Hi all. I've been reading reviews and tips on here for a few months and finally joined up.
I ordered my starter kit with 2 cigs left in the pack. I smoked one while waiting for the postman and the other a couple days in to vaping, though I didn't enjoy it much and snuffed it out pretty quickly. I knew my challenges would be smoking friends and drinking. Luckily one of my friends is on a mission to convert everyone to vaping so I am not alone with my funny apparatus. Said friend is the one that got me to switch and helped me out with the initial learning curve. Now I have him hooked on tanks and bought a brick of cartos that I punch for him - and our other vaping friends. It has been all about "the chart" and hitting the perfect combination of volts and ohms. I have a Kick on order so soon I can just dial it in and not mess around with reading ohms (a menagerie of old clearos of various resistances on hand) or adjusting voltage.
I've been fine with drinking and achieving the familiar buzz - and have a couple options for a "stealth" setup that isn't so obvious. The one thing I miss is my first cigarette in the morning with my 4-shot espresso. I have not been able to replicate that initial kick.
I smoked for about 20 years (Marlboro Menthol Lights). I quit for a month or two a couple of times but never really WANTED to quit long-term. I could go a week without smoking just fine (as long as I wasn't drinking) or I could smoke a pack in a day/night of backyard pool-time fun. I told my doctor I would quit smoking at the end of the summer - and I haven't smoked since mid-September. I haven't yet had the discussion with her about vaping - but I feel better and that is what matters most to me.
I would never smoke in my house or in my car due to the smell, so one down-side to vaping for me is that I "smoke" more now. Especially since I work from home it is easy to have my unit next to my laptop and puff away. From what I have read today I probably need to increase my efforts to stay hydrated.
Anyway, "hi" and I look forward to learning more and sharing with others.
Ashtray given to me by a friend now holds drip-tips.
