I think you helped me figure out my leaking issues...took a close look and none of the air holes on my chimney line up with the coil ends...not even close. To have the wick cover two holes would mean a serious angle to the coil and long wick ends swept around. Can you guys tell me if the air holes on yours line up with the coil ends? With the chimney snug 2 of mine line up perfectly with the screws. Will have to look if rotating coil 180 so legs go in opp side will help any...?

Thats good, you don't want two holes to line up with the coil. Leaving two holes open resulted in gurgling every time for me. The rba works best for me when cotton is in front of all four holes. In front of, but not smashed into the holes.

Gently coax the wick ends down to the bottom of the well and then use a needle to pull some wick each direction to cover the holes. To make this easier I split the wick ends in half after installed in the coil and trimmed to length. Then lightly compress the split ends back together so they can more easily slide down to the bottom of the well. Presplitting them like that makes it easy to move half of the wick over to cover each hole.

Also, try to tease the wicking down to the bottom of the well without compacting it. Keep the wick fluffy.Compacted cotton is a dry hit just waiting to happen.

Edit: just re-read your post and noticed you say two of the holes line up with the screws? Can you get wicking in front of those?

I got an RBA setup yesterday and am impressed, this is my first experience with an RBA.

One thing I've noticed is that it pops when I press the firing button. It only happens once and if I take another vape within a short time it does't pop. Along with the pop some moisture is expelled through the air intake. I wouldn't call it a leak as it sort of pools by the air hole. I wipe it out every few hours and even then its no more than a few drops. I guess it has something to do with the coils heating up from a cold start.

Is this normal and if not any suggestions as to what I have done wrong? When I got it I juiced the RBA down with plenty of juice and then let it sit for a few minutes after I reassembled it.

Reposting this for your pleasure:

Loud popping when you hit the fire button? Bad coil symmetry. Your coil is deformed causing irregular wick compression against the inside of the coil. Four fixes: rewick heavier (more cotton), straighten the coil by firing it then pinching it together with tweezers, replace the coil or gently pry the coil turns apart converting it into a spaced coil. It is Very important to keep coil symmetry when setting contact microcoils. Any deviation from turn to turn, whether it be diameter, straightness or separation, can cause popping, hotspots and a host of other problems.

Measures with a micrometer to about the size of 29awg. Measures resistance closer to 28awg. Cheap china wire can be all over the place for res measurement. Unpredictable.....better to use Kanthal A1 from Temcoindustrialpower imo. It's cheap and reliable.....and shipping is free!

Thanks.....

Three or four days ago I decided to rewick an eGrip rba factory coil with the supplied cotton that came with it. I can only assume at this point that the cotton sheet material is somehow superior owing to the fact that I've gone much longer without the desire to clean or rewick. As someone else reported there was a hint of funky taste at first but that quickly cleared up.

Just my personal experience observation. After a couple of weeks I'm still loving the eGrip with rba.

Any chance you could elaborate on what you did different to stop the leaking? Having the same issues...worked incredible at first, but since the first rewick, and about 37 since, I cant seem to stop the damn leaking! Even tried another premade coil, although that had way less cotton than the first which I dont think helped any. Would really appreciate any and all help...Thx!.

Made sure to add a bit more cotton and to have it tucked around bottom....nothing around the screws or air hole/coil area.

Thanks...this helps a lot. I tried enough wick (on one of my many attempts) to get around to all holes and immediately had to tear it down as I had no draw, although I was packing it a bit. I will try again but fluffier. After my last post I did get a decent working setup doing the two hole cover, but am getting some gurgling and a little leak through the airhole...actually more of a buildup than a leak. I will see if the fluffier 4 hole cover fixes it. I was afraid going too long on the wicks to get around there would cause too much wicking and therefore leakage. I have a 2nd rba enroute...I will have to compare and see if the holes line up the same on both...

Ian444...thank you for the links, I will def watch them.

I really appreciate the help. SO close to the killer setup I hoped this would be!

Just received mine today, an impressive little device...and I mean little, but surprisingly heavy for it's size. I purchased the RBA deck based on the stellar reviews, they were spot-on, this thing Vapes like a champ, I replaced the cotton in the pre-built coil with rayon, I prefer it's flavor and durability...can't rave enough about this little guys performance. I have a few cons with it though, throughly cleaning the tank for a flavor change is a little bit of a pain, I used a water filled syringe to rinse it out a couple times then dried as best I could before refill, the bigger con is how noisy it is when taking a draw, i've never heard a device make this much noise before, crackling and popping like crazy and it would have been nice to have some better wattage markings on the dial...other than these few small gripes I'm loving this thing.

I've decided to use the Aspire BVC coils based on the stellar performance, using these will quiet it down and give me the tighter draw I prefer, I use 24mg juice and don't take lung hits, the RBA's draw is just to airy for me. If you're in the market for an extremely pocketable grab and go device that provides a great vape I'd say this is a solid choice.

I tightened up the coils and reworked the RBA and it still popped for a while but not nearly as bad as before and then stopped so one problem solved. I'm also getting much better taste.

Another problem that came up is that today and yesterday after I came home from work the grip tank had a copious leak through the bottom of the RBA This after 10 hours of use at work with no problem. The only thing i can figure is that going from the cold outdoors to my apartment somehow caused this.

Has this happened to anyone else? I get a car going into work so I am not out nearly as much as taking the subway home.

On another note have any of you tried filling the Kanger Subtank through the top? It seems to me that taking one or both screws out (depending on the top of your eliquid bottle) would almost double the capacity.

Can you elaborate on the coil tightening and reworking, the supplied coils are a very tight micro-coil and not sure how you'd rework any aspects of this RBA David. Thanks

I put the RBA in the 510 adapter and squeezed them together on a VaporShark and then rewicked. I could see that the coils were tighter than before. The cotton was rather loose but it seems to wick OK. I vaped on it for at least 10 hours without a problem other than a small amount of condensation around the AFC.

I had the same issue today.
Woke up vaped for a bit, put it to the side. Was no leaking at that point etc.
Came back to it a few hours later and found it leaked the whole tank out.

No idea why either.

Edit- it stayed in the room the whole time. No temp change that i could tell from before and after in the room.
