections around some of the edges where you can see a bit of silver underneath. Now, I wouldn't go ahead and say that if you manage to peel or pry off the outer wood surface that it'd look exactly like the silver Egrip, but it does seem like the wood surface is applied over a silver type surface. I think the wood one looks great, but I really like the silver finish as well. I don't think you could go wrong with either. The wood, black, and camo probably have the same type of surface material and finish although I've never held a black or camo one so I'm not 100% sure. I dunno, maybe the black one has more of a rubberized surface like the old Ego penstyle types? Maybe someone else can fill in on this. But if you're worried about it looking unaesthetic if the surface gets chipped or damaged, I'd just go with the silver, or get a skin/wrap for it. I'll try to post a pic after it's done charging.

And do you take the same level of care with other of your vulnerable devices? I'm sorry for your misfortune but attribute it to nothing more than human error.

Don't give up on the RBA - Get a bunch of pre-wrapped, pre-wicked egrip coils from sweetvapes. They are cheap and they last a few days - easy to re-wick them if you want or just stock up. I can swap the coil almost as fast as I can change a premade head. Just trim about 1/16" off the wick, center it and vape. Its worth it the .65 cents every few days for a better vape. I would also advise getting the RBA 510 adapter so that you can wet and fire them before you install them because some of them start too low and wont fire in the egrip right away. Normally when this happens I just fire them on another mod and they go up to 1.2ohm and work good after that.

Was this the first device you've broken? Well.. either way... may your next device not suffer the same unfortunate fate. Now you know to take your device out of your pocket and put it somewhere else before activities that involve jumping. :D

Oddly enough, I have not dropped my Egrip yet *knock on wood* but I've dropped my iStick a bazillion times. Not sure why. It usually happens when the device is sitting in my lap and I forget its there and stand up and it falls on the floor. I haven't broken anything from dropping it but I've definitely lost some stuff from being drunk and leaving it at a bar. But so far it's only been 2 Ego Twists back in the day so I guess it's not that bad.

Unless you misinterpreted my little story of mishap, it was quite obvious it was my own fault. Of course it was human error. Simply passing on a misfortune that might make someone stop and think. I'm sure I would probably do it again.

I did consider a replacement glass, but I had read in previous posts in this thread of someone replacing their glass and it was not a simple thing. Unless there was a change in design, apparently there is a small screw hidden/tucked away just under the top cover plate. Besides I didn't wont to prolong the inevitable. The way I look it now, I have an expensive parts unit.

I wished I had purchased the silicone cover at the same time I bought the eGrip. I had gotten the silver unit and hadn't realized until it arrived how slippery it would feel in my hands due to the finish. I did end up ordering a silicone wrap two days later and it arrived just yesterday, one day after mine broke. I was already afraid I was going to drop it so I was handling it with care. I'm going to have to be a little more aware of my activities from now on. I've broken two spinner batteries in the past two years due to activities (I won't wear lanyards), but replacing those units wasn't as hard on my wallet.

The wood one belongs to a friend who sent it to me to see! I have three others, all with different color skins:D

I can see why people have more than one... I thought I would stop eyeing the one I gave my fiance after I got mine but now I see it wasting away and want to load it up with my juice and have one for each hand, lol
