Guitarplayer at heart!!

Started vaping 3 weeks ago together with my wife.
We use the evod mt3.

First question do I need to dryburn when I want to use a new coil? I noticed that the original coil that came with the evod was perfect. Now I have a new one and it tastes burnt. Tried another one, same thing.

Thanks.

EJ

Not sure about those coil heads but maybe you got a black sheep. Maybe someone else can pitch in.

Sorry that you guys lost against Argentina. I hope we take it home today and bring the trophy to Germany :)

Thx. Yeah too bad we did a lot better yesterday against Brasil. Although that is not really a team.
Good luck for you tonight but I think it will be no problem. .

Hi EJ, welcome to ECF! No, you do not dry burn new ones. I assume you are talking about Kanger coils? They look like this? Kanger ProTank & Evod Coil Replacement - 5 Pack 2.5 ohms If not, disregard this post, lol. If so, you got a bad batch. Their quality control went down the toilet a while ago. Don't toss them out because you may decide to rebuild them later. I've recently gotten some new packs that are back up to snuff so their is hope. All I can really suggest is that you try to buy new ones from a vendor that has a high turnover rate so the ones you get are from newer batches. I recently went through six straight coils before finding one that didn't taste burnt so I feel your pain. Good luck to your and your wife.

Hello and welcome to the forums!

This answer pretty much covers it:

Is it allowed to talk vendors here? If so which one has good coils?

I'm buying mine via a swedish online store, so that won't help you much.
Your best bet will be that if someone from netherlands could tip you off with a local shop.

However if its kanger coils, they're kinda sloppy even here from swedish shops. So i think all shops got this issue, mass produced coils can fail. :)

I bought them from banggood. I guess some nameless brand. Thought it all would be the same thing.

So it isn't a kanger coil? Maybe some more details on the coils you bought would be useful. Not sure if using any old coil in a clearo will work as well.

First off welcome to ecf. No need to dry burn your coils unless you are replacing the wick in them. When you replace a coil simply put it back on the tank and turn your tank upright and let it sit for 3-5 minutes to let the wicks prime. You can also prime wicks by taking a few strong puffs from your tank without pressing the power button on your battery. Im not sure of your vendors but if at all possible most will say its best to use authentic coils and not the off brands. Personally I learned to rebuild my own coils it saves me a bit of money and in my opinion the coils I get better vape and taste. If one starts tasting bad or slow to heat I can just remove the wick and dry burn it then put new wick in it and keep using it. Good luck hope this helps with your problem.

Thx. But is there a big difference between quality of different vendors. Or are coils basically the same thing. I opened up one just now and saw that the windings where all in the middle. There are 5 windings I count. I thought I saw some video using 6 windings and space between 3 left and 3 right.

I will have to agree with JSTJOE I personally rebuild the coils on my nautilus and aspire vivinova and get better results than the stock or original coins and can push more power which in turn gives better vapor and flavor in my opinion but i like a warm thick heavy vape. If you decide to DIY there is a great online page that helps with finding the right coil size and ohm that you want steamengine but it doesnt replace a ohm meter to ensure you have the righ ohms and no shorts

The number of wraps around the wick will not matter much, so long as they are spaced evenly apart and they don't touch the sides of the metal cup. Do not twist the connector pin at the bottom either. Also - do not tighten your bottom coil clearo too much when attaching it to your battery device, just enough to make it have solid contact so it will fire.
( in general ) The more wraps around the wick with the wire will lengthen the time it takes for the coil to get hot..

This is what I bought. 5 PCS EVOD Atomizer Heating Core - US$4.63

I'm not 100% but they look legit to me. Did they come in Kanger plastic packaging with a silver foil back? If they did then they should be good. Not sure why you're not getting a good burn with them.

Although having said that, if you're using an MT3 maybe try these.. they are listed as MT3 coils.

Having a closer look, I can find those ones you bought on other sites but the sites I generally have used for buying stuff don't have them and have the type of coils I posted you a link to. I personally use Kanger clearos at the moment (Evod 2 and mini protank 3) and the coils I posted work fine in them.

Maybe someone else can shed some light on this, maybe those ones you bought are in fact not genuine or if they are maybe they are an old model and don't fit your clearo perfectly?

I dunno...
