Hello I have just gotten Kecig K100 from my dad and I need to buy legitimate batteries for it. I hear a lot about faces possibly getting blown off and im really trying to avoid that. I just purchased [h=1]EH IMR 18650, 30amp, 1600mAh, Flat Top[/h]batteries and I am wondering if these are the safest to use? I read a lot about using protected batteries and just noticed that these are not protected. My question is what is the safest battery to use and are there any other ways to make this mod safer? Also, if im using the right battery is this protective chip necessary?

Thanks!

The safest are the protected ones but they have tight current limits. Unless you plan on going subohm you won't be needing 30 amps. Go with the 2000mah Plus batteries. One thing they don't tell folks when using mech's is that you still have to worry about what way you put the battery in. Even though it won't hurt the mod it can be a problem. If you put it in with the negative toward the atty and you get cut or tear in the battery plastic shield it will short out in the mech and when you push the fire button you get a hot battery and mech not the atty. A protective chip is not needed if your careful. I personally hate the things. Can only use them in Mechs and they will work in my Provari but that is it to my knowledge.

tmcase has you on the right track philmyboob. Those batteries are great for a mech mod. They are IMR which are about the safest you can get for not burning when they vent which avoids explosions if you have a hard short. Because of this they are considered safe without a protection circuit built in.

The best way to make this setup even safer is to stay above about 0.8 ohms of coil resistance and use a fuse.
