Hello everyone,
I've been lurking for a couple weeks and decided I needed to become "official". I gave up smoking Marlboros after 30 years a couple weeks ago. I haven't had a craving for one since I started vaping. I did some research before I purchased and ended up with a KR808D-1 Kit from Cig2o. It's a typical kit and came with two batteries and I've purchased another one. I'm still using the cartomizers that came with the kit plus some others that I got from Craig's list but just ordered my first juice from Smokey.
As you might know, Oregon is not at all e-cig friendly and the few shops that carry them are all smoke or head shops. No one carries e-liquid at all. Our Attorney General seems to be on a crusade against them and has already banned the Smokeverywhere kiosks from the malls and also Njoy from the Pilot gas stations that sold them. However, these are the only two that are banned and he banned them because they made specific health claims that couldn't be proven.
I'm looking forward to a lot of stimulating dialog in the forum and hopefully get my questions answered. As a newbie, I'll have a lot.

Welcome to ECF

I think cause Oregon has no regular sales tax , but taxes the hell out cigarettes might be one of the reasons they don't like the idea of folks switching to something non taxable. But that's just a guess i remember when i lived in Oregon smokes were really high. I was close to the Idaho boarder so i bought my smokes there instead. So if you ask me it has nothing to do with health claims and a lot to do with cash in their pockets. On the plus side you should have no problems mail ordering anything you want from stores in other states.

welcome! In the oregon vapors subforum (http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/oregon-trail-vapers/99701-should-we-keep-group-going-3.html) there was mention of a couple liquid shops, but the prices looked bad.... not a lot of action in that forum, but it keeps growing :)

Yeah too bad our AG is a fanatic about nicotine. I do see a few more PVs around these days, but it's still very rare. I get asked about mine fairly often, but not many people seem willing to try them out.

Good job picking a kr808.

Thanks for all the words of encouragement folks. I can honestly say there has been no urge to pick up an analog since I started vaping. I even threw away my last half pack of the things. Before, I had tried patches many times and always went back. There is something about the whole act of smoking that I liked and missed so vaping is perfect for me. I plan on cutting down on the nicotine gradually. Right now I'm still doing 18 mg. Most of the juice I ordered is around 12mg.
I think ignorance more than anything else is the key factor here in Oregon. I know I talked to a lot of smokers in the smoke shop where I bought my KR808D-1 and they were asking me questions and said they wanted to try it. They are sick of the mess and stink, as was I.
If you know of any e-liquid source here in Oregon, chime in. I'd really like to find a local-while I do order from the Internet, it would be nice to find a local where I could try flavors out.
By the way, anyone know what comes in the kit cartomizers for liquid? My guess is the chinese stuff so I bet once I get my juice from Smokey and Vermillion River, I'll be in for a treat

Yeah the kits usually have chinese. The local shops that have liquid get it from out of state, I think.
I cut my nicotine way down, but now I find I need the strong stuff a couple times a day -- kind of feels like needing to get another cup of coffee. So I'd recommend keeping some higher nic on hand, just in case.

I'd like to join the Oregon Vapors but I don't have that many posts yet. I found my kit at The Stash on McLoughlin. The kit ran about $50.00 and included 5 tobacco cartos, a USB and wall charger, and two batteries. Brand is called Cig2o. I have been back to the shop a few times to try different carto flavors and they have told me everything except the tobacco flavors are discontinued because of some FDA rules. So no more Raspberry, Chocolate, Grape or Coffee. Now why they think Coffee would be appealing to kids is beyond me. Also, all the stores that I have discovered that carry ecigs have huge signs on their doors stating no under 18 is even allowed in their stores. Go figure.
