Hi everyone, im currently a half a pack a day smoker for 10 years now and decided to really try and kick the habit, been researching a bit and seems to me the general consensus recommends 510 or ego, also saw the tank versions too which i dont know what the difference is. Basically im looking for a kit that will be sufficient for me and last so i wont need upgrading in the future.

You would be probably upgrading or supplementing a 510 but it may be OK if you only vape 1/2 pack's worth of drags per day. 100mah is about 1 hour of moderate vaping. Normal Joye 510 is 180mah. Joye 510 mega xl is better at 280mah but they are long - 128mm with a cartomizer (cartomizers are the preferred way to vape versus atomizer and cartridges it comes with). Manual batteries are used and recommended by most people here - not so easily damaged or killed by juice leaks (in fact Joye 510 manuals have a totally sealed metal threaded end - no hole into the battery) and easier to get a good hit. With a normal size 510 you would be charging a lot. But if you have a charging cable at work and a couple at home and have 3 batteries it may be OK. With manuals. And Boge standard resistance cartomizers are what I recommend for your favorite thinner juices. Slim batteries can only use standard resistance.

Ego is a 510-threaded fat battery model. 14mm diameter batteries vs 9.2mm for slim 510. The fat battery models have 650mah or more charge and can optionally use the hotter low resistance (LR) atomizers and cartomizers (which also use the charge up faster).

Ego-T comes with tank atomizers and tank instead of normal atomizers and cartridges. Many people have issues with tanks, some like them. I would only buy an Ego-T if you want the 5-click disable feature of its batteries for disabling/enabling the battery (so you can pocket it). if you buy Ego-T then I also recommend you buy a normal 510 atty and 510 drop tip, and a pack of blank 510 cartridges (not great for long-term vaping but OK to learn on). And Boge cartomizers (standard resistance while learning to fill properly and keep them damp, then the LR 2.0 hotter ones if you want them).

Or buy the normal Ego (and a drip tip that fits whichever atomizer you chose, and Boge cartomizers) and later if you want to try tanks buy an Ego-T tank atty and tanks.

FYI - Ego and slim 510 can share standard resistance atomizers and cartomizers (like 2.5 ohms and higher). But eh slim 510 should not use lower ohms attys/cartos nor the Ego's fast charger cable (either can damage the slim batteries)

If you want a real Ego, only buy Joye or Janty brand, because some clones are crappy.

congrats on kicking the habit. you wont regret it.
i started with the ego tank system.... its a love / hate relationship. when they work properly they are awesome but then when they leak.... its a pain in the ...!!!
if i did my research better i wouldve started with this

Canadian E-cigarette Happy/Joye eGo Starter Kit - Black, Silver, White, Titanium

1) the battery life. im a heavy vaper and one battery can last me about a whole day.
2) if you want to try the "tank" system later on you can buy a tank atty and tanks and it works seamlessly with this battery, as well as cartomizers, 306 attys... anything with a 510 threading
3) you can either drip or use the cartridge... i personally like dripping now and dont seem to using the tank system as much.

hope this helps

Ok so I bit the bullet and ordered the eGo kit from Happy Vaper, the kit you posted mafig looks good but I rather stick with ordering from a Canadian company. So I got the eGo started kit, a drip tip , a package of blank carts and some juice. I figure that's enough to get me started and last a little while before I need to re-order more things.

glad U bought yr 1st kit..whichever model U choose it is the beginning of vaping experience and away from analog..the best moves U made..U should also join "Canada Forum" Canada Forum for direction & advice..Canadian members & veterans can guide U for nic e-liquids..regards mafig

Another new Canuck saying hello! There's a lot of good information in here, and I didn't want to start another thread (hope thats okay, Alvin).

My GF is also a half a pack a day type smoker, and I would really like to get her to switch to vaping. She's seen/tried the Blu e-cig, and likes the idea of having it be the same size as a regular smoke, and having the portable charger. I am new to the scene, but from what I understand since I am in Canada, getting the carts for the Blu would be a pain/impossible? If thats so, would the 510 be the best bet? I am combing through the Canada forums to get more info as a new member.

Price isn't a huge factor, my focus is finding her an e-cig that she'll love to use and find easy to refill/maintain. Anything to get her to ditch the analogs!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hey ~ gratz on switching to vaping !
I'm a Canadian (vancouverian) and have been vaping+analog free for 3 days.

My fiancee got me the happy ego starter kit with an extra atty and emtpy carts. The good thing is, i knew a "mixer" that could provide me with the nic i needed since happy vaper site doesn't sell any nic carts.

i HIGHLY recommend getting the Happy eGo starter kit. The switch was nice and easy (i've been smoking for 15+ years with approx 2 packs in 3 days). I was initially thinking of using both the 510 and analogs, before slowly moving off analogs. However, within a day i stopped analogs completely without any major withdrawal. The e-cig was able to completely remove the "need" to smoke a real ciggy.

Battery life of the Happy eGo is pretty amazing. First one lasted me 2.5 days before i needed to charge it up again (even though i always bring both batteries with me incase i run out)

Refilling/maintaining is the harder part. I haven't been able to find any "vendors" that sell a pre-mixed nicotine fluid within the Canada area. After doing some research i don't think its fully legal yet to sell mixed nicotine liquid, though there are many sites in the US that you can buy off of OR you can DIY - which, unless you do a lot of research and can take the risk, i don't recommend.

If you buy carts, make sure you get carts that fit at least 1ml of liquid in them. my 1.1ml cart can last me a whole day.
As i'm still a beginner i have no input in dripping yet.
I was also just recommended a CE2 Cartomizer. which is basically a cart and atomizer in one. have been told it can hold 1.8ml, decent taste + longer life span.

If you wanna surprise your gf and make it work - make sure that you have everything ready before you give it to her ! Don't just buy her the e-cig without any nicotine. Find out what type of cigarettes she smokes, the strength of the cigarettes etc.. find a vendor in the US that sells that flavor and add an extra fruity/sweet flavor as well to give her different choices =P

She'll love you for it ~ i know i love my fiancee for this present !

PS - 3 am while i'm typing. i apologize in advance for grammatical errors etc..

Hey fellow canucks, got my happy ego kit today but had to go to work shortly after so can't try it out till tonight, for the filling i'll probably go the drip route at first and maybe later get some tank attys.

Btw I got a list of all canadian vendors that sell juice with nicotine, shoot me a PM when you guys get 5 posts and I'll send it over.

So was able to try out my new eGo, currently waiting for my nic juice to come but the kit came with some zero nic catridges, I must say at first my throat was burning because I didn't properly inhale it, trying to inhale it like an analog but after a bit of adjusting I got the hang of it. I can really picture myself sticking with this and dumping analogs, after vaping the wonderful cappucino flavor carts I had an analog shortly after and realize how nasty they tasted.

Congrats, Alvin! Another Canuck chiming in. Vaping almost a year now, got my first eGo kit from Jack at Happy Vaper as well, and until recently I kept using the eGo the entire time -- different atties, tanks and cartos (the tanks just didn't work for me -- none of them) but the eGo never failed to give me a good vape. I only upgraded to VV recently to step it up a few notches and have loved it so far, but the eGo got me here and it did it with gusto. You really can't go wrong with an eGo, I think that eventually (if not right away) everyone gets an eGo to add to their arsenal. It's great as a primary, and it's the perfect backup if you upgrade beyond it. It can use all 510 accessories and all eGo accessories, so it's quite versatile even without getting into adapters, and 510 and eGo stuff is available pretty well everywhere, so you'll never have to worry about replacement parts of any stripe.

And if this ridiculous situation with Health Canada can be reversed and resolved I think we'll have a great and thriving vaping industry with wide availability, too.

Good luck with your new kit, whatever you get. You'll love it.
