Decided it way cheaper to rebuild the rba the sub tank comes with than to keep buying new atomizers. So what kind and gage of wire should I use? I use it with a eleaf istick and are there any other options for a rba set up I can use with the sub tank and istick? New to this kind of set up was using a spinner 2 and kanger emow but this is way better. Thanks!

Before you start building please make sure you are well informed on Ohms Law and battery safety! This is of the utmost importance!

@Baditude has a great blog in which he explains both of these concepts extremely well. Im using my phone at the moment so im hoping someone can help me out with the links.

There is much to learn to build coils safely. The first thing you'll need is an ohmmeter. If it were me, and I didn't have any small tools laying around, I think I'd buy a coil tool kit. Most of them come with just about everything you'll need, except they don't usually include a torch to anneal the wire. That's not an absolute requirement, but it makes life easier.

The most important rule is safety first. You want to lean about Ohm's Law and how to measure your resistance and figure out the draw the coil is placing on your mod. You'll definitely find a coil calculator and Ohm's Law Calculator useful. Your specific question can not be answered as it stands as I don't know what Ohms you're shooting for, or the size of your deck. But for starters, a short reel of Kanthal A1 in 28 and 32 gauges will get you by until you learn more.

What ohm level are you shooting for? In mine right now i have 5 wraps of 26 gauge kanthal with an inside diameter of 2.5mm. It comes out to .67 ohms. Google "steam engine coil" and it will come up with an amazing calculator. Tell it the gauge wire and type, inside diameter you are gonna build, and your target resistance. It will tell you how many wraps you need to reach that resistance. Extremely useful tool. When your ready to buy wire check out lightning vapes. Its so cheap its almost unbelievable. For 100 feet of 24 gauge kanthal i paid less than 5 bucks... with shipping... I bought some extra cotton because i felt like i was ripping them off.

Steam Engine is really good for getting an idea of what to shoot for (number of wraps, diameter, etc) but an Ohm checker is an absolute must for rebuilding. Even if it's the one built into your mod always double check your work. For me, my sweet spot on my Subtank is between .8 and 1.2 ohms. I usually do between 5-7 wraps of 28ga Kanthal on a 2mm jig. I did 7 wraps on my last coil and it's running at 1.17 right now.

I use Spider Silk in my builds and LOVE LOVE LOVE it. Never go back to anything else
