Hi guys, I'm new here and I want some recommendations for a new kit.

I'm a little confused. I went to my local vape shop and argued with the guy there for a good 20 mins. He saw me vape on my aspire pockex and he told me I was a MTL vaper and that I need a new kit with 1.8 ohm coils. I think I am in fact a MTL vaper but my aspire pockex uses 0.6 ohm coils and I like it. The smoke doesn't get too hot in my mouth and I get a good throat hit ( using 50/50 6mg juice).

I started with a joyetech ego then aspire pockex and it did me good but it doesn't last long enough and they are fragile devices. I'm ready to upgrade to a box mod kit.

Needs: -suited for MTL I guess ( I tried vaping on my friend's smok alien kit and I liked it so I'm really not sure.)
-4ml+ tank if possible and no leaking/spitting
-good throat hit
-I'm a noob when it comes to wattage and ohm and whatever but I want a device that will last the whole day.
-100$ US budget
-don't care about the aesthetic, I just want a solid kit.

thanks a lot

From here, lots of what's going to be good for you will depend upon your own style.

I would recommend a full upgrade to a device that takes external 18650's, that way you can just keep extra batteries and charging doesn't interrupt you vaping.

You may like something like a Pico kit iStick Pico Kit making sure to buy a nitecore charger and batteries from a reputable place for batteries such as
LG HG2 18650 Battery Genuine & Tested - 20A 3000mAh - Flat Top - Wholesale Discount

There are several good devices that you can get, along with batteries and charger for around or under 100 dollars. The devices will have more power than you will ever need, but the battery life will be awesome.

But here is where style will make a difference for you. You may prefer one look above another. For tanks, the stock tank that comes with the Pico has decent reviews, so does the aspire triton.. etc.

Welcome and glad you joined.
Tanks I would check out:
The Tron-S, with the CLR coils, the EHpro Kayfun Lite V2, Kayfun V5, and the Kanger Subtank Mini with the RBA/purch option.

Mod partial to internal a battery, a significant money savings.

I take a shot then immediately inhale the vapor then exhale.
That’s mtl. Mouth to lung. You’ll want low airflow high resistance coils and high nic juice. People seem very fond of the nautilus 2 atty for mtl. That and a pico should do you well.

Quick question guys: so it appears I'm a mouth to lung vaper. The guys at my local vape shop kept telling me I need a tank with 1 ohm+ coils but I previously used an Aspire pockex and it came with 0.6-ohm coils and it was perfect for me. Is the Aspire pockex a DTL device and I was using it as an mtl or you can vape mtl with sub ohms coils ? I'm lost

MTL has more to do with Airflow than it does Ohm's, MTL means generally there is a tighter draw so you pull it into your mouth first then inhale it, with DTL most atty's have a much more airflow and you basically breathe the vapor directly into your lungs without it stopping in your mouth.

Aspire pocket is a sub ohm device, that said, sub ohm (today) doesn't dictate whether or not you vape something mtl or dl. Rather, the design of the tank will dictate that to a degree.

Some tanks that are sub ohm you will likely never be able to use due to your vaping style, as they are set up for high wattage high airflow vaping.. others will be too restricted for you, and you won't like those either.

You will find yourself happiest with an in between tank, something that can do either or, to a degree.

The ello tank, the melo 3 tank, the aspire triton and such are more versatile as far as available coils and airflow settings and on them you will be more likely to find the most enjoyable place for you to vape.

I would recommend starting with the pico kit as a result.. as it comes with a tank you may really enjoy.

There are many mods that fire a atty and just about any will do. I would shy away from internal batteries cause they do poop out (lucky to get a year of daily use)and your stuck with a perfectly working mod that the batts have died, so into the bin...wasted bucks. Spend on batts and a charger and get way more life out of a external battery mod.
I'm gonna beat the dead horse again saying using factory coils are rolling the dice with issues from spending several bucks each that could last a few minutes to leaking and just not performing well. Learning to rebuild is the most valuable vape asset you could have that changes the vape experience compared to using stock coils. We use the kanger subtank mini for the last couple years and nothing but great experience from them using the RBA. I can build .3 claptons to 1.8ohm builds using both MTL and direct hits depending on the build, where rebuilding gives you more variety than stock coils. Lots of rebuildable attys out there but I would buy a atty that has the option of a RBA or being able to rebuild or revamp the stock coils incase you want to go that route one day. Being held hostage by the postal service, customs, vendors, if your gear is instock and being sure you have enough till the next delivery gets real tiring and old fast.

Here's what I have so far guys:
-4x LG HG2 18650 3000mAh Battery
- Nitecore d2 charger

phew I'm making progress loll

A couple of things.. sorry I wasn't paying enough attention.

I'm not sure about dashvapes. Normally I would never recommend buying batteries anywhere other than a reputable battery wholesaler simply because we know they arent passing off fakes...

But with you being in Canada then I take it, I don't what your options are so I won't criticise that choice to go ahead and get batteries there..

I vape all day MTL with 0.6ohm coils and a 3.5ml tank.

Today's rig was about $40 total.

The resistance of the coils is only part of the story. You can vape MTL with almost any coil it's the airflow that matters. You don't need 1.8ohm coils.
