I've been on this forum since i started vaping. I mostly just read and research all i can about vaping until now..
I have a little bit of problem here with my box mod and in need of help.
First off, a little bit of my background. I'm kinda new to modding but has a fair electrical knowledge and can follow simple electrical diagrams.
So I've tried doing a simple box mod (Smint Mod) following thes simple steps from Shofixti:

I tried my best to follow those instructions carefully and finally building my box mod (Smint Mod).
Before putting any battery and atomizer, i tested my mod for continuity (just like in doomsday1973's tuts) and for possible shorts.
Then I put the battery and tested for the voltage output (same with doomsday1973's tuts).
Everything is fine, or so it seems, and now come the atomizer and that's where the problem started.
I press the switch and nothing happened. The atomizer didn't heat up. Pressed it a few more times for 2 seconds each press and the battery started to heat up. I've read and understood the hazards of shorting a battery and the "Exploding Battery" story so I took the battery out and let it cool down. Normally, what I did next is to check the connections again without the battery and atomizer and everything is fine. Haven't tried it out yet since then.
Details of the mod that may be useful:
The wires are similar to what Shofixti and doomsday1973 used.
The box I used is the same as Shofixti used.
The spring and (+)contact are from a broken toy's battery hold.
The switch is a horn switch similar to what u can get from Madvapes.
My atomizer is a China ERA at 1-8-2.0 ohm reading
The battery I used is a Generic 18650 3.7 volts Protected Li-Ion
