I think you helped me figure out my leaking issues...took a close look and none of the air holes on my chimney line up with the coil ends...not even close. To have the wick cover two holes would mean a serious angle to the coil and long wick ends swept around. Can you guys tell me if the air holes on yours line up with the coil ends? With the chimney snug 2 of mine line up perfectly with the screws. Will have to look if rotating coil 180 so legs go in opp side will help any...?
Thats good, you don't want two holes to line up with the coil. Leaving two holes open resulted in gurgling every time for me. The rba works best for me when cotton is in front of all four holes. In front of, but not smashed into the holes.
Gently coax the wick ends down to the bottom of the well and then use a needle to pull some wick each direction to cover the holes. To make this easier I split the wick ends in half after installed in the coil and trimmed to length. Then lightly compress the split ends back together so they can more easily slide down to the bottom of the well. Presplitting them like that makes it easy to move half of the wick over to cover each hole.
Also, try to tease the wicking down to the bottom of the well without compacting it. Keep the wick fluffy.Compacted cotton is a dry hit just waiting to happen.
Edit: just re-read your post and noticed you say two of the holes line up with the screws? Can you get wicking in front of those?
