We have the same law already in BC. I am sure that you could dispute a ticket, but all a cop is gonna see is smoke and a child. I don't vape in BC with a child in my car ever because a) it can't be beneficial for them and b) I don't think a cop is going to differentiate, on the contrary they'll probably think it's another substance instead and I won't gamble with that ever.

Yet another stupid law on the books, also hard to enforce so the first few charges will make the newspaper then it won't be heard of again. Think of the chain smoking parents with 10 kids on social assistance who sit around all day in the house smoking around the kids. We/the government even buys them the smokes.. Makes a whole lot of sense to me.

Just another step closer for the government to come into your bedroom hidden by "its for our kids"

As for fighting the ticket, I believe smoke is defined as the product of combustion. Since we aren't burning anything, it’s not smoke. Would be the same as getting a ticket for steaming your kid in the shower.

I hear you, I haven't seen anyone either, however there was someone on craigslist selling nicotine liquid for $1/ml a few weeks back, it did take me awhile to figure out there were other suppliers out there other than the typical stuff you find on craigslist and I am happy I did more research as apposed to just impulse buying!

LOL "Sorry Digital lungs" I didn't mean to high jack your thread : (

Here's a tricky one:

The Highway Traffic Amendment Act (Promoting Safer and Healthier Conditions in Motor Vehicles)

I have two questions, if anyone can answer.

First, does vaping in the car with my kids count? It does specify "smoking tobacco," though I'm sure other non-tobacco-based smoking products would warrant the fine (plus other criminal charges in most cases).

Second, would an electronic cigarette fall under 215.1(1)(d)?
Nope, as it is not specified as such.

This law came into affect in Ontario a few years ago. Ironically, the first ticket issued involved an 18-year old driver with a 15 year old passenger. The driver was smoking. Once pulled over, the 15 year old promptly lit up his (or her?) own cigarette.

I do totally agree with the law, though, but I'm not sure if it would apply to vaping. I say don't vape or if you do, do it in stealth!

Sorry to call you out here ;) but...

How after giving the above perfect example of how stupid this law is, how can you turn around and say you agree with it?
