Hey Folks,

My name is Tim. I have been trying to read allot on the forums here, and have a small working knowledge of the basics, I think.

Truth be told I am pretty over whelmed with the information. I read through Don's 6 part thread at work today, along with the hindsight thread. I gained allot of insight and came to the conclusion that I want to start off with a mod. I have my eye on the Prodigy V2, which really appealed to me.

Two things with that, 1 I am sure I will want to, and start to drip 2, I want to use cartridges for times when I am driving or, at least in the beginning while I get acclimated to the unit in general.

I tried to do some searches, but I am pretty confused on cartridges. From what I read it sounded like I wanted to go with the 801 adapter for the V2, but what kind of cartridges I would want, I wasnt sure of. Places to look, kits for those, etc..

I think at first knowing a couple of ones to look for, and then start to fill my own will be the way to go. From there move into dripping.

Any thoughts, or help on that part would be awesome. I really appreciate any assistance and apologize if my lack of knowledge was easily answered on a thread I missed.

As a side note, I quit smoking cold turkey about 6 months ago... It has been really hard, and beyond the addiction itself I really just miss smoking. One of the reasons I wanted to try this out is because it really helped my anxiety/stress and I am pretty sure i'd relapse to analogs given much longer in my job.

Well, thanks again in advance!

-Tim

do you want a battery mod or a regular e cigerette just trying to help you find the one your looking for lawnman3 :cool::cool:

I think the prodigy itself would be great, just not sure if I can use cartridges with it, and if so what cartridges I would use. Or if they only work on a specific adapter type, etc.

Tough question there...

I have never tried an 801 cartridge, but they are HUGE compared to most of the other cartridges.
And that can be a good thing or a bad thing.

If you don't "smoke" these faster than they can wick, a huge cartridge might be what you want.
But if you do, then wicking issues could become your new focus.

Prodigy would be a great choice. That said, I am old school and think everyone should start off with a basic starter kit (401, 901 or 801) to learn the basics. It is after you understand why the basic models may fall short for many forum members, you will better understand why some vapers move on to custom battery packs and higher-voltage devices. Taking the journey, making mental notes of aspects your current device does not satisfy will be very useful in your search for a new e-cig.

This is from a 6 year smoker who quit and started up again 4 years later, then just switched to ecigs.

I think if you quit 6 months ago, be strong and not start up again. If you do decide to try a ecig start off with a 0 nicotine eliquid, sometimes for me just the taste and vapor production is relaxing. I think I kind of have a oral fixation which is curbed by vaping a 0 nicotine eliquid. Other times especially in the morning and when I'm at a bar or something like that I need the nicotine.

I think I am going to start off by getting an Ace and soon after get a prodigy 2. Ease myself into it.

I would avoid the nicotine LoveMeTender... but it really helps with my anxiety. I don't really have an oral fixation, like putting something in my mouth never helped and I never particularly wanted to. The only real reason I quit was money at the time. At nearly 8$ a pack smoking a carton+ a week was killing me. -Shrug. I appreciate the sentiment though, and I did get a 0 mg cart for the Ace along with some with nicotine and I'll see whats what.

Thanks for all the replies everyone, much help!

Ordered my Ace last night, and I'll get a prodigy soon after I think. :D

it really helps with my anxiety.

I've only been using my ecig for a week but from my experience, nicotine by itself doesn't really relieve anxiety, it seems a bit more like caffeine. I think it might be some of the other chemicals in the smoke that created the relaxation.

You might want to look into Clonazepam, a great med for those suffering from anxiety disorders.

Yeah... I've been on most of the meds associated with anxiety and bipolar. The problem is my history and some ptsd stuff that wonk allot of those meds out and do more harm than good (one of those rare cases, it really sucks).

The nicotine itself stimulates beta-endophin enough for me to have the edge taken off my anxiety so it becomes manageable and less toward the getting on a full panic attack.

Hey Tim

My story was very similar to yours, I had given up for 9 months
I put on 35lbs in that time and missed the feeling smoking gave me
I found it hard dealing with lifes little moments of stress etc

I have only been vaping for 2 weeks and in my case this is the most wonderful, and exciting thing Ive come across in a long long time.
Vaping is so much more fun than smoking ever was

You've got the apeal of "gadgets" a big thing for me
I get all the "benifits" of nicotine, and few of the drawbacks
Its great fun finding all the flavours etc, no nasty taste
I can vap indoors
I can vap when I get stressed
I can vap watching TV

I absolutely lov vaping

However...........

Make no mistake, I am again addicted to nicotine, I now have a habit which I must fund, and manage

I am no different to a smoker in that respect, but If it makes me happy (which it does) and Im not harming anyone (which Im not, not even me, so far as we currently know) then Im going to keep vaping.

Im also trying to get all of my smoking freinds to switch to the healthier option.

Thanks for the reply glenn, sorry for the late response.

As a note, and sorry for my own thread necro here but, just got in my order from Pure Smoker today. This week was particularly aweful and the only thing that kept me from the analog was this shipment.

That being said, I got in my shipment *for the moment went with the Ace, to get used to it all and whatnot*

I got some menthol ice ato's, some pumpkin pie, and I got 555 which I thought would be an ato but was a fill bottle *have to try it out when I get an empty or some blanks*

So far, shipping was excellent, kudos on that from PS. Build quality seems great, I love that the batt color is blue. I like the weight, but I think I will love the difference with the V2 when I get that baby.

I think getting used to the inhale will take me a day or two, since its just a bit different and I found sucking then inhaling seems to work better.

Anyway, so far I love this little guy, relaxing inside, in my comfy recliner watching Star Gate SG:1, vaping away... man I gotta say I'm in love. I seem to get slightly more or less vapor, but this could just be n00b inhaling vs experience. Would like to get more on a hit though.

For a beginner, this setup is pretty great, its simple and easy to figure out. I imagine this being a really good first step into the process and getting comfortable with the idea of a new toy. (love my electronic toys...)

Menthol: A+ I love this flavor, they really captured a good menthol flavor *reminds me heavily of the "candy stick" i.e. marlby smooth*
I have to say I don't like the Pumpkin Pie though unfortunately.. I'll need to try some other flavors, maybe some kind of coffee...mmmmm

To all the responses, thanks allot. I really appreciate the feedback and the personal opinions.

I have allot of family and friends that smoke and I am hoping to get them onto these pronto.

So far, so good!
