Hi all.
I've been here a few times to read some threads and figured I'd join. Yes I do have some questions also.

My name is Ed and I hail from the southeast, originally from up the river in NY, PK to be specific.

I'm fairly new to vaping, about 1.5-2 months. I needed to stop smoking but I really liked smoking, old story I know.

So I looked around and made the Bad Choice of buying BluCig first, nuff said.
From that, after about 2 weeks, I found Halo and bought their G6 which was tons better than Blu. I've been using them for about 3 weeks now and got some blank cartos and some of there juice which isn't bad. I've also been to my local Vape shop to get some of their juices. Then I tried the Mini tanks from both Halo and V2, the EX tanks.

From that I have jumped in with both feet. Looking to upgrade to something that really produced vapor I saw a review of the MigCig SR72 kit over at Indoorsmokers YouTube site. At $99 I got 2 eGo 1300mAH batteries, 2 Aspire BDC tanks 1.8 Ohm, 5 replacement coils, zippered case and the charging system. Not sure if it was a bad deal or a good one. I got the kit today and am vaping on it as I type this.
I've also ordered a Vamo V5, batteries and charger and a Aspire Nautilus BDC adjustable airflow tank (all of that shipped today).

I haven't had any cigarettes in 2 weeks and the first week I had the Blu I went from about 10 packs in 8 or 9 days to one pack for that week.

So on to the questions.

1) The batteries that came with the kit I bought does it matter if they are turned on or off when charging?

2) With the Halo G6 the instructions said to charge the batteries for 8 hours for the first charge even if the fully charged light comes on then use them for 20 minutes or so and then recharge and let it sit for another hour after they are charged. Is there any reason to do this with the eGo batteries that came in the kit I bought?

3) When I'm hitting the clearo tank on the eGo battery I can hear it crackle every now and then. Is that normal? Am I not drawing in enough air? Am I drawing in to much air?

Thanks.

Hi, Shootist, and welcome!

1) The batteries that came with the kit I bought does it matter if they are turned on or off when charging?

Short answer?, No, it does not matter.

Although fully charging the batteries and letting them rest for a bit to cool off would be good before you vape there's no need for that. BUT. NOT letting the battery rest after a charge can affect performance down the road - hitting a warm/hot freshly charged battery decreases its lifespan by a little bit every time you do that.

FWIW, it's best to let ANY battery rest after a charge. How much of an impact it has on lifespan I can't say for sure, but resting is always a good idea if you want to do everything you can to maximize life.

3) When I'm hitting the clearo tank on the eGo battery I can hear it crackle every now and then. Is that normal? Am I not drawing in enough air? Am I drawing in to much air?

Thanks.

That crackling sound is perfectly normal, it's the sound of your e-liquid vaporizing off on the coil.

Welcome to the forums Shooter! I am going to take a stab at your questions, merely a stab and the advice is free.

1. I always turn them off before charging. I doubt it matters but I like to do it.

2. If the instructions say to go 8 in the beginning you might want to follow them. Batteries are your lifeblood in this game, or at least one of a few. That said, I always used them when the light went out. Contrary to what my wife says, I am a risk taker.

3. This is where my advice gets even more suspect! I think the occasional crackle and pop is normal on a clearo. I remember getting them and the clearo still worked fine and I don't think you are drawing too much or too little. I am more of a carto tank guy and it has been a while since I did battle with clearos. I really hope someone more current on the clearos will kick in if I am way off base here.

Again, welcome and best of luck my friend!

Figures K Tech would get you fixed while I was typing this long winded answer!

Trust me, it can be an extensive and expensive education.

Yeah this was supposed to be cheaper than cigarettes. I spent about $45 every 8-9 days on smokes. I just looked it up and I've been vaping since 3/29. So that's about 5.5 weeks. In that time I've spent around $300+ between MODs, MINIs, tanks, batteries, chargers and juice. But I'm done for now. I've got, I think, everything I'll need for a while. Other than juice. Need to make a run to the local shop tomorrow.

This is turning out to be more expensive than Golf.

EDIT:
I just remembered. I need to get some Nautilus coils. They are different from the standard Aspire BDC

Instead of just smoking cessation it can easily turn into a hobby. But after finding the gear that keeps you off cigarettes you can be done with hardware purchases and just get the usables.. Coils/cartomizers and juice... You can find out that tinkering and diy juice is your thing which can keep the cost of consumables lower than pre made stuff.. Or you can go all out and get new shinies on regular bases.. After the initial set up the cost is really up to you and there are so many ways to do this.... It is the part i find very enjoyable..... You might also find yourself addicted to ecf along the travels in the vape land
