New member. Help with Vision Spinner. Battery Issue.

Hi. I'm new to the forum but I've been vaping for a while now. I'm not a total noob but I still have some things to learn.

My problem-

I have the Vision Spinner and an Aspire BDC tank. It's been working great until today. I charged it on my aunt's older Toshiba laptop last night and after I got my new coils it seems to not be giving me the correct/wanted voltage. In turn I'm getting really weak hits and they're upsetting me to the point I'm almost ready to smoke a nasty cig. I've been without real cigarettes for a month now and I have no urge to go back when my equipment works properly. I have it on my laptop now allowing it to charge hoping that it will fix itself. I think it's the voltage regulator on the bottom or possibly the battery. If anyone could steer me in the right direction of fixing this until I get my mod it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time and consideration. Happy vaping..

Welcome to the forum IK. How old is the battery? It might be that it's just getting ready to give up, or it could be the laptop you charged it on. I think it would be better if you had a wall plug to use to charge it with tho.

Battery is like a month old. I had it on my laptop for a couple hours. Just pulled it off and it's still giving me weak hits on 4.8 volts. I'm going to put it on the wall charger while I sleep tonight like suggested and hope it fixes it. Any other tips on maybe rebuilding or something of that nature would be greatly appreciated. I should be getting a mod tomorrow. I offered the owner of my local vape shop free computer repair and he said that he would hook me up with a mod. Hopefully he brings his stuff in because this really sucks. I was hoping to have a mod at home and my spinner for the road and work. Thanks guys.

I recommend plugging your charger only into a USB/wall adaptor similar to the pic below -- USB portal on one end and a wall plug on the other end. A computer port could have inadequate output and not provide enough power to the charger causing either very long charging times or put the batter/charger into a sleep mode. Same holds true for any USB port that the new cars have.

Your ego charger should have an indicator light on it. It will initially turn red while the battery is charging. It may blink as it checks the status of the battery. When the indicator light turns green, the battery is fully charged and should at that time be removed from the charger. If left on the charger, the charger will continue to provide a "trickle charge" to the battery to keep it "topped off". Feeding a battery multiple trickle charges over time causes harm to the battery so that it affects its overall life expectancy. Either keep an eye on the charger and physically remove the battery when you see the light turn green, or put the setup on a light timer. Repeatedly charging overnight while you sleep will cause the battery to be on the charger longer than it needs to be and you are sentencing your battery to a short life.

You do not need to drain the battery down to charge the battery. Topping off a partially drained battery is fine and will increase the life expectancy, just don't leave it on the charger longer than it needs to be once that it is fully charged.

E-liquid on the top connector can corrode the metal and eventually affect the electrical connectivity of the battery to the charger. Keep clean as often as necessary. Use a paper towel or cotton tip applicator; use alcohol if liquid has dried.

The battery's center pin can become pushed too far into the battery if tanks are applied too tightly, also affecting electrical connectivity. A precision screwdriver may be required to tease the center pin up a milimeter or two to its formal position.

Well, I charged it on the wall charger last night. I think you may be correct on the center pin idea. I dropped it the other day and it caused the button to dislocate down a bit. I tapped it on my table and it fixed the button and everything was fine up until now. I'm going to plea to the manager of the vape shop and let her know what's up. Hopefully I'll be able to go and fix their tech problem to fix my problem. Then I'll mess around with the spinner and see if I can't get it back to full functionality.

The only thing I can think of to make a weak vape with a fully charged Spinner is a poor connection between the tank and battery which can be caused by a dirty or wet center pin, dirty threads or a less than solid connection between the two. An atomizer with too high a resistance would also make for a weak vape. I like 1.6-1.8 Ohm.
Try cleaning the threads with a q-tip dampened with weak soapy water followed by a rinse with plain water on a q-tip.

It was the coils. I guess I got a weak batch. I normally keep the vv over 4v and this time I had it a bit high and popped one of the coils. The shop replaced them and I worked my way up gradually from 3.3. Works okay now. Battery seemed to die a little quicker than usual though. It's charging now. I'll keep this updated with an end result.
