So why would I want/not want brass coil heads for my Subtank? They are more expensive than their regular coil head (clones), so I'm thinking there is supposed to something positive about them.....

Most brass contains certain amounts of lead and has long been debated about the safety of brass in vaporizers..personally i avoid brass and for now im sticking to OEM subtank coils from kanger..

At least the Kanger Subtank coils have plating over the brass they're made of right?

I have to admit I am loving these Kanger Subtanks more ~~ much more ~~ than I ever expected. I got two of the 25mm tanks and have used the heck outta them. Then I got the Mini just to see. No difference, except how often I fill it, & the RBA works better in the Mini than in my 25mm. So I bought another Mini. Now I use the two 25s and the two Minis daily. Most of my other attys are cleaned & stored in drawers now.

Good Job Kanger. Good Job Indeed

I've owned this subtank for a few weeks now and gone through 3 occ coils, lots of juice. I decided to check out the RBA section this evening but didn't want a dual build of .5 so I removed one of the stock coils on the RBA and wicked one. This is my FIRST attempt at wicking, never messed with an RBA before. Feel free to criticize... I'm new.

Since this is the age of everyone with a keyboard and net access becoming a reviewer: Here's mine.
I am glad they changed the design for the mini. Changing the top to install the RBA is a pain. It shouldn't be like that. And the little screws are difficult to work with if you have 50y/o eyes. The blue locktite is nasty as well. No news there, I'm sure everyone feels the same way.

Oddity: With the removal of one stock RBA coil, the ohms should be 1. My k-simar 20 mod won't read the RBA, even though it goes to .5. My IPV mini reads it as .7... which is really .8. Why the k-simar mod says check atomizer is beyond me... I took apart the build 3 times and checked for shorts. Sucks. If anyone has any comments on that, I'd appreciate it.

Ok so I put it on the IPV mini and checked.....point 7. Good to go. Wicked it and wet the wick then assembled with some locally brewed Strawberry ADV, 3mg max vg.

BAM! 20 watts to start. Oh wow, the flavour. Very nice. I like the RBA as much as the occ coils. It's a slightly tighter draw as everyone else mentioned but I can live with that. The flavour is really nice. Big like.

Thanks for reading. I'll burn through the stock RBA coils and start making my own soon. I have a mini and nano on the way in the mail, this 25mm Subtank may stay as an RBA because of the pain changing it over and use the others as plain tanks with occ coils.

Another good reason to keep the standard sub tank in RBA mode is for juice consumption. The occ heads have the wick hole so far up that there is about 1.5 ml that is unvapable. You can never vape the thing completely empty which sucks if you wanted to change flavors. This is not as noticeable in the mini or the nano. Now, with the RBA head installed the juice channels are at the very bottom and you can vape every last drop of juice. Less likely to get a dry hit.

    Hi vapers !
OK So I recently got the Subtank Plus, already the owner of a Subtank Original.
As you know, it's got a 7ml capacity instead of the 6ml/4.2ml of the original.
This is also for RBA, which is news to subtank owners because previously there was an interchanged airflow stem according to whether you used RBA or factory coils. So yes, even with RBA, it holds 7ml.
The airflow has been improved by adding another vent hole on the opposite side of the existing one, and now has a slotted airflow sytstem instead of 3 holes matching 3 holes.
The RBA head now has a finger grip on the chimeny head, very nice upgrade.
The deck on the RBA head is even smaller than on the original. Yes it is. Not a problem for me, but should be noted.
I actually haven't tried the pre-made factory coils yet, as I found them to be inferior to RBA with the original Subtank, and, prefer the cost-effectiveness of the RBA as well.
The glass piece of the tank fits more snug. The subtank plus comes with an extra glass piece and four black O-rings. The plus is 25mm and there's no adapter to 22mm included like it is with the Original Subtank. IF YOU HAVE AN ADAPTER YOU AREN'T USING, I'D LOVE TO HAVE IT. CONTACT ME VIA THE FORUM.
All in all, I love the upgrades but notice one troubling thing, for me anyway.
The vapor seems to be hotter, and the drip tip gets hotter, than the original subtank.
Also, and I'm being cautious here as it's only been a few days into it, but, it seems the plus has a little less taste (maybe due to the heat of vapor) than the original.
Here's a pic of both. The subtank plus is on the right, on the blue apv (E-LVT Mini), and the original is on the left, on the purple apv (E-LVT 2.0):

All in all I think they had some great ideas for the plus, but I'm personally finding the vapor a bit hot after a few puffs or so.
I'll review the Original Subtank in a different post.
All the best and happy vaping.. ! :p

EDIT: After deciding to try everything, slapped in a 0.5 ohm factory coil into the Plus. Vapor's cooler and much less popping. However I still prefer RBA so I replaced the coil and of course wick. Did a better job of it, and vapor is cooler, less popping, and about same as factory except much better taste. So stay tuned, folks, I've got a week of playing with this thing ahead of me!

    Hey, vapers !
I thought I'd share my experience with the Original Subtank, with a few comments thrown in about the Plus as well.
My previous post was all about the Plus, and I wanted to give some attention to the Original as well.
So, it's got a tank that will hgld 6ml with factory coils and 4.2ml with RBA.
This tank pretty much got me started building. It was my introduction to the RBA world. Granted for beginners, it has a small deck, heck even pros mention its size when they see it (Plus's is even smaller). However, brand new to it, I was able to handle it.
Missing from the Original Subtank (but included in Plus) are directions for re-wicking your RBA coils, and some tips about using the device.
It does not have any O-ring replacement as the Plus does, however it comes with an adapter/beauty ring that brings the tank down to 22mm, two differently ohm'd factory coils (0.5ohm and 1.2), the other airstem for the conversion between factory coil use and RBA, and an RBA head.
Included in both are Kangertech Authenticity code cards to check your product to make sure it's real (my original subtank in store, I misplaced the card, and the one I got from Fasttech, the Plus, came back as 'PROMO DEMO COPY/cannot auth.).
So, as I was used to replacing coils, I first tried the prebuilt coils and was moderately imnpressed, I was used to the Aspire Atlantis previous to this, and thought, well OK this is ok... but then I tired the RBA head and WOW what a difference. Such greater flavor. Also much more affordable to buy cotton than factory coils. So Imade the switch and haven't looked back !
This thing has NO LEAKS, neither the Plus nor the Original ! Love it. The Plus has some more popping than the original but both pop a bit on me. The flavor with the RBA head is awesome. The clouds are awesome. Great 0.5 ohm action.
One thing about the RBA head in the original, which they addressed in the Plus, is that the chimeny head if not tightened down well will come off when you remove the coil base to fill the tank, thus making it kind of difficult to fill. Just lift off the glass piece from tank and slide it out. The Plus has finger grips on this cap to prevent this problem.
Do NOT overtighten any part of this unit ! Plus or original. It will be difficult to remove your chimeny cap and wall (on RBA mode) if you tighten em down too much.
These things are beautiful and I get comments every day on them, from vapers and non-vapers alike !
Again, here's a pic of the two in action :

(to see original sized image, click here.)

So, I'm enjoying these woinderful units..... I highly recommend them to any vaper who want sub-ohm action with an RBA that doesn't leak and looks great. Speaking of looks, I didn't mention that the Plus is 25mm wide, and the Plus, unlike the original Subtank, does not come with an adapter/beauty ring. IF ANYONE HAS AN OLD SUBTANK THEY AREN'T USING AND WOULD HELP ME WITH GETTING AN ADAPTER I CAN USE FOR MY SUBTANK PLUS PLEASE CONTACT ME VIA THE FORUM !!! I'd love to have it....

    Happy vaping !!! :p
P.S. ... I found replacement/extra RBA heads for the Original Subtank (original only) here. Picked up a couple, they're all good!
