New member today. What a great resource. But please excuse the one long paragraph, since I can't figure out how to use normal paragraph spacing. I became a first time vaper about 4 days ago. First using a Blu disposable, and then the starter kit. Which I now see uses VG solutions. After two days of primarily using Blu classic with a few analogs in addition, I experienced a massive case of the runs. I have had lactose intolerance for several years now which causes extreme ........ to the point of bleeding. That is what I just experienced with Blu. So I do a search, and see the VG and PG both convert to lactose in your body. But then I also see that ........ is a side effect of nicotine withdrawl. So my question: does a PEG 400 product also convert to lactose in your system? I hope not. My short experience with vaping made me believe I would like to convert from analog to electronic, but this isn't in the cards for me if I can't solve the digestive issues, which for me are extreme to the point of debilitating (we are talking blood loss extreme). Any insights would be very greatly appreciated.

I can't speak for anyone else..but when you are talking blood loss, my advice is seek advice from a Doctor. I do know I've read of that type of side effect when coming off Nic...but never with Blood Loss...and never that extreme. Of course, more knowledgeable folks will chime in soon, I'm sure!

Good luck!

The blood thing / extreme reaction is typical of when I have a problem from inadvertently eating anything with lactose (cream, milk, cheese). We are talking more explosive than when you use the stuff they prescribe before a colonoscopy. I have some internal hemoroids that go nuts and won't calm down for a week or two. That is what I experienced with Blu and a normal diet.

It seems to be a stretch to think such a minute amount of vg or pg that never sees your digestive tract could be the cause. Please see a physician immediately and let us know how you make out.

I agree. The vaping in and of itself may not be a factor. I'm not sure if any eliquid maker even uses PEG anymore. Last time I heard about it was about 2009 - 2010. But if you DIY, you might be in business. But as other's mentioned, I would see your doctor.

"The acute oral toxicity of propylene glycol is very low, and large quantities are required to cause perceptible health damage in humans; propylene glycol is metabolized in the human body into pyruvic acid (a normal part of the glucose-metabolism process, readily converted to energy), acetic acid (handled by ethanol-metabolism), lactic acid (a normal acid generally abundant during digestion),[12] and propionaldehyde (a potentially hazardous substance).[13][14][15]" Propylene glycol - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
