Hello all, I'm Mike from Iowa, US. I'm a pretty heavy analog smoker who is new the forum. I've been researching vaping options and I'm totally blown away by all the information out there. I thought I'd join here to ask for some guidance.

I'm exploring vaping because of my job. I work as a dorm parent at a boarding school. I can't leave my students to step outside for a cigarette break very often, and I try not to smoking analogs at work anyway so I don't smell like a cig around the kids. A few months ago, I started purchasing ecigs to take care of these issues (I can use them in the bathroom without any odor.) Anyway, I first purchased a rechargeable Cig2o kit. It was okay, but I didn't care too much for the flavor or the throat hit. I missed my analogs, and by the end of a 16 hour shift, I would still be anxious to get out for a "real" cigarette.

Last week my only battery died, so I bought a disposable Njoy. I really liked it, but the lifespan is ridiculous on those things. I've gone through three of them since then, and at nearly nine bucks a pop, that's pretty expensive. I've read the rechargeable Njoy kits aren't comparable to the disposables, so I'm looking at other options. I'm considering ordering a Kgo clearomizer starter kit from Hoosier Supply. I've read good things about it and I like that it's refillable (versus buying carts.)

I do have some concerns, though. I keep the ecig in my pocket during work, and it will probably get jostled around a bit as I do a lot of walking around the buildings to get my students to class, activities, meals, etc. Do I need to worry about a clearomizer leaking or anything like that? I'm also confused about what kind of juice I can use with the Kgo clearomizer. Any brand or flavor recommendations? I usually smoke menthol analogs.

I've also read several reviews from people who went off analogs completely after switching to the Kgo. I'd definitely like to hear about anyone's experience with that. I would really appreciate any advice, I feel pretty lost looking at all the options! Thanks.

I don't think a clearo is the best thing to put in your pocket, when leaking is a possibility. I would look for a large capacity cartomizer type to carry around at work. As far as the KGO, I can't help you there because I never used them. An Ego battery (650 mah for your pocket) and a Mega carto should work well for you during the day, and you can use the clearo's at home when you have more time to fiddle (and there will be some fiddling), and clean up possible leaks.

I am sure some more folks will enter to chime in with recommendations, in any event welcome to ECF, and good luck with your vape journey :)

Thanks for the quick reply. As I'm reading, I gather Kgo and Ego are the same brand, is that correct? Another question I had is how often do you have fill it? I want to make sure I get something I can fill before my shift and not have to worry about refilling at work. It won't get used too often, but with the ecigs I've used in the past, I take about 8-10 puffs every two or three hours.

Kgo = Ego. Literally every manufacturer makes a version. So buy any eGo battery you prefer. You can use the Kgo clearomizer on any Ego battery (or any Ego threaded battery), but there are some e-liquids that will etch, crack, or otherwise react with the polycarbonate tank. Going to a glass or Pyrex tank (glassomizer) would help that....something like a Smok Aro or a Kanger Mini ProTank 2.

If you're going to keep it in your pocket and are looking for conceal-ability, consider a shorter battery as other manufacturers offer eGos in as small as 350mAh (which is very stubby).

And if you're really just looking for conceal-ability at work, consider a 510 manual battery (any brand) and a 510XL cartomizer. They are cheap and thin, won't leak, hold enough liquid for your disclosed puffs per work-day, and aren't reactive to liquids as they are steel.

510s are 9mm in diameter (+/-) and Egos are 14mm. The 510 is more like a robust, refillable "cigalike".

However, you'll want something with more power and capacity for the rest of your day if you want to get off analogs completely. That's where the Egos come in, and do quite a good job. That Kanger EVOD kit that was linked above is a fantastic product and an even better value. The EVOD bottom-coil clearomizer is one of the best, period. And you can still move to glass/pyrex for an additional tank when you're using the suspect liquids.

I haven't had to pick up an analog since I started vaping. There's one smoke in a pack on my dining room table that's been sitting there. I bet it's REAL stale by now!
I didn't make any promises about quitting. I just told myself that when I wanted to smoke, I'd vape, and see. I'm still doing that. After I vape, I just don't want the analog any more. It's just worked that way.

Welcome to the forums akhenaten. I'll chime in and also suggest some type of an eGo battery. I'm not really fond of clearomizers but IMO the Protanks are the best I've tried. I'll also suggest trying some cartomizers at some point, and if you like them a carto tank. That's what I use everyday, and really feel they're the best most reliable topper out there.

Personally, my #1 recommendation for a clearomizer & eGo combination is this: 2 Mini Protanks with 2 variable voltage batteries. My #2 recommendation is this: 2 Evods with two fixed voltage batteries (not for use with juices that damage plastic, no variable voltage, but still a great kit). Both kits come with chargers and replacement coil heads.

I do have some concerns, though. I keep the ecig in my pocket during work, and it will probably get jostled around a bit as I do a lot of walking around the buildings to get my students to class, activities, meals, etc. Do I need to worry about a clearomizer leaking or anything like that?
I carry clearomizers in my pockets all the time and haven't had a problem with leaks. But I don't just shove the thing in my pocket, though many people do. I use a variety of inexpensive cases for pocket carrying:

- mint tin lined with craft foam (the tin is free if you buy mints)
- hard clamshell case for eyeglasses (cheap at the pharmacy)
- pill bottles, mini shampoo bottles (like the mint tin, recycled from other uses)
- hard plastic cigar tube with holes drilled in it (also quite cheap; the holes are essential, though: if it's airtight juice WILL be forced out of the clearomizer when it's being closed)

My :2c: Buy either the Kgo or the Kanger batteries as they both fire at 3.7 volts. JoyeTech eGo fires at 3.3 volts. If looking for smaller consider a 350 mah Mini eGo. Battery info: 100 mah= approx 1 hr vaping before recharge needed. There's also a 400 mah version. I have a similar PV and use it at concerts-small but kicks like a mule.

Never knew that about mahs. Good info. And congrats on 10,000 posts. Cool.

then there is always the MVP2 with the iClear tank ... an inexpensive and long lasting starter kit ... now the iclear is plastic tank (might not work with menthol flavors, not sure tho), but you can use 510 and Ego threaded tanks and carto's on it (I myself like Kanger tanks; mini and reg Pro Tanks, all glass and metal)
